Who needs E3 2019, huh? Sony’s been having its own party, whipping fans into a frenzy with Death Stranding’s release date trailer this week. And that video is now nearing 5 million views little over 24 hours after it debuted – a decent return for an epic nine or so minute clip, no? It’s even more impressive when you consider that the Japanese giant hasn’t been running this as a pre-roll ad – and engagement is high, with over 300k likes.
It means that it’s one of the most viewed trailers of the year so far, with only Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order coming anywhere near it. We suspect that the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailer – which just debuted at the time of typing – will overtake it eventually, but this is perhaps a reminder that you don’t need press conferences to make a splash. Well, especially not when Hideo Kojima is involved, huh?

It's because it looks absolutely amazing. I think it is so well done because the gameplay looks cracking, but then we are still none the wiser to the story. That sense of uncertainty going into it is something I love.
When you announce that a game people weren't planning to see for another 1-2 years is coming out in five months, you're gonna get people's attention.
Say what you like about Kojima but his whenever one of his games comes out it feels like an event.
Personally I don’t think it’s my sort of thing, but I am curious to see if it joins the 10m+ club. Or is it a lot more niche than GOW, Spider-Man and Uncharted?
PS4 games are still kicking, even though the Switch becomes more popular. That’s awesome.
Personally I think people are overselling the "wtf is this game about???" angle a little too much. It's not immediately obvious, but you can understand the premise with a little analysing.
Now imagine the Numbers of what the Last of Us 2 Release Date Trailer is Going to get
I'm really curious to see what caused this sudden & unexpected swap...i mean Last Of Us 2 has been a lock for 2019 since early 2018..
And the fact Kojima just 2 months ago stressed that Death Stranding was behind schedule, it seemed all set for Last Of Us 2 to arrive this fall.
This can't have just been a "more polish" issue...
Very fishy how within 24 hrs we go from "Last Of Us 2 Release Date this week" to "Death Stranding coming November 8th"
I'm seriously excited for this. Also, the website goes into a little more detail on story and gameplay for those wanting a few extra details.
@Orpheus79V so whats it about?
@ellsworth004 The basic premise is that there are two dimensions: the land of the living and the land of the dead. These two dimensions were once seperated, but some cataclysmic event happened, causing them to become connected while damaging our world greatly, leading to a fragmented civilization.
The player will have to reconnect our civilization by travelling the world, while also switching between dimensions (which Kojima confirmed will be done by dying in each one) and presumably undo the cataclysm. Naturally there are some who like things the way they are (Troy and Mads characters) and will try to stop you.
It's a bit out there, and I'm sure there's some crazy stuff that will complicate things as we play, but the premise is easy enough to grasp once you get past the weirdness of the babies, sludge monster and stuff.
@Orpheus79V so im assuming the babies grant some kind of ability

Sounds like the Conjunction of the Spheres from The Witcher.
