Did you know there’s a Drone Champions League? No, us neither – but there is, and now there’s an official video game based on it. Developed by Climax Studios and published by THQ Nordic, the upcoming DCL: The Game will find you flying on “the world’s most spectacular Drone Racing tracks”.
Due out next year on the PlayStation 4, the title will feature over 30 courses and online multiplayer. And don’t worry if you’re not a drone flying pro: in addition to a full simulation mode, there’ll also be an arcade option for novices to get to grips with the controls.

But does it have a drone building simulator? Because if not...missed opportunity. Game league could have built fans and hobbyists to bolster real league.
I'm in! Put VR support, and I'm in day one!
The big question is whether there will be any DCL DLC I can play on my LCD
@NoxAeturnus Liftoff on PC kind of has this with its drone builders. You don’t need to bust out the (virtual) soldering iron or anything and FC + ESCs aren’t modelled at all but it’s got most of the rest. I don’t recommend building your own drone at first anyways. Thing I’ve been recommending to people for months is the Tinyhawk RTF bundle.
The thing I’m more concerned about with this is how it flies. Acro (this is the default mode people race in and unlike with a photography drone it doesn’t return to level when you let go off the sticks and doesn’t have a maximum angle so you can do all kinds of tricks) is quite tricky to fly and I can see people getting frustrated and quitting. That plus the fact that throttle is going to be confusing as it’s on a centring analogue stick (racing quads don’t have altitude control so the throttle doesn’t self centre giving you more control).
If anyone has any quad questions let me know. I’ve been flying for 4 years and while I’m not by any stretch good at racing I have filled my brain with lots of quadcopter stuff.
