Turns out this author does get things wrong from time to time. Regardless of what CD Projekt RED has been saying, we didn’t actually expect Cyberpunk 2077 to release on the PlayStation 4 – at least not before the PlayStation 5 had established itself anyway. But between this leaked product packaging and a billboard in Los Angeles, looks like we’re going to have to take the L for the time being.
As posted on ResetEra, this image appears to reveal the packaging for the hotly anticipated role-playing game. While it looks like a Special Edition, it’s worth remembering that the Polish developer often includes bonus items with its retail releases, and the postcard, stickers, map, and soundtrack are similar to the goodies it bundled with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Heck, that game even came with a thank you letter.
A lot of the artwork included here appears to be original, making this a very difficult thing to fake – especially to these kind of standards. There’s no release date on the promo – ignore that ‘2020’ in the top right of the picture – but it’s looking like the game isn’t a million miles away. We now fully expect this to be out within the next 12 months, but all should be confirmed during Microsoft’s presser.

Damn the leaks are going crazy!
This looks very cool but the CD Projekt hype is WAAAAAY overrated so I'm eagerly and cautiously awaiting for more gameplay
So much leakage 😂
It must be getting a release date then if we're collector's editions revealed. Kinda hope it's still next year though, don't want CDPR rushing this one.
I never really do special edition tat stuff but I'll slap my eddies down if Cyberpunk 2077 has one.
@apostatemage I'm with you there mate. Cyberpunk has the potential to be a dream game for me.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered another leak gg
Release date seems inevitable now.
The Witcher 3 was released over 4 years ago now. It seems that this is a lot closer than many gave credit for. My bet is spring of 2020.
I like the yellow title and yellow background. Looks nice.
The gun being cropped is weird...it seems like they coulda just scaled the image down a tiny bit and had it fit in-fame, lol.
Anyway, CAN’T WAIT!!
Prediction of CyberPunk vs. Death Stranding in November.
is that legit ????
I’ll play it on ps5
Please be coming this year. Im well into cyberpunk games and media atm and so im very excited for this one.
I hope there’s a reversible cover with female V, I’m a sucker for that stuff.
@nessisonett That would be nice. I'm 100% going with female V.
wow, that is some of the blandest box art i have seen in a very long time. what the hell are the marketing guys thinking? this has to be fake, right?
For such a cool looking game, this box art blows. It just looks like Call of Duty cover art, which is not good for something this unique and ambitious.
Flashbacks to Bioshock Infinite
Yeah, I want this. Even if it's a special/limited edition.
My day one Wild Hunt release is the best PS4 release package of the generation so far so I would expect this to be showing the standard release based on CDPR history. They always seem to go the extra mile..
honestly it looks pretty generic, if the background wasn't yellow it could have been the cover for any first person shooter
@FullbringIchigo
You're right, a real shame, they'll have a treasure chest full of fantastic images to use that would be a million times more exciting than some dude in a hoodie holding a pistol.
@LieutenantFatman this one from the promos would have been better
@LieutenantFatman actually i decided to make my own and see what it looked like
it does look better
Omg it's actually happening!
@FullbringIchigo
Woah, nice work, that was quick.
@LieutenantFatman well to be fair i already had a lot of the files as i need them to make my YouTube thumbnails (i plan on doing a run through of Cyberpunk when it comes out)
@FullbringIchigo Nice work.
I know what you all mean, but we've gotta remember how boxart works and is made. The primary purpose isn't to be stylish, it's to catch the eye at first glance and then sell you the premise of game as quickly as possible.
So this Cyberpunk boxart might be a bit bland, but it ticks all the boxes as far as marketing goes. You've got a bright colour — that's the eye-catching part. Then you've got a gruff guy in a futuristic, cool jacket holding up a futuristic looking gun.
To a complete casual who doesn't know what Cyberpunk 2077 is, that gives them an immediate basis. And that's ultimately who this is for — if you already know what Cyberpunk 2077 is and you're into it, then you're buying it regardless of whether you think the box art sucks.
@AdamNovice With the statue YongYea has in his streams please. 🤓👍
@ShogunRok And who knows maybe it will change. But the Detriot one was so ugly/boring it made me so sad.
@ShogunRok i hear what you are saying, but that doesn't change the fact this box art is TERRIBLE. there are ways to accomplish the goals you mentioned and be more creative/artistically pleasing at the same time. i would argue that this art doesn't do the game justice since vehicles will play a large role in the game, as will weapons and upgrades... so perhaps some of those aspects should have been featured as well. at the very least, a backdrop of the futuristic setting could have been used to give the player some sense of what to expect. as kaiser stated below, this is just as bland and uninspired as the detroit cover art and that is saying a lot!
the cover looks odd
The rarely content with anything crew of commenters strike again. Hilarious. Nothing any company does is ever right or up to anyone's standards. And of course they could do it better.
It would be pretty incredible if this game was announced for 2019.
Fantastic... Another gorgeous game with a cover that's just a dude standing in front of a bland background with a gun. Because that's what sells here.
@Exlee300p This is a pretty glaring issue, Actually. The "main character looking toward the camera but not into the camera and holding a gun while showing you nothing about the game" has been happening since the dawn of the PS3 era and it's just sickening now.
The terms you use like glaring and sickening to describe the game's box art is very telling in many ways. Firstly the glaring issue according to you assumes three things. Firstly that it is objective fact that the cover is bad. And secondly that it's not accomplishing what it's box art is intended to. Thirdly that it tells you nothing about the game.
The fact that I and many others like the box art disproves this. Box art is meant to draw the unfamiliar in to find out more about the game. The bold yellow definitely does that. Saying it tells you nothing about the game is demonstrably false. The futuristic gun and attire clearly show this is not a sports game, puzzler, or cutesy platformer. Furthermore the title gives you more than enough information or at least where to find more. Finally to use such a deeply reactive term like sickening to describe such an insignificant thing as the box art of a video game is troubling. Sickening is the fact that the demand for smartphones has created literal slave labor in China. And they have nets on the roof of apple factories there to catch the workers who want to kill themselves than be a slave another day. I think a little perspective is in order dude!
