The ever-busy Platinum Games always seems to be spinning lots of plates. Right now it's working on Babylon's Fall as well as the Switch exclusive Bayonetta 3, and it's also releasing remasters of both the original Bayonetta and Vanquish next month.
It's partnering with various publishers for all these titles, but it seems the developer is looking to expand into self-publishing. In an update on the studio's official website, it's announced a partnership with Tencent. The Chinese mega-corporation has made a financial investment in Platinum Games, and CEO Kenichi Sato says it will use this capital "to strengthen our foundation as a business and expand from game development into exploring self-publishing".
The Platinum boss is also keen to stress this partnership will have "no effect on the independence of our company" and that the studio will operate as normal. You can read the short press release for yourself through here.

This’ll go down well. Personally, if it means more Platinum games then I’m all for that. Despite Tencent being dodgy to say the least.
So no more games or statements China doesnt like. Will they stoop as low as Blizzard and the NBA.
Oof. Well, either way, if it won't ruin their games, then I don't mind. Still, seeing how Tencent is, is best we should keep our expectations down. Also, for some reason, I'm expecting Tencent to make a mobile knockoff of one of Platnium's games.
This was the big news? I don't trust Tencent as a company...
Tencent is buying up everything.
@Octane They wanted to buy me too, but I went with THQ Nordic instead.
Dealing with the devil.
Looks like the Bayonetta/Vanquish collection will be the last purchase I make from Platinum. Of all companies out there, they seek a deal with freaking Tencent... Bad enough Nintendo is working with this company, now one of my favorite third parties as well. It's pretty sickening.
If they keep making quality games, then I'll keep buying them.
