When it comes to visuals, Death Stranding appears to have knocked it out of the park. We noted in our review of the unique PlayStation 4 title that the graphics are outstanding, and the tech heads at Digital Foundry concur. In its breakdown of the game's technical performance, it's come away mightily impressed with the game, calling it a "new benchmark for this console generation". This isn't a huge surprise, considering the title runs on a later version of the engine that brought us Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Digital Foundry draws attention to the image quality, attention to detail, and animation when discussing the high points of Death Stranding's presentation. Character models are also highly praised; eyes avoid the uncanny valley look that plagues a lot of modern titles. With checkerboard 4K, HDR, and a huge draw distance, it sounds like the PS4 Pro delivers a top of the line visual experience. Frame rate seems almost completely locked to 30 frames a second, although it will apparently dip slightly below that during certain cutscenes. Hopefully the standard PS4 can hold up its end of the bargain, but we imagine it'll be similarly impressive.
You can see the game in action in the above video, or read more on the game's technical aspects through here.

I may actually wait for next year when I plan a 4k tv and a new console I heard that's coming.
Does look mighty purty
I mean Horizon Zero Dawn is such an outstanding game! Graphics-wise, gameplay-wise...top notch! As for Death Stranding, I won't be picking it up quickly. The gameplay like I suspected is questionable and the reviews are so divisive.
Can't wait to try it on my tv
I wonder what Decima engine will do on ps5.... I am looking to you, Horizon Zero Dawn 2...
its a taste of what the ps5 will bring us
The graphics look incredible, but that is of the most boring, bland looking open worlds I've ever seen in a game.
@TheArt They're not that divisive. Sure a few really didn't like it but most were good to great.
Anyway, the best art always splits opinion, take the recent 'Joker' for example (which I loved), but this isn't necessarily a bad thing anyway.
Sometimes it's good to play or watch something that's a bit weird, outside the norm. I'm still not sure when I will buy Death Stranding but I most definitely will give it a whirl at some point. It looks different, quirky, bold, beautiful and quite unique.
I thought that's what gamers wanted? Something a bit different? Give it a go, it might surprise you.
Don't forget , not everyone liked RDR2 (although I most assuredly do!) but did you listen to them?
@Col_McCafferty Actually EVERY reviewer loved RDR2(check MC), I don't really pay attention to user reviews. But with DS, when a few major sites like IGN and Gamesradar who are often generous with scores go that low, it's a cause for concern. I don't listen to those"who takes IGN seriously" comments. For the past few years I've been agreeing with 90% of their scores. And then though this game tries to be different, the general consensus is that it's the same fetch quests we've seen in most open worlds. I might definitely pick it up one day but not now.
question is will it send the base PS4 fan into overdrive when you play it?
@TheArt (actually EVERY reviewer loved RDR2) that is not true!
