We’ve got a big WAYP this week and your humble host has a very busy weekend, so forgive us for keeping the introduction fairly brief this time. Look at that sunshine outside, though, eh? Lovely, isn’t it?

I'll be looking to sink a few more hours into Trails of Cold Steel on PS4. I first played it years ago on the Vita, but the current-gen port's really done a great job of dragging me right back in. There's nothing quite like playing an engrossing RPG on a lazy weekend.

The last week or so I've been hammering Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice pretty solidly, but that's not put me off at all. I'll be continuing to explore all that Ashina has to offer, but I'm also feeling the urge to dive back into PlayStation VR. I want to play more Beat Saber, and also finally take SUPERHOT VR for a spin.

The little time I do get to myself this weekend will be spent continuing to fend off an army of bugs in Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain.

For me, this weekend is a double-pronged attack on two of the hardest games to have come out in the last few years: DiRT Rally 2.0 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Why I’m doing this to myself is a question that really needs answering.
Ken Talbot, Reviewer
I'll mostly be playing Sekiro: Shadows Die.

This weekend I’ll be crunching bones and ripping spines in the Mortal Kombat 11 Beta. As a longtime fan of the franchise, I’m so excited to TEST MY MIGHT.

After successfully finishing Sekiro last weekend, I'm looking to ratchet things down a bit this weekend with the more laid back Yoshi's Crafted World.

While at PAX East, I picked up a physical copy of Gang Beasts, which I've been pretty interested in playing for a long time now, so I'm really excited to jump into that. I also really wanna give Battlefield V's Firestorm mode a fair shake. While I think I prefer Apex Legends (even though they're not super similar), I do quite like it.

For some inexplicable reason I have the urge to play the Borderlands series so I will be playing Borderlands 2 as well as a bit of Division 2 with some friends.
What are you playing this weekend? You should know the drill by now, so let us know in the comments section below.
Comments 62
shadow of the tomb raider.
yes still playing that great series. and i will miss it when i'm done.
after that horizon zero dawn (yes i know shamefull that i have not played it before).
I'll be helping the Push Square clan crank up the XP for the loot in the Division 2.
Also think I might dip back into Surviving Mars to unwind.
Haven't commented on these for a while here since my recent gaming endeavors have been Nintendo-centric affairs, but after taking a much needed break I'll be getting back into Final Fantasy XIV tonight. I also plan to at least finish my current run of Secret of Mana by the time the weekend is out.
@jdv95 Better late than never. You should get the expansion if you haven't already.
I just realized, I have MK11 pre-ordered, but never received a beta code. Oh well.
I finished Devil May Cry 5 a few days ago, so I honestly don't know what to start on next. I'm juggling between Final Fantasy 12, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep or maybe Red Dead 2.
Heck, I may even start playing Bloodborne. Who knows.
Playing sekiro, it's a great game with really cool sword play system. I like the save point is abundant in the game, the enemies still respawn when the player saves though (sigh), and I don't like the dragon rot system where's the npc in the game can die if player die repeatedly, thankfully it can be cured. I think I like it a bit better than bloodborne because I can play with stealth in this game, the swordplay is better imo, and the verticality of the levels is nice.
Also the lack of fall damage in the game surprise me, I thought I was dead for sure the first time I fall below the bridge in the early portion of the game (when dwarf enemy fall, I hang on the ledge to see if he's dead but he shooting me instead lol), but I only take about half-damage.
After playing sekiro I want a new tenchu game with normal/medium-hard difficulty like the one in psone though
Soul calibre six. The new DLC character has just arrived and I’m competent enough with Amy to win online matches. The average standard of the opposition always falls immediately after a new character has been released anyway so I’m going to be making hay while the sun shines.
The kids have been saving their pocket money for weeks so they can buy Rocket League and they've finally reached their total.
I can't believe I've never played this game before, it's so good.
Dead or Alive 6, Tekken 7, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider for PS4. I kinda want to throw in Fighting EX Layer and Street Fighter V as well. Smash Bros and a few other games on Switch. But I’m aiming for Rank matches in DOA6.
@BearsEatBeets i got the complete edition so it's included.
The Division 2, the Division 2 and the Division 2.... there is simply too much content to put this game down!
@Krest_arisen Good luck! It’s not as difficult as it might seem. Occasionally I got complacent and killed in seconds but choose your level perks wisely and dodge a lot. Quen is your best friend.
Back to work next week after a lazy week off so I'll be making the most of this weekend by spending it mostly on the brilliant Yoshi on Switch as I have given Valkyria Chronicles 4 a break after getting frustrated on Chapter 15..
Final Fantasy XII on the PS4 is also still an ongoing thing.
Going by all the comments on driveclub, everybody is playing its multiplayer right?
Or is that just fake outrage?
It’ll be healthy doses of Sekiro and Division 2, really enjoying both games. Division is the best of the genre for me although I never really got into Destiny to be fair. As for Sekiro, I’m enjoying it and making steady progress but I still prefer Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1 over it. Might change my mind by the end. Might also get back into Smite with season 6 after starting and the pushsquare gang getting itchy for it again
I’ll be walking the streets of Washington DC with my fellow agents in The Division 2, hunting down the last few cultists in AC Odyssey, and driving cars at ridiculous speeds in F1 2018 🙂
Going to play a little bit of The Last Guardian and Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. Also will try the next case with Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations.
And if there's time then I'm still playing Persona 5. I thought I was done with it earlier this week after getting a bad outcome, and almost didn't realise that I could go back and do something different.
I'm enjoying RDR2 even more on my 2nd playthrough because there's no pressure from the internet to finish the story before they spoil it for you. The lighting, the graphics, the overall art is so unique as compared to the regular sharp graphics of Witcher 3, AC Odyssey and most other games. Hunting down legendary animals, finding more sites and secrets. Every thing you do is methodical, meaningful and deeply satisfying. For example, I get my winter gear ready on my horse, food etc if I'm about to travel to the Grizzlies to explore, whereas in other openworlds traveling somewhere doesn't really mean anything because it feels like the same repeated structures and assets.
I'll be continuing my journey in AC Odyssey too though more time is being spent with the masterpiece RDR2.
Looter shooter sequelitis with The Division 2 and Borderlands 2. Also some Path Of Exile with is rather decent.
I need a break from the intensity of Sekiro, so it will be more Yoshi's Crafted World for me this weekend.
Donkey Kong Country on the SNES this weekend.
@Krest_arisen I misunderstood your comment. Thought you were saying you were playing a second time but trying on death march rather than doing a second death march run.
Anyway, any time spent in the witcher world is time well spent.
Sekiro, great stuff so far. Will see how I feel when I get stuck!
I might get on with Witcher 3 as well at some point, if I have time. Still playing small sessions of Persona 4 Dancing All Night also.
That and I usually surprise myself with an appetite for something random and spontaneous. All this talk of DriveClub has be wondering if I should re-download that for another spin.
Assassin's creed 3 remastered, got the season pass today for Odyssey so will download 3 and probably reinstall odyssey because I want to experience the rest of the season pass.
For the most part my PS4 will be getting a workout with Path of Exile. Having played Diablo 3 to death its nice to have something a little fresher.
Need to get some Division 2 stuff done too
Ikaruga. I'm seriously addicted!
I'm Probably 15 or so hours into god of war, so continuing to push through on this. Want to play a bit of soulcalibur 6. Haven't had a proper go yet, still annoyed my 14 daughter is now better than me and puts my reflexes to shame. Wouldn't mind playing some more driveclub after the terrible news it's having its servers cut. I haven't helped the game (apart from buying it and all its DLC), I haven't played it in ages
Was excited for loading human but its kinda meh. More Horizon and The Messenger!
Stilling chasing that prey plat, will be playing some metro exodus on the side along with my sim killing her continuous husbands/wives (for the trophy of course) hee hee 😇😇😇😇
I'll be cracking on with The Division 2. I've had it for 2 or 3 days now, really enjoying it.
Struggling through Sekiro and also more Zelda Minish Cap in GBA!
Dead or Alive 6, Devil May Cry 5, MLB The Show 19
@Cpt_Price I agree it's a great game.i enjoy resident evil 5.word up son
the division and assasin creed 4 black flag.word up son

I forgot there were games besides The Division 2.
Hmm, having a clean up job on some trophies! Ground out 500 bounties on Diablo 3 for platinum (this was a ballache) and now cleaning up Tales from the borderlands. After that, not sure
After a fairly intense week at work, Sekiro feels a bit much. Taking a weekend sabbatical and starting... Cold Steel, which is wonderfully relaxing, surprisingly well translated and a really nice palate cleanser.
I'm still playing .hack//G.U. I'm on a 2nd playthrough now. I'm also going through Tales of Vesperia and Nier: Automata (at last). I just got my first Nier death from attacking a boar out of curiosity of what it dropped. It did more damage than any other enemy so far.
Red Dead Redemption 2. Still totally entranced by it. Might also start up Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a game I’ve put off playing for way too long.
Yakuza Kiwami 2.
If I finish the game, then I will start Sexyro.
Some MotoGP 17 and MXGP Pro on my PS4, just Career progression stuff. Some RaceRoom, Battletech and Endless Space 2 on PC. A nice mix of things.
Tried some Division 2 at my brother's place. A nice game overall, but I don't like enemies spawning out of nowhere in games like this.
Hey guys, I got the Red Faction platinum at last. Now I’m playing through Bioshock Infinite, a game that’s been unfinished on my trophy list for 6 years since it released in 2013.
Played through it one time already to finish up the collectibles on easy. That game is amazing. It’s truly special in every area, imo. 6 years old, but I kept thinking the entire time I’m playing it that it puts pretty much every newer game I’ve played to shame.
Happy gaming everyone.
Caught a dose of Borderlands hype so been playing a fair bit of BL2 while mixing it up with some Ni No Kuni 2 skirmishes to bag the last trophy I need for the platinum.
MLB 19 the show and Sekiro
Mass effect 3, doing my bit for the war effort one fetch quest at a time!!
The Division 2 and Sekiro. I almost hit level 30 in The Division 2 I'm excited to try to survive the end game
@Kyroki I couldn't imagine playing a game like that on Twitch. Too much performance anxiety.
Decorating My mind is on Seriko though, I had an hour last night and made some solid progress.
When I can find some time off work, I am playing Sekiro, RE2, and Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.
@Kyroki Oh sure but I can imagine a game like that is tough at the best of times, let alone trying to impress an audience.
@Kyroki What's your Twitch name, might check it out
Dark souls remastered and the messenger. The messenger is pretty fun so far. Ive got to a boss that has killed me a few times and i havent beat it yet. But i shall tomorrow!
After all the recent Borderlands news what else? Boderlands 1 GOTY for PS3. It still looks and plays great and at 1080p. My most recent previous play was in 2013.
I had a laugh when i wanted to take a screen shot like i can when playing on PS4. Very much also miss a photo mode like New Dawn and Far Cry 5 has.
Good riddance to Drive club. I know it’s the principle but such a poor game. Touch the grass and auto slow down penalty, Really!
AC Odyssey. Such a massive game with great characters and missions. Not up to Witcher 3 standards but few are.
Divinity original sin II.
Rise of The Tomb Raider, I had started Shadow which is excellent by the way and those challenge tombs are fantastic but quickly remembered that I never finished Rise. So now I'm playing Rise and have just finished the Soviet installation and I'm wondering why I never played these sooner as they really are excellent games and dare I say it better than Uncharted, certainly from a gameplay aspect if not necessarily its story and acting performance although these are still very good
Two awesome games - Horizon Zero Dawn and Resident Evil 2
1. Sekiro
2. NinoKuni 2 Tale of a Timeless Tome
Great counter balance programing.
Battlefield 4
I'm looking to finish some smaller games so I can delete them from my HD, so currently looking to finish off Deadlight, Trine 2, Trine 3 and then maybe fit in a bit of PES 2019 as well. I need to get back onto RDR2 as well some when, I've not played that for a while.
