We know for sure that BioWare is currently working on the next Dragon Age -- commonly referred to as Dragon Age 4 -- but according to a lengthy report by Jason Schreier on Kotaku, that's not all BioWare has in the oven. Alongside what sounds like it could be a significant overhaul of the ill-fated ANTHEM, the Canadian developer apparently has a new Mass Effect title in the early stages of development at its Edmonton base.
The article doesn't go into any real detail on the subject, but it does state that the project is supposedly being headed by studio veteran Mike Gamble. Gamble was a lead producer on both ANTHEM and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Before that, he was a producer on Mass Effect 3 and its DLC, and a project manager on Mass Effect 2.
If accurate, this leak comes as no huge surprise. Back at E3 last year, BioWare said that it would like return to Mass Effect at some point, and it then teased "secret" Mass Effect projects a month later. In the meantime, why not release a remastered Mass Effect Trilogy? It's not like we've spent the entire generation asking for it or anything...
Do you have any hope for a new Mass Effect game? Pray to Commander Shepard in the comments section below.

Yes please.
Mass Effect: Anthem
Mass Effect ended in ME3 for me, everything else is just nonsense only to milk the franchise. They need to make a remastered collection so we can enjoy the trilogy on 4k 60fps on PS4.
After Andromeda I'm sad to say that I don't have much faith in BioWare making another Mass Effect game that lives up to the original trilogy.
Add a good story with decent writing to the fantastic combat of Andromeda and they could be onto a winner. Also some likeable characters, more Shepard, Mordin and Peebee rather than Ryder, Jacob and Liam.
I don’t even know anymore. I’d love a new ME but they’d just mess it up. I’d take remasters though.
@ApostateMage Liam was so annoying I wanted the option to eject him from an airlock.
I quite enjoyed Andromeda but the crew weren’t great. I did a play through where I didn’t speak a word to my crew mates despite continuously being told that they wanted to talk to me. It became quite funny.
Mass Effect trilogy remastered in 4K is all we want.
Surprised EA haven't done this already with how money hungry they are.
That guys resume took a nose dive....no real faith in DA4 or ME5 being any good
MEA got so much unnecessary hate it didnt deserve. A lot to improve but a very decent game.
@ShogunRok After Andromeda and Anthem you shouldn't have any faith in Bioware, period.
overhauling anthem, developing DA4, and working on a new mass effect at the same?. call me sceptical. even if it's true, it would need to be a reboot.. because i wouldn't play a sequel that follows on from andromeda. most of it was rubbish, and i literally didn't care about rider or any of her crew. shepherd and her/his crew were a hard act to follow, and the characters in MEA came up well short.
@Octane the fact that Anthem is supposedly getting a huge overhaul and the way EA operate i wouldn't be surprised if that was the case
Honestly, stuff EA and Bioware, I don't trust them to make another Mass Effect, let alone a good one.
Just give us a Mass Effect Trilogy remaster.
@nessisonett Something we can agree on
A prequel would work well for Mass Effect set around the time of the First Contact War.
Today’s BioWare doesn’t seem to be the same as BioWare of old sadly...
...it's slated for launch in a broken state on PS6
Just put the trilogy on ps4, or at least put 3 on steam.
@grahamd I really enjoyed the combat but everything else fell flat for me.
@RogerRoger I Agree Andromeda Wasn't Perfect But Nether Was The Original Mass Effect Contrary To What The Fan Base Will Have you Believe The 2nd Game Was Where Everything Started Getting Good Both From A Story And character Stand point Because It Bulit Off Of EverythingThe First Game Had Already Put in Place I Would Like To See The Same From Andromeda
Sorry I'm going to have to bury this Andromeergderrrgh love in but it was pathetic. Go and watch the videos of the original trilogy. The suspense, writing, characters, new tech and pioneering story branches. Then watch Andreerdarrhaaa and its a load of C grade crap.
I do not trust this Bioware. Stripped of its organic life and now just a husk waiting for a shot from a Cerberus Skunkworks VI and no amount of EAs spacial distortion can ever change my mind.
@nessisonett We all want a trilogy remastered, but watch BioWare remaster Andromeda instead and have it as a PS5 launch title. Hahah.
I'm gonna start playing EA hate bingo with the amount of stuff I need to read these days. Whether it's pathetic comments or bandwagon opinions shoved down my throat, they're a whole load of cringe.
Bioware messed up, not EA.
I'll give BioWare a chance, but I'll definitely have my expectations pretty low.
Please everybody just wants a remastered trilogy since it probably gonna be 4 or 5 years before we see any new mass effect game
No new Mass Effect for me until they've completely fixed Andromeda. So, new animations, new scripts, better voice actors, more story, better antagonists, and actual plot with a massive cliffhanger. When they've fixed that game, they can start working on a sequel, because in all honesty...Andromeda had the potential to go for a trilogy.
Also, EA....don't you DARE shoehorn micro transactions into the campaign.
Oh great! First we’ll be getting Anthem with dragons, then not long after that we’ll have ANTHEM Effect Andromeda 2! Not real hyped or convinced they can do much right anymore.
Pff whatever. I loved Bioware. I even stuck up for Andromeda, and I still stand by my assertion at the time that the game's real problem was resources spread too thin to try to appeal to too many different types of gamer and maximise sales. With the probability of DA4 likely having some sh*t forced-in MMO / Looter system though, I'm done. I liked their games because I like RPGs - real RPGs that you play at a table - but sometimes life gets in the way of being able to get together with friends to play those, and BW had a good substitute model. If they've acknowledged from Andromeda that indeed they were spreading their resources too thin, but chose to focus on refining the insurgent qualities of their games for easy money through mictrotransactions instead of scrapping them to prioritise solid sales to the loyal fanbase who made them, fine, but I feel thrown under the bus, I'm never trusting a word they say again, backtracking to their old franchises makes no difference because I feel like they'll probably just butcher them anyway, and I'm never playing another of their new products either unless it's been thoroughly reviewed, proven to be worthwhile, and probably on sale for at least 5 years. Frankly f**k em. I wouldn't go back to a cheating ex, I'm sure as hell not going back to a lying games company.
Before we start talking about a new Mass Effect let's see that trilogy remaster, huh Bioware?
@grahamd I really enjoyed Andromeda as well. The crew was fine in my opinion. Maybe even its best point alongside the improved combat. If a sequel would be the same but loses the unneccesary open world filler and improves the graphics and animations Im perfectly happy
@grahamd egotistical and true.
How can you like Andromeda? It's a mess.
The story arc was interesting
Hahaha - no it wasn't, after the first 5 minutes it was an absolute load of rubbish.
the crew relatable
I don't think so, not as much as the original trilogy.
combat significantly improved
OK I will give you this, if you are big fps fan. I actually preferred the RPG lite way of fighting in the original trilogy but that is a personal preference.
I don't actually like this comment though;
`were it not for anti-EA posers we would've seen a continuation of the plot.`
If you can't see what's wrong with the game and are willing to not only play but also encourage crap like Andromeda to release we will inevitably get what you want which is open world shooter guff. As that's what it is. There are way better shooters and way better open world games than Andromeda, but there are hardly any better Western RPGs than Mass Effect 1-3 (1 and 2 in particular). I pre ordered Andromeda and it was a complete cluster and Im not even talking about the glitches I'm referring to the suspension of belief, it couldn't suck a lollipop in. If you like it that's great I enjoy crap games too, but let's not pretend it's some master piece worthy of a trilogy it was and always will be a joke of a game.
