New, notable game releases are thin on the ground at the moment, but every now and again something big comes along to change up the UK chart. Last week, RAGE 2 toppled Days Gone from the top spot, but Bethesda's open world shooter has in turn been overtaken by co-op racer Team Sonic Racing. Sumo Digital's third kart racing title starring the blue blur has performed well in terms of physical sales. Apparently, it not only vastly outperformed Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, it's the first Sonic game to achieve number one since 2007's Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, if that counts.
Coming in just behind it is the aforementioned Days Gone. Bend Studio's PlayStation 4 exclusive has been selling consistently well since launch, and so far hasn't gone lower than third place. RAGE 2, meanwhile, has fallen to number four in its second week on sale. The rest of the top 10 is business as usual, with the likes of Mortal Kombat 11, The Division 2, and FIFA 19 all present and correct.

Well done to Sonic but it's a shame to see no sign of A Plagues Tale Innocence anywhere..
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Grand Theft Auto V
Forza Horizon 4
Hanging around like 19 year olds outside secondary school. Just go damn it. You are done, finished, yesterday's news. The teachers hated you anyway so stop mooching up to the school gates.
That's quite impressive for Team Sonic Racing. I mean obviously we don't know the numbers so I'm guessing they're quite low, but still didn't expect it to be anywhere near the top to be honest.
Well it seems like the removal of non-Sonic properties didn't factor all that much into the game's success as you may have been lead to believe based on so many people expressing their disappointment in that decision, in fact it did much better than Transformed. I thought it'd sell well, but I wasn't quite expecting that - especially with CTR around the corner.
Of course this is just the UK charts, so elsewhere could be a different story. Still, that's quite the surprise.
@get2sammyb Lack of half decent racing games on the PS4 and the best rated games this year have limited appeal like DMC. TSR is a good game but the lack of online teammates during the campaign is a massive oversight imo. Good work nonetheless hitting top spot.
Quite pleased it's managed top, I can't help feel Sonic is on his last legs, a failed movie will seal his fate as nothing more than a character in Mario's oylimpics.
The inconsistent framerate on the base PS4 has put me off TSR, 60fps should have been the priority for a racing game. If only Sumo could bring back OutRun Coast to Coast on PS4, but thats not happening...
What's the betting that we could have three karting games in the top ten soon?
@themcnoisy And it's a shame no PS exclusive from last year isn't still representing in top 10 like Mario Kart and Forza, so much for all the GOW praise.
Days gone sold more than mk 11 is pretty impressive
@TheArt Two different types of games with different audiences only makes sense they sell better . Truth is GOW is above them by far.
@RogerRoger Well that's a point but you'd think with the 100 million PSs sold you'd have at least one exclusive from 2018 still lurking in top 10. But hey maybe it's the MP factor in those games - Mario Kart, Forza. Still I think Mario Odyssey was in top 10 this year, our exclusives could do better.
@LightingThor True. But a game(GOW) that was made out to be miles better than RDR2 and won almost all awards should do better on the charts. BOTW(SP & Exclusive) spent quite some time on top 10.
@TheArt God of War still did incredibly well selling over 10 million copies, which is huge for a single format exclusive. Forza Horizon 4 came out much later in the year, so you can't really compare the two. Nintendo first party titles always sell well as the majority of third party titles do not. Every system has there strengths and weaknesses. Just enjoy gaming, does it really matter how long a games stays in the charts for?
Sonic releases just in time for school half term! Clever...
@JohnnyShoulder Lol tell that to game sites who report on top 10s to just enjoy gaming. Figures and charts matter in pretty much anything else, you don't have a point.
@TheArt - Forza is given away free these days in a lot of xbox bundles, if sony gave away GoW free with every new PS4 sold, it'd be in the charts every week. GoW has sold 10m+, about 5 times more than FH4.. I doubt sony are concerned it's not in the charts anymore.
