Cyberpunk 2077’s looking like it’s going to be one of the biggest PlayStation 4 games of the generation – both in terms of scope and file size. While it’s far from a confirmation, the PlayStation Store pre-order page for CD Projekt RED’s hotly anticipated role-playing game mentions that the release will require 80GB of hard drive space minimum.
This is more than the bulky Days Gone but slightly less than the substantial Red Dead Redemption 2. Should the file size turn out to be true, it will be interesting to see whether the Polish developer decides to follow Rockstar’s lead and ship the title on two discs – or mandate a rather hefty patch to add in the data missing from the Blu-ray.

Wasn't Doom that size at one point?, I have a 100gb hole where Red Dead used to sit so I'm good and I wonder what size Final Fantasy VII will be given the quality of those videos
I'm sure my PS4 keeps giving me mean looks every time a 50gb plus game gets put into it.
My poor hard drive is full but i'd delete everything for this.
Well it won't even make it into my top ten games (by file size)
well that's that off my Day One list then, i'm saving HDD space for the 2 blu-rays worth of data that is the FFVII Remake
Going digital for this for sure.
As games become more advanced and more complex, they also become larger in data size. Who could have foreseen such an unlikely anomaly!
This, final fantasy 7, death stranding and TLOU2 will probably take the majority of my 1tb drive would be my guess
is that going to be 160 GB on PS5...
As long as the full game is on the physical version and doesn't require a super large day 1 patch to play it, then I'm alright with this.
@Rob_230 Yeah but you're forgetting about the patches,mate! Here I thought I was keeping one step ahead upgrading my launch ps4 to 1TB & going for a 2GB external when they added it as an option!
Didn't get FFXV myself,but remember when Square claimed they delayed its release to reduce the day one patch size? Fun times!!
Lets hope there's some scope for external HDD expansion to work with the SSD tech in ps5-much less what the patches are gonna be like...
@crimsontadpoles hopefully they’ll go the RDR2 route and release it on 2 discs. I’m sure they can afford to do so, after all it’s gonna be a HUGE seller.
@FullbringIchigo
You do know you can actually delete stuff to make more room, right? 😊
@BrettAwesome yes but i just want to make sure i have room for FFVII Remake first because it comes on 2 blu-rays but there is also going the be the inevitable Day one patch, DLC's and other updates that games have now a days
besides i have already removed every game i no longer play or don't have loads of DLC and stuff for and because i live in a rural area games with large downloads take ages so i would rather not remove those unless i absolutely had too
of course once i get my XBOX back from my brother i could always get it on that (his stopped working so he is borrowing mine until he can get a new one)
More than happy to free up double that space for anything CD Projekt Red! That said, anything of this size is definitely a physical copy purchase for me, even in my relatively fast internet area.
@FullbringIchigo
Fair enough 🙂
My 4TB is filling up faster than I thought.
Anything that will be PS4/PS5 cross-platform can wait.
After 2019, I will approach all releases with a 'better off waiting' attitude.
I'd install this even if it was 800 GB let alone 80...
I'm picking up the physical version. But if this is game is at least as good as it looks, I'll buy a digital version too for convenience sake
Yeah I am probably going to have to pick up a terabyte portable harddrive sooner rather than later so I don't have to keep deleting games to make room for games like this. I am sure the game will be worth it though.
