Well, like you, we wish we were playing The Last of Us: Part II this weekend – but sadly we’re going to have to wait a few more months for that. In the meantime, there’s plenty on our docket, with October and November both looking particularly stacked. Here’s what we’re playing this weekend.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I’m a bit overwhelmed with legacy reviews that I probably should have published months ago, so I’m going to try and churn through those. Other than that, I’ll be digging into my usual array of sports titles. Standard.
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
There’s plenty I want to play this weekend, but it’ll all have to wait – as Robert Ramsey would say, a game needs reviewed. I’ll be playing Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and will tell you all about it in the coming days.
Jamie O’Neill, Reviewer
I'm piloting the R-9 Arrowhead and blocking Bydo attacks with its Force orb as I'll boot up my PSone R-Types compilation disc, partially to look at the extensive influence of this classic shooter, but mainly because the first R-Type is a real favourite of mine.
A short but sweet WAYP from the Push Square editorial team, then, but we’d love to know what you’re playing in the comments section below. Drop a comment below!

I’ll be trying not to play too much RDR2 online as I want to clear as much of my backlog before February as possible. Therefore I will continue with massive games AC Odyssey and Persona 5.
Will go through Trine 1 & 2 again, COD WWII, and will go through Link's Awakening on Switch again
Lot of great game came out recently. I will play coop Borderlands 3 with GF, pes 2020 (amazing game this year), wreck fest and Code vein, with the Surge 2 in the waiting list
@RogerRoger I found Dungeons 6 and 7 the most difficult. Finally completed it last night though
Will be wandering the wasteland for that still out of reach platinum for fallout 4. Also Torchlight 2 and metro redux
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin on PS4. Luna, The Wolf (Her name totally isn't a riff on ol' Patches the Hyena) is gearing up for her battle against The Last Giant
Meanwhile on PS2 it's Jade Cocoon 2 again. Still rolling through the forests, end getting a little closer
Probably see those two titles from me a lot over the coming weeks
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne!
Probably on the grind train with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and maybe some Untitled Goose game. Maybe...
Played a bit of starlink atlas on switch earlier, the combat is actually fun but the rest is horrific!! Story makes Saturday morning cartoon look like the shawshank redemption and the ubisoft open world is meh. At least the toy ship was worth the tenner and my daughter liked that. Hopefully some more rise of the tomb raider later
Just started Assassins Creed Origins, and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with it to be honest. Not sure if open world is my jam right now.
Dragon age inquisition goty edition.and darksiders 3.word ☝ up son
After skipping 18 and 19 I'm back on with FIFA 20 and I feel the break is making me enjoy it immensely compared to maybe someone who just came from 19. I mean I enjoyed PES 2018 a lot but when all is said and done it's quite bland and empty with all the repetitive stadiums, crowds, commentary, no respective league kit fonts or presentations, few boots, now even worse no UEFA. The hard work of adding and deleting option files due to limits etc just made me miss FIFA's completeness and convenience. And the old argument - PES has better gameplay where it matters most isn't entirely true because both are enjoyable in their own right. What's gameplay with bland atmosphere, fake kit fonts, few stadiums etc - they also MATTER.
Plus, God of War, I'm loving exploring Midgard and all sorts of places I missed on my 1st playthrough. The game doesn't encourage you to explore too much as angry man Kratos whines about side quests so much you'll just follow the main goal and then it'll feel short. The art of GoW is just too gorgeous.
And then RDR2, my network's not making me enjoy RDO or GTAO. Some AC Odyssey. I beat Sniper Elite 4. That's about it.
@Hootnoodle my last trophy to platinum of Fallout 4 was the - Reach Maximum Happiness in a Settlement - was really annoying!
What’s up guys, still on COD: MW3. I just finished up survival mode and got to wave 15 minimum in all 16 maps. Now I’m on Spec Ops Mission mode, where I have to earn 3 stars in all 16 missions for a total of 48 stars. I’ve only completed the first mission so far, so 45 more stars to go!
Happy gaming everyone.
Recently my gaming time been reduced greatly. This weekend finally get some times off. Going to carry on the main story for AC Odyssey alongside RDR2 (Sigh...two HUGE games!). Enjoying every second of both.
Might mix in some Detroit Become Human. I want to make Connor the villain & Markus as good guy this time round & face off against each other with the epic final battle.
With Final Fantasy 7 finally finished, I'm spending some time with my Switch this weekend playing LoZ Link's Awakening.
I finally get to play Dragon Quest XI on Switch after more than three years of waiting! It's great, so far.
I'm just kind of playing bits and pieces of Gears 5, Bloodstained, Mortal Kombat 11 and some retro games whilst I wait for The Outer Worlds and Star Wars to come out
Resident Evil 2 (N64) - Making my way around the sewer with the lovely Ada Wong.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified (Vita) - Mostly TDM with some friends.
Asphalt 5 (Windows Phone) - In the home stretch now.
Zoo Tycoon Friends (Windows Store) - Got me a lion!
Similar list to last weekend for me, so Borderlands 3, Torchlight 2 (at £15.99 this game is great value for money), Zelda Links Awakening (already stuck on an early dungeon 🙄), Greedfall, WRC8, and some Bus simulator. I would have been playing FIFA 20 as well, but after hearing about the mess they’ve made of career mode I’ve decided to wait.
Playing some Witcher 3 and Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Also, there should be a new legacy target to deal with in Hitman 2, and I'm almost done with the last few achievements in Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc.
For me PES2020 on PS4
and a bit of Guacamele 2 and Astral chain on the switch.
Just Borderlands 3 for me. My 1HP Moze build on mayhem tier 3 is too much fun to play anything else. Nothing stands a chance!
PS Plus keeps me busy, finally finished sniper elite 4, now just started on Arkham Knight...will also squeeze in some Gravel 😊
I’ve just finished dungeon number 4 in Links Awakening so there will be more of that this weekend. I’ve played a bit of Wolfenstein 2 as I try to clear out some backlog so I’ll chip away at that over the next few weeks, it’s pretty mindless fun. I’ll also be checking out the Ghost Recon beta and maybe some borderlands 3 where I’m halfway through the campaign I reckon. Finally a bit of Skyrim on Switch too
Hello everyone, I'll be playing Divinity original sin 2. What a gem of a game, had no idea it was so captivating and fun. Happy gaming!
On ps4 I'm playing medievil demo, I really like the game atmosphere, it’s like playing tim burton movie. It’s nice to play normal short game between all my open world games backlog, I think I’ll preordered it after the reviews. I hope the game will have better performance than the demo though. On switch I’m playing ori demo, it’s good, I think I’m gonna buy the full demo. Beside ori, I’m playing blasphemous, this game is great but maan, I really really hate the one hit kill spike, like seriously, this is the first metroidvania that I play that has one hit kill spike.
Finally my switch lite just arrive yesterday , man I really like this lite design, it’s small and cute, it remind me of my gameboy advance, and it’s light too. I do have some problem with it compared to original switch though, like the speaker is more quiet, the screen is smaller because the bezel is too big, while the dpad is better than the switch it’s too hard to move diagonally (testing it on nes double dragon), and no tv out is a big one
But in the end I still like the lite way more than the original switch because it’s more fun to pick up and play, playing games on it is way better experience than on my heavy and too wide original switch, every time I open my drawer I always want to check if there’s something new in News app on the lite or play games just for a couple of minutes.
Just started Arkham knight that we got through plus. My first of the batman games, i can see where Insomniacs inspiration for Spider-man came from.
I'm off for the next week so I'll hopefully bash through my back log...or at least through my games im currently playing..I
I finally FINALLY platinumed Assassins Creed Odyssey only after 4 months or so,so I'm super chuffed about that but now I'm playing the dlc..So I'm still not finished..
Trails Of Cold Steel 2,Zelda Links Awakening,Octopath travellor and Ori And The Blind Forest (Switch Edition) are other games that will be grabbing my attention.
Nearly done with Celeste, which I started early in the week. 25 hours over four days. I'm exhausted.
Samurai Showdown and going to try to get back into Tekken 7 on PS4. Still playing some classic games on the Sega Genesis Mini.
I'll be playing Final Fantasy 9 on it's not very good PS4 port.
@RogerRoger i am playing that too BUT i still hate the auto save system and when i died and was sent right back to the start of the level i thought "screw this, i'll just skip it and go to the next one" which i did but that has now completely disabled all trophies on that playthrough so i thought "screw it if i can't get trophies now i'll just put on god mode and own everything"
and now it's a lot more fun, great classic game but not a very good port, so once i have played though it i'll go back to the P.C version, 10 times better
and the FMV cut scenes look like crap
Finally about to finish AC: Origins, on the last part of Curse of Pharaohs DLC then done. Some hard bosses in it though !
Also, just completed Metro Exodus - it was superb, one of the finest story based, single player FPS's since Half Life 2, the final level is one of the most creepy, disturbing video game locales ever ! Highly recommended
Will also play PES 2020, Gears 5 and some FF14
Happy Gaming guys !
Red Dead Online as always, a bit more Darksiders 3 with the awesome Fury and I'll try some more to get into the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta.
Hollow Knight, Soul Calibur VI and SW BF2 to check out the new content. All on PS4.
Iconoclasts and 99 Vidas on Vita.
Nintendo Switch exclusive Ori and the Blind Forest ( if MS/media can call a multiplatform game exclusive, so can I!), probably going to pick up Ni No Kuni, playing a bit of Borderlands 3 and possibly some private Horde in Gears 5.
@Nintyfan yeah I’m playing Ori on switch also. Great game so far.
Is one of those rare games in that it’s an Xbox exclusive (or was) that is good!
Dragonquest Heroes 2 i played it for 120 hours already. I just want to Platinum the game.
Still on holiday so still no consoles so I'll finish Mario Advance (bros 2) and get a bit further into Mario and Luigi SS on 3DS. It is a lovely remake. I didn't get into it on GBA but this is much more fun.
@TheArt yeah that's one of my last ones to get. Everytime I move away from the settlement the happiness drops. So I'm arguing with my settlers, demanding they stay happy in a awful world. Tbh I have given them a lot of lights and gym equipment, so I wonder why they are not happy hahahaha 😂😂😂
@Hootnoodle 😁 I had to give up and use online guides for that one. That and the Find 50 Bobbleheads, they're so tiny they're almost impossible to find in that massive open world without help.
@RogerRoger tell me about it, i have already had to delete some of them, it's stupid
it's really badly optimised port, the version released on the original XBOX was better than this one
makes me a bit weary of the Jedi Academy release now
@RogerRoger i'll just stick to the P.C version
