A new game announcement straight outta China, The Oriental Exorcist is a side-scrolling action role-playing title. It's definitely got a bit of Vanillaware to it, but its dark and gritty visual design gives it a different kind of edge. The trailer above shows the project in action, and we think it looks very promising indeed.
The Oriental Exorcist is due out at some point in 2020 according to its Steam page, and while it is also confirmed for PlayStation 4, we don't know if both versions will release at the same time. Still, this is one to keep an eye on.

Oh my god... this reminds me of Muramasa: The Demon Blade. I hope it turns out to be good
Awful name but looks very promising.
Really has a lot of promise. It reminds me of another 2d chinese action side scroller called Bladed Fury, which was pretty good.
Of course, I do hope it turns out good as Bladed Fury, and not as mediocre as Hidden Dragon, since the issue with this kind of games is that they look good but the gameplay isn't much to write home about.
Also, in regards to the title, the word "Oriental" here is possibly a localization problem, probably from the word 东方 which is often translated as "Oriental" but can also just mean "The East", so it could most likely be called The Eastern Exorcist.
definitely looks like a vanilla ware game.it reminds me of muramasa rebirth.cool.word up son
I loved playing Muramasa on my Vita and PS TV. This also reminds me of Vanillaware's game.
Speaking of Vanillaware when's 13 Sentinels releasing in the West?
Damn, when I saw the name Oriental Exorcist I was hoping for a game based on those classic 80's Hong Kong Kung Fu flicks like Encounters of the Spooky Kind & Mr Vampire etc.
Still, this side scrolling swordplay action RPG looks decent enough so will put it on my list of games to watch out for next year.
