If you never played the likeable Ghostbusters: The Video Game on the PlayStation 3, then you may be hyped to hear that the 2009 tie-in could be about to cross streams with the PlayStation 4. A leaked Taiwanese rating for Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered certainly suggests as much, and while the Xbox One is the only console currently listed, it stands to reason that the re-release would hit Sony’s system as well – assuming the listing is accurate, of course.
The game’s already backwards compatible on Microsoft’s machine, so this isn’t some kind of misunderstanding. Ratings boards also rarely classify titles that don’t exist – although publisher’s plans can obviously change. Either way, we’ve got our Proton Packs crossed that this turns out to be true – we rather enjoyed this a decade ago, and we’d be willing to take a return trip to the iconic Ghostbusters Firehouse at the right price.

I would absolutely buy and play through a remaster of this.
Great game with an excellent story!
I also want to be able to swipe up to fling a trap!
Enjoyable game, but not one i can see myself returning to unless its added to ps plus
didn't Sony actually publish this game in europe for the PS2 and PS3?. could be some licensing issues, if they're not involved in the remaster.
Never got the chance to play this sooo...yep,I'm interested.
Protons packs crossed? Did u mean your streams crossed? ☺
@leucocyte They did, yes. They managed to get some kind of timed exclusivity on it in Europe, too, if I recall.
@ellsworth004 Haha, I'd already used that gag earlier in the article, though.
Really enjoyed this game on the PS3 and I'd definitely play it again, hopefully we'll get another blu ray of the film because I dont know where mine's gone
I have this from my days on Xbox 360. This was a title I think I purchased dirt cheaply during one of their sales, I don't think I got it as part of Games With Gold although I can't recall accurately how I came to owning this. As I owned this digitally, when MS add games to their BC programme, if I owned it on 360 digitally, it just appears in my games available to download on XB1.
I must admit, it was OK - not great - back then and something I haven't felt like I wanted to download and play - not with all the current gen games that I still have to finish on either PS4 or Xbox. I don't think I would bother re-buying this unless it has added content - something that makes it worth re-buying and not just a visual upgrade.
What about the Twinkie?
I might get this again. Ghostbusters is my favourite film ever!
If this is the crap that came out the same time as that movie, it was absolutely awful
I recently played this on PSP and had a blast(glitches aside). I'd love to have another go at it in HD!
It'd be a shame for this game to fall by the wayside
@resigamer28 different game. This one came out in '09. Much better game than the latest one you're referring to.
Would buy again. Nearly got the platinum on the PS3 but the online trophies were awful.
That game was SOOOO freakin good! Im a huge GB fan and it really did the GB name justice! Was hoping this would be a sequal but ill take it for another remastered spin!
There is no remaster here, only Zuul.
isn't the Ghostbusters ip owned by Sony?
'He's looking right at me, Ray. I think he can hear you, Ray". Would definitely love to see this happen! As I got rid of my copy on the PS3 back in the day (a thing that I would later regret as it's expensive to get back), I'd be glad to play it again on the PS4!!! Would really be nice if they also added a way to do the VR on it as well, imagine that, not the weird one we got for the VR as a download.
@Ludens92 In some ways...Universal owns the company and Universal is partners with Sony, so yes in a way! I'm sure it'll come to PS4 too, possibly just a timed release for XBONE first (like it was for Sony in the past gen).
As big GB fan as a child, I played this on PS3 at the time and the Wii version also had some nice aspects, with the remote to aim. I recently restarted on Xbox 360 (dont have an Xbox One). Would be interested in a nice PS4 version. Know theres no hope of this, but would be cool if the cut 'parade' level was put into the game.
Yes. Absolutely will purchase.
@BAMozzy this was definitely a great game, a sleeper hit.
I loved this game and still have it on my 360, been looking to revisit it at some point. I must have beaten that game around 10 times, haha. I'd love to see it get a HD Remaster, preferably if they add some of the cut content to the game such as the thanksgiving parade level.
Just checked and you can pick it up for ~£10 second hand. Never played it actually. How is performance on it on PS3? As I still have mine and that would be a cheaper way to try it for me.
Remember this on ps3. Wasn't a perfect game, but story wise, its the closest we'll ever truly get to a Ghostbusters 3 with the original cast (RIP Harold Ramis). Thing is though, if a theoretical ps4 version were to happen, would it be based on the 360 one or the ps3 one which seemed to suffer a decent gfx downgrade? (Like a lot of 360-led multiformats of the era)
Also hope it wouldn't ship with the bug where your progress wasn't saved either! Took months for 'em to finally release a patch & fix it!
A video game based on the cartoon would be amazing.
@BorderlineJon its quite a low res game on PS3, under 720p, with lower textures than the 360 version. Framerate also dips, but I found it playable at the time. There are some Digital Foundry vids out there, for a closer analysis.
Can they include the rail shooty ps2/wii version? I really enjoyed that.
I would love to see the HD version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009) come to the Switch.
