We're getting dangerously close to Christmas now, so you should really start thinking about gift ideas for your friends and loved ones. Alternatively, you could just sit at home this weekend playing video games. That's what we'll be doing.

An Amazon mix-up means that I'm still without a television, so I've turned to PlayStation Now to get my gaming fix. I'm currently playing Vampyr and, surprisingly, I'm having a very enjoyable time streaming the title. I'm impressed.

It's a busy time here at Push Square Towers, but the indie games never stop coming. This weekend, I'll be working on two Mini Reviews as I play Lost Ember and Tools Up. The former is an explorative adventure game about a shape-shifting wolf, while the latter turns DIY into a madcap multiplayer title. Games are nothing if not diverse.

I plan on giving Devil May Cry 5 a solid shot this weekend. I played a few of its missions when the game launched but never really went back after being swamped with other games at the time. On the other end of the spectrum, I plan on wrapping up Life Is Strange 2 with its last episode finally out.

On a whim, I picked up a copy of Shadow Warrior, so now I'm slashing my way through that. Probably not the best idea to add to my already too large backlog, but ah well. Definitely having no interest in returning to Death Stranding has freed up a decent amount of space, and besides, I haven't even started The Outer Worlds yet.

I think it's time for Ryo to head back to the Martial Hall in Shenmue III to reach the top of the kung fu ranks. Admittedly, young Ryo has been whooped so far, and when I left Gold Tiger I was but the learner. Now, I'll be the 5th Duan master.
That's everything that we're playing, but obviously we want to know what you're up to as well. You know the drill: let us know in the comments section below.

All about The Witcher is for me and maybe some more indie goodness with Neo Cab
I'm about two hours into Persona 5.
I like it so far.
I'm in the final throws of Death Stranding at least I've seen some credits but still appear to be playing. These last few chapters have been absolutely brilliant and I'll be sad to see it done, although I'll return to mop up the trophies from time to time. Once that is finished I'm going to reacquaint myself with Racoon City for a bit before returning to either Star Was or RDR2
I picked up the Assassin's Creed Antiquity two-pack: Origins & Odyssey. I started up both at the same time and have played about an hour into each, I think I'm going to stick with Odyssey, there's just something about it that I enjoy more. I think the island setting just feels more fun to move around in. Origins isn't as vertical or as varied. Also, playing as Kassandra is kick-ass. She moves faster and lighter than Bayuk does. But I'm impressed with both of the games.
I haven't ventured into this series since Black Flag. It's nice to see that they've made the game feel less chore-oriented. Though I'm sure some will disagree with me, still plenty of fetch-quests. But it doesn't feel so grindy to me. It just feels like a part of the story and a part of leveling up my character.
Those are my first impressions, I plan on diving more into that the rest of this afternoon/evening.
The order 1886 and I just can't see why reviews where not that positive about this game. It's not the longest game sure, but that's the only real "flaw" imo.
It's really great so far!
Shame Sony let ready at dawn go.
Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Maybe also some Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Splatoon 2 or Super Mario Maker 2. I think there's a new legacy elusive target in Hitman 2, so I'll check that out as well.
@Deadlyblack enjoy the next 90 or so, fantastic game!
Lately I've been playing Hitman, enjoying the sunshine on Sapienza, Hyper light drifter which I think I'm near the end (great gameplay, music and art style), Anno 1404 on PC (first time playing one of these and I find it really relaxing on the lowest difficulty) and yesterday I started the campaign from Titanfall 2. Looks interesting so far. I don't think I've ever played these many games at the same time.
I’ve been a little AWOL lately, gaming-wise. Too many things have been distracting me. But I think I can get back into my games and pick back up the combination of The Last Guardian and Assassin’s Creed Origins.
@sonicbooming That’s an interesting approach you’ve taken by starting both games at once. Like you, my last foray into the series was Black Flag eons ago. I deliberated about which to play and went with Origins. The game was a little slow to get going but after a couple hours it really gets fun. I can’t wait to try Odyssey, but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Origins.
Pushing on 110 hours into Death Stranding, just going to keep playing until i have the platinum, reached grade 60 in all categories. Have a good one everybody!
I just finished my first playthrough of Fire Emblem: Three Houses earlier in the week. Having about a dozen other big games to get through, you'd think I'd move on, but... nope. Started my second playthrough a few nights ago, and plan on playing more through the weekend. And it usually takes me years to build up the will to replay almost anything long.
I am in the middle of Outer Worlds and really enjoying it. Great game!
For me, Vampyr is the most frustrating game of the gen. It has some great ideas, Good atmosphere and as a “ get to know people” simulator, it is fantastic. The characters are all well done and fascinating.
But.....the navigation in that game is the worst. There needs to be more fast travel in the annoying maze of London, and it would also be nice if your powerful vampire could handle a locked door. Combat is dull, and the game is really poorly paced-the most interesting storyline and boss battle resolve a few hours in. And it is too easy to ever need to feed on anyone, which is supposed to be the main tension in the game.
I enjoyed it, I am glad people are playing it, and I hope Dontnod takes a swing at a sequel. It just seemed like there was a huge gulf between the potential of the game and what it actually was.
Just finished Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order last night (it was outstanding) and contemplating what to play next.
@Th3solution I wanted to give them both a chance, to feel them out a bit. I love both of them and I might jump into the other if I get bored with the one I'm currently inside of, to just change things up.
If the rumors are correct, the next one will be set in a Viking setting and to be honest I'm not sure why. They're not going to be able to replicate the amazing that is God of War, so that seems like a poor decision on their part if those rumors are true.
I'd love to see this series venture into India, during the Mongolian occupation.
@MightyDemon82 Exact reason why I decided to start the game during the winter.
MHW: Iceborne. Farming Guiding Lands materials now cause it's all about the new raid starting next weekend.
Hopefully I will have survived Christmas shopping in the deadly location of Cardiff 😂😂😂. But I'll be continuing my never ending journey with Kass in Odyssey and mopping up left over trophies in Sims 4, before heading back to Metro.
Whooped all 8 Valkyries of GOW in 6 days. Now I'm on Queen Valkyrie. They weren't as stubborn as the bosses in the dungeons of Bloodborne, like the annoying Watch Dog of the Old Lords, Defiled Amygdala or Bloodletting Beast. The Council of the Valkyries is so gorgeous, the game hides beautiful locations right under your nose.
Then it's some more RDR2 and GTAV Story Modes, it's real sad if you are in the micro minority who don't enjoy R* games.I mean they're like the pioneers of open world games and if you can't acknowledge their quality and attention to little details...I feel sorry for you. I mean engines make ticking sounds after turning them off since GTA4. At Franklin's mansion at dawn you hear cars speeding on roads far off - you know that sound bend effect mostly at dawn IRL...what are you saying!
Tomb Raider Definitive Edition!
Considering i bought PSVR this week i should be playing anything on that... However when i turned on PS i found that 'They are billions' now has campaign... Therein lies my answer.
A Plague Tale (just excellent), maybe some My Friend Pedro. Once Plague Tale wraps up either Shenmue 3 or Death Stranding
Got the Death Stranding platinum on Thursday, been trying some games from the backlog, nothing has clicked yet, it's difficult to start a new one after finishing a game you have really enjoyed.
Viva Pinata (Games For Windows) - Just installing it.
3D Brick Breaker Revolution (Windows Phone) - Nearing the end.
Briquid Mini (Windows Phone) - Just starting this weekend as well.
Control and Yoku’s Island Express
Rise of the Tomb Raider, almost finished with this game. Dead or Alive 6, Samurai Shodown.
Finally, finally finished god of war ps4. And not only I got the platinum (I hate kill all ravens trophy), but I 100% all the realm (midgard realm gave me headache, I already 100% all the realm beside midgard last year), completed the goals including the journey, favors, labors (against the wall labor is super annoying), treasure maps, and artifact. Still unsure do I replay the games with new game+ with DS, or playing DS and finishing spider-man dlc (already got spidey platinum last year).
I platinum gow in 84 hours, spidey in about 60 hours, and nier automata in 100+ hours, I remember only rpg that give this kind of long playtime in ps1-ps2 era, man this gen games are really great value for your bucks 😃
Oh, I also bought dmc5 and re2r on psn black friday sales, dmc5 is good, I still like gow battle system better because gow weapon feels heavy/has weight in the weapon movement, while dmc5 weapon feels weightless, but dmc5 battle system is good too. The loading time is killing me though, ps5 can't come soon enough 😃
@sonicbooming That’s a good point about the Viking / Norse setting — although I haven’t played GoW yet I know it will be tough to compare to. Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice is another brilliant game that was set in that time frame, so it’s possible that the setting could get oversaturated.
That’s a great idea about India and the Mongolian Empire, though.
Deus ex mankind Devided.and metal gear 5 the definitive experience.word up son
Got myself a Xbox One S on Black Friday (plz don't kill me xD) and am just shooting myself through the Gears of War series. Thanks Games Pass Ultra
Spider-Man.
Loving it. What a great coup insomniac is for Sony!
In the PSN Xmas sale I bought Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, which I’m enjoying. Still playing Borderlands 3, which I just finished, so am now looking at endgame options until the first DLC drops. Also playing SW Jedi Fallen Order, and some Grid.
@RogerRoger amazing ending mate! Wasn’t expecting it, but hoping they do more with the story in the form of dlc or a second game.
Yakuza zero, on chapter 15 now and while earlier in the game I took long breaks between chapters to indulge in the side content I find myself just wanting story, story, story! Things are getting pretty intense and I love it.
Geralt of Rivia is in both games I'm playing this weekend.
Witcher III & Soul Calibur VI.
He's a nice fit in SC and has a fun playstyle.
Currently using Azwel though... who is delightfully bonkers to put it mildly 😂
After finally getting to a point with AC Odyssey’s story that I’m happy to shelve it for awhile, I started Jedi Fallen Order this morning. Loving it so far, has a few minor flaws but nothing to stop my enjoyment. Eager to see where it goes.
Also on my slim I’ve started Rebel Cops. It seems very hard on the default difficulty setting, I’ve restarted missions a few times it’s gone so badly.
I picked up Days Gone during the Black Friday sale so that’s what I’ll be playing. I’m a few hours in and loving it. I’m not sure what all of the overly harsh negative reviews were about. It’s a great game.
Still wading through Trails of Cold Steel, playing Tales of Berseria and Skyrim as well...
Up to chapter 5 in death stranding, I'm loving my time with it and think a fair bit about when I dont get the chance to play. I can see why folks knock it but I like it. Also more undertale, I love the humour and a great light relief game
@get2sammyb If you don't have a TV how are you playing PSNow?
Anyway more World of Warcarft Classic for me sprinkled in with a bit of Modern Warfare.
Going for a hardcore mode S+ rank in the superb Resident Evil 2 Remake. Gonna playthrough as Claire "Are you kidding me?" Redfield.
Also my staple daily plays of Red Dead Online.
Need a break from Borderlands. Started Middle Earth Shadow of War. Really liking it so far.
Finishing up on Spider-Man and giving my new PSVR a go 😊 Happy gaming everyone!
I'll be playing a bit more of days gone. I dislike the protagonist, the story is mediocre at best but the loop gameplay keeps me going. I'm only 6 hours in.
Also some PES2020 and Witcher on the switch.
@Tasuki On my laptop. 🤣
@get2sammyb Oh I didn't know it was available on the PC. I might have to look into that then.
Finished Catherine: Full Body, giving Judgement a few hours to see if it sticks. . Had a little look at Death Stranding but not feeling it. Probably wait for the Xmas break for that one.
Finished death stranding so a palette cleanser next either ancestors or firefighter fd18 for ps2 or some more peace walker on PSP ( such a great game )
@sonicbooming Doesn't feel grindy yet? Keep playing, lol. You'll notice a barrier or two in keeping your gear updated every five levels.
Still playing AC Odyssey but started Rise of the Tomb Raider earlier this week and will be spending a few hours with that game as well.
Both games will keep me going until the New Year when I will hopefully have some new games to play having asked for a few for Christmas!
@PunkRx_Lockly You're probably right, but thus far it hasn't "felt" that way to me and I'm just enjoying strolling around the island. It's a beautiful world to step inside of and that's a big draw for me. The rest is just mashing buttons.
@jdv95 couldn't agree more . The Platnium is super easy to get if your a trophy hunter.
Every day I come to PushSquare to check the Shenmue III review and every day I'm disappointed. Come on @get2sammyb - you must nearly be done!
@VonPit I'm sorry. The problem is I've moved house (I knew the timing was going to be bad). I ordered a new TV from Amazon which was due to arrive on Wednesday, but it got lost. So I'm currently not due to get a replacement until Tuesday.
Then I need to finish the game! It's going to be a little while yet, unfortunately.
Being a baller on a budget I have stuck it out with Modern Warfare(PS4) and Halo: Reach (PC)
