Alongside Ashen, the Capybara Games developed title Below has been one of those indie experiences tied up in an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. Much like the A44-lead game, however, Below has now been announced for PlayStation 4 after a year of availability on PC and Xbox One. It arrives on the Sony platform this Spring with an all-new Explore mode.
Unlike Ashen, this title is a bit of a weird one. It's a strange take on the survival genre where you must explore an extravagant mountain, filled with mystery and enemies. From the top-down perspective, it received a very mixed reception upon its release. The game has always sustained a mysterious aura since then, however. A new Explore mode will relieve a lot of that tension though as it strips away some of its survival mechanics, one-hit kills are no more, and bonfires now become permanent checkpoints. It sounds like a much more accessible way of playing the game, although that original experience is still playable in its entirety in the PS4 version.
Kris Piotrowsk of Capy said that Explore mode is for those who were turned off by the original challenge of Below. "It was clear that many players were intrigued by the game's haunting underworld and rich atmosphere, but its difficulty made the game inaccessible to some. We hope to see new players to get into BELOW, and for seasoned players to revisit The Isle and enjoy the game in a whole new way."

This looks interesting! I've never heard of it.
Too bad it's not on Switch as well, since that's where indies are most successful.
gasp I am flabbergasted...
This has always looked very cool. Glad it's coming to PS4
Great for PS4 players. I’ve played it on PC and it’s really quite a good game.
Maybe it's just me--YT is saying the video is private so I can't watch it. Weird!
Hmm, sounds interesting. I haven’t heard of it before and the videos doesn’t work, but I’m intrigued. This would be a perfect Plus game.
@glassmusic Yeah, just noticed. I'm not sure why though, sorry!
@LiamCroft Here's a link to one of their trailers: https://youtu.be/UsBpnnq7Ep4
Doesn't reveal much but it looks very atmospheric! I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one.
I'm more interested in ori and cuphead, although I already have them both on switch.
@sketchturner Imdies sell much better on PS4. It has a bigger install base.
@nessisonett I really liked how it looked when i saw it on a Xbox trailer cant wait to try it.
@Neolit Getting the game later is a way to get the complete game at a reduced price.
@GodGamer PS4 has a larger user base, but indies sell WAY better on Switch. It's not even close. I've seen a ton of developers say that their Switch sales surpass their PS4, XBone, and PC sales combined.
@sketchturner Sony could have used Vita as their indie plataform but it seems that they can't handle two things at once.
