E3 2019: Final Fantasy 8 Remastered Comes to PS4 This Year

Good to finally have this on modern platforms.

Was convinced this would be an "out now" announcement.

I'm kind of excited and and disappointed at the same time. Glad it's coming out but by the looks of things they are not doing much to the visuals. This also kills all hope for a remake one day.

Uh FF8 PC is in no way, shape or form "enhanced," it's a pretty bad port from around the time of the original PS release & did not even get the kind of minor fixes that the VII port did.

YEEEESSSSSSSSSS. Although I'll be getting the Switch version.

Okay, so this is enough of a visual upgrade that I’m gonna give this Final Fantasy another chance. 👌

Just don't hold your breath if you're a ps4 owner & there's any bugs in this on release on this getting patched though! FF7 gets its audio bugs sorted out on Switch/XB & ps4 adopters get nothing but tumbleweeds from Square Enix!

If they’re also remaster the translation maybe I’m in, the ff8 psone translation make squall like an a***ole since he mostly said “whatever” to nearly every question that people around him ask.

Really looking forward to playing this again

Fair enough FF were genre defining games of their day, but isn’t it getting pretty 💩y, that the best we have to look forward too is remakes of classic games?. Look at the money and time it takes to redo them it would cost the same to make a new one?. So why all the remakes? I’m all about progression, not regression. Seems like the industry is running out of ideas for the longevity of new games. It’s simply same old same, kinda like the movie industry, re shoot,re package, re sell. Thoughts people???...........

@Deanvon01 I was actually thinking to myself how the ps2 was great for new releases, ps3 was the golden age where there were so many different devs, putting out tonnes of games, so that it was impossible near enough to keep up with what was being put out there, and some really great things in the mix also. Kingdoms of alamur (?), 3d dot game hero, among many others, were such rare seeming releases or were picked up by hardly anyone, and yet so many great games go unheard of, but ps4 is mostly just sequels to games we know, a lot of big budget devs putting out pretty much the same games, or rehashing the classics because they'll sell better than a new ip. Maybe people are lost for ideas, I don't know, but there are an increase in indy devs putting out smaller, hidden gems also, so I guess you have to take that for what it is..

If they release this retail with a PS1 retro sleeve i will buy it day one.

I was so thrilled to see this announced!Loved this game but I never managed to finish it.Now I'm going to make that a mission.
I hope it gets a retail edition but I can't see it happening..whatever.

Any idea if it will have the boosts that 7 and 9 had? The speed mode, god mode and no encounters?

Ive been waiting and craving this since years .. more excited for this than for the FF7 remake since 8 is way higher on my personal list of my all time fav FF games ^^ I can’t wait omg

@consolfreak1982 ff8 was definately the best ff by far. I have the psone version on the vita though, so they will have to show me a reason to buy this as Vita is life...

@Splints i really loved FF8 on the ps1 it got me way more involved in the characters like any other FF before - and omg I love Edea, one of the most charismatic villains, her theme and the scene when she get up the throne still give me goosebumps never played it on vita or anything although I own one (vita rocks indeed!) so im like really really hyped to replay it - still got the og walkthrough book lol will come in handy again I’m sure ^^
