CD Projekt Red has at least hinted at this before, but now the developer has come out and basically said "hey, we're definitely going to make more Witcher games". As Polygon writes, the company's latest financial report confirms that it's moving to a "dual-franchise" model going forward. This means that it'll be working on both Cyberpunk and The Witcher at the same time.
This news comes as no real surprise. CD Projekt Red has expanded significantly since the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt back in 2015. It's opened new studios and brought on hundreds of additional employees in that time.
As for when we'll actually hear of the next game in The Witcher series, we don't know. Cyberpunk 2077 is still set to release in April 2020, and obviously, next-generation consoles are expected to arrive before 2021. It'll likely be at least a couple of years until we get any Witcher news then, but hey, when it comes to CD Projekt Red, we're more than willing to wait.

Can we get a remaster of the first please/thank you
@KnightWolf
and the second one too!
@KnightWolf that and the second would be awesome
maybe even a PS5 Trilogy release
Oh yeah! **Dances excitedly**
I wouldn't mind a standalone game with Ciri as I thought the sections with her in TW3 were ace.
I'll chip in with maybe a Vesimer prequel, when there was even greater elf/human conflict?
I seem to remember seeing a roadmap from CDPR stating that they were releasing another AAA title by 2021. Guessing that one is Witcher related?
@DecrepitReflex Yeah I was wondering if that came up at all in the financial report. Pretty sure it was financial year 2021 but still only gives them a year after CyberPunk comes out.
Geralt, Lambert and Eskel drunken all night game please.
Obviously Geralts story has finished so the focus will be on another Witcher. I will be happy with more games in the Witcher universe and it will be interesting to see how CDPR decide to approach a new game. Siri could be a lead for the next game(s) but they could easily go back or jump forward in time with a completely new cast. Just because Geralt's story has finished, he, and all the other characters we got to know could still be around for cameo's. Maybe it would be interesting to jump a little further ahead and we hear how these other characters lived out their life.
I've heard rumours that a Witcher game starring Ciri was in development so we'll see.
Coming soon from Projekt Red: The exciting new rhythm action game Kaer Morhen Megamix! Geralt and all your favourite Witcher characters meet their most fearsome foe yet - the dancefloor!
I guess I'm in the minority, but I was fine with the idea of The Witcher 3 being the last game in the series ever. It's my favorite game of the decade, but I'm not sure I want another one. Does anyone else feel the same way or am I speaking crazy talk?
I have to admit, I find The Witcher world entrancing. A new game focusing on another protagonist, like Ciri, would be welcome.
Brilliant news, best single player game of this millennium (for me).
@MinerWilly Ditto.
@AdamNovice I sincerely hope that is the case.
One of the best Western RPGs I've ever played! Yes please to Witcher 4. Love Geralt chatting up the chicks! Geralt is a man hero! And the babes are babe heroes! Love this intense heterosexual love
I recently built my very first budget gaming PC, and what was the first game I installed on it? You guessed it! The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.
I always wanted to start the series but I didn’t want to jump straight to The Witcher 3, so I waited until I got a PC that could handle the first game.
I gotta say, I’m only at the first town Geralt goes to on his own where the ghost dogs come out at night, but this game is amazing! I am having a really fun time with it, and it’s also nice to take a break from playing games with trophies as well.
I’m really impressed with the first game so far and I’m looking forward to playing through it slowly. But I guess now I can say I’m a fan of the series and I’m glad they are continuing it. Besides, with the success of The Witcher 3, I couldn’t imagine them not making another entry.
I'm about to finish Blood and Wine, gonna try Thronebreaker next.. and I get THIS news ?? Wow... It's a great time to be a gamer 💚
Is Geralt's story really done? I would be down for a Ciri-focused game but I wouldn't write off the White Wolf just yet.
It's great news regardless.
@deepspace5d Darn it. I guessed wrong. My guess was Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition.
@Eldritch Close....but no Jack and Coke.
@RBMango Im totally with you. The story came to an end on a high and it should stay that way
