It has become common knowledge that Control does not run very well on either the base PlayStation 4 or its Pro counterpart, but in an official post last week, Remedy stated that it was working hard on rectifying issues and improving performance across the board. The first of those updates has now arrived, with the 1.03 patch available for download on PS4 now.
The biggest fix is, of course, improved stability across all platforms. Control's frame rate plummets during heavy combat sequences, and so let's hope this update goes a long way to fixing that. Elsewhere, the map should load much faster now when selected and some bugs and glitches have been ironed out. For a full list of patch notes, head on over to Game Revolution.
Were you waiting for these fixes to be implemented before playing Control? Let us know in the comments below.

I think the framerate is uneven because the game is too cpu dependent, all that real-time wall/desk/glass/environment destruction is too taxing on console cpu. I definitely hope remedy will update it to 60 fps for ps5 when the console released next year
I really hope this improves things. I'm loving the game, but it's extremely choppy.
Patch out before XO and PC? Remedy bought by Sony confirmed
Decided to wait on the game because of these issues. Looks awesome though so I'm really looking forward to hearing whether or not this and future patches make it a little smoother.
Atleast they fixed the mission where I could not progress so thats a start. Will try out combat tonight if combat lag/framerate issues have not been fixed then I will get rid of the game.
Loved the game, just got the platinum so won’t be jumping back in until the first DLC hits next year.
I legitimately thought the audio delay in the Darling videos was an intentional design choice to make them stranger.
I loved what I played, looking forward to going back to it. Wondering if I’ll need to start it again though now.

Cool! Was it a hard plat to get?
Man I was really hoping to see if they fixed the issue with having no sound when using your shield. Sometimes when I go to use my shield the sound will be quiet and the debrie of rocks and other things are just floating in the air in silence. So I always have to drop my shield and let my energy go back up and do the shield again for it to work. I hope they fix this issue but other than that I have no problems. The game plays perfect for me..
@Neolit Still not a guarantee to happen though. It could be stuck on PS4.

The gap between the high-end PC and PS4 performance means Control would benefit greatly from a PS5 port. But it would be pointless to wait for one because it’s impossible to say if it would ever happen.
We already know that PS4 backwards compatibility on the PS5 for pro enhanced games will be the equivalent of playing them on the PS4 pro not the bass PS4. Those using a base PS4 who are planning to get a PS5 at launch would certainly have a better experience playing on PS5.
The update has caused a significantly greater amount of slowdown for me and I am playing on a pro.
Enemy heavy areas are virtually unplayable and I didn’t really have any major problems before the update.
@BrettAwesome
Not really just a bit of a grind at the end finding the secret rooms and doing all the side missions to max out your stats.
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk
Sounds doable 🙂 thanks 👍
