Pinch us! We never thought we’d see the return of cult PSone franchise MediEvil, but Other Ocean’s upcoming PlayStation 4 remake has gone gold. For those uncertain on the technical terminology, this effectively means that the title is complete and ready for manufacturing. Here’s what the final master looks like:
Of course, while it was never really in doubt, this means that the game will hit its previously announced 25th October release date, so you can be confident you’ll be reacquainting yourself with Sir Dan and co in time for Halloween. The latest gameplay footage is looking great – are you eager to revisit Gallowmere in a few weeks?

Super excited for this. Hopefully the Platinum is achievable.
Sir Dan's had more resurrections then Lazarus at this point.

N.i.c.e.My boy sir dan is back in the graveyard.word up son
Excellent news!
@AdamNovice well didnt Lazarus only have one? 😃
I'm pretty excited.
Haven't played my original copies of the first and sequel in quite a few years.
Do all games go gold over a month before launch?
I know some companies make a big deal over going gold and keep that as a piece of memorabilia. For example the God of War team gave it to their mega fan with the biggest GoW collection.
HOWEVER - the gold version of certain games must be unrecognisable from their launch game with the day one patches and studios rushing out broken games.
If a studio goes gold and it is as is when launched, they have my respect.
@Flaming_Kaiser I don't think I've known any game this gen that was patch free! What did we do in the PS2 days when you just got a disc?!
@sanderson72 If a game had bugs and framerate issues we were stuck with it pretty much.
going gold this early is never good news these days. i expect the worst, broken unfinished game, half the game is a 20gb bug fix patch to download and game on disc is unplayable without it... yes its grim, blame the developers for half arse it 90% of the time this gen.
@Kienda they need at least a month to press the game disc and distribute the game to retailers worldwide. so they pretty much did go gold one week before the deadline. my guess is that they are gonna use this week they had left over to finish up the game bug fix patch, that they will release day one.
and did you know guys that there is actually a physical deluxe version with a steelbook that is gonna be released for this. but of course its only sold at selected places and not worldwide...
@sanderson72 Rejoice that it worked 99,9%.😉
@sanderson72 Limited Run Games sells the indies mostly without the need of a patch. 🤗
@AdamNovice @Flaming_Kaiser
That's my point, I don't remember that many games that had frame rate issues or game breaking bugs in the PS2 era because they were tested to death before it even went gold, never mind released. I suspect the Indies are probably tested 'old school' and get released when it's stable.
@sanderson72 Yeah now we are the Beta testers. Its even a bonus to do it. 😔
@sanderson72 They used to update the discs when making a new batch. So earlier versions of the games could have issues or things that disappeared in later versions. Vice City is a good example that had quite a few incarnations over its time. The difference is now we get the updates for free, back then you either had to stuck it up or buy the game again.
