With just under two weeks left until launch day, Bethesda has revealed RAGE 2 has gone gold. Development on this collaboration between id Software and Avalanche Studios has concluded, and the open world shooter is now ready for the big time.
The publisher made the announcement over on its official site, where it also went into a few technical details. Many of them concern PC users only, but we now also know the game has some PlayStation 4 Pro enhancements. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to run the game in 4K, but it will push the frame rate cap to 60 frames per second, doubling that of the standard PS4 console.
The title is due to arrive on 14th May. Are you excited to get going in RAGE 2? Shoot some goons in the comments below.

I've not had much interest in RAGE 2, but the news of the Pro version having twice the framerate has me asking how or if that will give Pro players an unfair advantage against standard PS4 gamers in online matches?
Didn't we already know this? Both the Pro and the X have 60fps but no 4K and I wish a few more games this generation had tried to do the same instead of always going down the resolution route
@Turismo4GT Rage 2 doesn't have any multiplayer, so it's all good.
@ShogunRok Ah ok, cheers!
No HDR support?
@Neolit yeah at least an option, it's a bit more common on the X but even then not often enough. Hopefully next generation we'll start to get more options in this regard as it seems they'll have plenty of power to play with
Do you need to have played the first game to understand the second game?
No HDR support?
No traditional multiplayer?
Microtransactions?
@GigaGaia Since Rage was pretty much a brainless romp, I would assume you can jump right in.
@Salmonella Ok thanks. I didn't really like the first game so I quitted after a few hours. However this one seems promising and I am actually tempted.
Looking forward to it, but waiting on reviews first.
@LieutenantFatman Same here. I hope it delivers because the gameplay/gunplay looks absolutely bonkers and amazing.
I hadn’t even really thought about this game but after watching a few trailers it looks really good. Just crazy fun. Might have to pick it up
I’m more likely to buy the game if the frame rate is 60 fps compared to if the resolutions is 4k
If the reviews good I think I’ll buy this.
Big diference in framerate between the consoles, having a og ps4 I will pass this one.
60 fps >>>> 4k, always
@GigaGaia no you don't, there is a trailer been released a little while ago stating that you don't have to play the first to understand what happens. The first one was really good I do advise to play though as it is absolutely smashing.
