The game's out on PS4 right now, so where's our review for The Division 2? Well, as is almost always the case with these live service titles, the press don't get access to early review code, and that's what's happened with The Division 2. In other words, we'll be playing through the game at the same time as everyone else.
That's probably a good thing, though -- we wouldn't be publishing a review without having played on populated public servers anyway, in order to see how well it runs under normal circumstances. With that in mind, we'll of course be doing our best to bring you a full review as soon as possible. In the meantime, we'll likely pen a first impressions article for you sometime in the very near future.
It goes without saying that if you're waiting on our review specifically, we thank you for your patience. Oh, and if you've already sunk a number of hours into the game yourself, why not let everyone know what you think of it so far in the comments section below?

Im having a pretty good time myself.
I read the headline as a review with an interesting tag line a first. Then I realized what it actually is.
@Jaz007 haha. Would be a frustratingly appropriate review title for a number of games these days.
So PushSquare's waiting for the Standard Edition to do the review? I was hoping you guys already got the Gold or Ultimate Edition.:/
@WanderingBullet No, sorry, we did get the Gold edition to review so we are technically playing it early.
@ShogunRok Noted. Thanks for clarifying.
The first one is such a huge game it will take them at least 3 days or more to get though the game lol And by the end of it need migraine meds the amount of time to give the game a good go.
The Beta was very enjoyable but felt like 1.5 extension of the first game.
I liked the first game. I liked the recent beta. It's a sale for me no matter the reviews.
You guys will give it an 8. I'm calling it now.
@ApostateMage I’m with you, enjoyed the first enough to know I would get it when it was first announced. The beta just convinced me even more.
I’ll be getting it Friday regardless of reviews, but not fussed enough to pay the extra for getting it a few days early.
Only way you can review a game like this. Anyone rushing out opinions is just shouting into the wind with little knowledge.
No point rushing out a half cut review just to get it out there. A quality review is better than an ill informed one. That said, I already preordered the game after the beta the other week, i was very impressed. Just had notification that the game has despatched and is on its way to me
I'd just like to know if it's worth it for single player story and traditional pvp given I'm not interested in online coop vs AI and not liking friendly fires.
@JoeBlogs I think it's something that you get used to with experience. While I don't think experience can totally balance out the fact that sometimes reviewers have to rush through games, I do think you get to a point where you can grasp what the game in question is trying to achieve and how well it comes together.
In ideal circumstances we get review copies of games very early and we have enough time to play through at our own pace, but usually the timing is a little tight, or at least, tighter than we'd like.
Also depends on the game. Odyssey is a good example because there's so much to it — I guess it's the same with a lot of open world titles with RPG elements. There's only so much a reviewer can see before the review embargo lifts — it's just the way it is.
Ultimately I think the best reviewers approach games in ways that they're comfortable with. I don't like to think that anyone's playing a game for days on end just so that they can review it in time for the embargo lifting. I think that's when you get people struggling to properly critique a game, and it usually shows in the review itself. Obviously it's gonna negatively impact your enjoyment.
But yeah, bottom line is that a lot of the time we don't have control over how we're able to approach reviews. Just gotta go with it and hope that you can produce a quality review within a time frame that doesn't promote stress.
