The creators of Limbo and Inside, two sinister and brilliant side-scrolling adventures, is making something new. We knew this already thanks to an interview from last year, but some fresh images have now surfaced online -- thanks to Playdead's own website, no less.
Hidden away in job vacancies, this concept art looks fantastic, and hints at yet another deliciously melancholy world to explore.
Explore seems to be the right word, too, as it was hinted during the aforementioned interview that this new game will ditch the studio's usual 2D perspective in favour of something more open. It certainly sounds good to us -- whatever Playdead's next title turns out to be, we're excited to learn more.
Are you looking forward to the new game from Playdead? What do you think of this new artwork? Play something a little more cheerful in the comments below.

I most certainly am. I'm a big fan fo Limbo and Inside and this looks just as atmospheric. Will be fascinating to see how their game style transitions to an alternative perspective.
I'll miss the 2d perspective personally. Hopefully it will be good though.
@tomassi I know what you mean, but judging by the screenshots I'm not sure it'll be complete 3D either. Maybe 2.5? I know they say there'll be more exploration, but that could be in a metroidvania kind of way, back and forth instead of open-worldy.
I already love this.
Limbo and inside were amazing. Can't wait to play this (hopefully) soon!
Possibly my most anticipated game this. Limbo and Inside are fantastic so I've no reason not to believe in them for this too.
Hoo boy, they don't make a container big enough to hold all my hype for this game!
Oh, that's pretty. Looking forward to this for sure.
Ill take a great 2D game over a mediocre 3D game any day. Lets see of the hit the same great heights as with the 2D classics.
@PaperyWhiteBoy 2.5D is fine by me. As much as people don't like them the style works well in Assassins Creed Chronicles for instance.
