There are only two franchises we want out of Ubisoft right now: Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia. The former’s looking unlikely right now, while the latter’s making a comeback – as a virtual reality Escape Room experience. To be fair, Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time sounds neat: you’ll work co-operatively in teams of up to four in a room-scale VR adventure, solving puzzles and manipulating time.
The game will be playable in 300 locations around the globe, and due to the way it’s designed, is probably unlikely to ever make its way to PlayStation VR. Of course, if you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know this isn’t the publisher’s first foray into VR Escape Room experiences, as it’s already released two based on the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The concept must be proving popular for the publisher – but hopefully it invigorates interest in a true Prince of Persia successor on consoles.

I watched the film again yesterday. It’s not terrible but it kinda is at the same time. Such a good series, it’s a shame it’s mostly dead.
This almost feels like I'm reading about a Prince of Persia pachinko machine, which would indicate the same thing; the unfortunate death of a franchise.
Prince of persia the sand of time is so good, I hope ubisoft remaster it for ps4 or ps5.
I miss Prince of Persia. They should take inspiration on Sands of Time (the game, not the awful movie) and release something new for PlayStation 5.
Hey, maybe they're thinking about a new game. Let's give them some hope here. I don't think it sounds like an awful idea, just not what we need. Honestly, I could go for either another Sands of Time game or a sequel to the reboot. I still need to finish the reboot, but the writing for the characters and the art style were both fantastic.
I'm a big fan of The Sands of Time. More Prince of Persia please.😎

Well, personally I’d like to see new games in the Rayman and Child of Light franchises.
I feel a reboot is coming. I hope 😀
@wiiware
No remaster. Remake of the original Brøderbund game 😛
In PS2 era I prefer 2 and 3 (forgot the exact titles even though I still have them on my shelf at home. Two thrones and warrior within?)
I haven't forgotten the Prince of Peria 2008 game, which was dreadful.
@Nightcrawler71 Totally in agreement with you there. Rayman I enjoy as one of the very few couch co-ops available. And Child of Light really was a beautiful little game.
What happens if you don't manage to escape in time? Are you stuck in a VR world forever?
@verynaughtyboy I played it once, although I did finish it. It's been a while, but I think the combat was the thing that kept me going as well. The platforming bits and the 'edgy' persona of the prince himself were what put me off I think.
@Nightcrawler71 yeah and beyond good and evil 2...
Yeah that headline really toyed with my feelings. Just like Ubisoft. Honestly I wish they'd ever made a sequel to the 2008 reboot. I thought that game was rather enjoyable. Too bad it became all Assassin's Creed all the time.
@JJ2 The second one is better though, that game is so surreal and mysterious, running from the palace, stranded on the beach, to others place and going back to defeat the false princess 😃
And colours, so many colours in the sequel lol.
@wiiware
When I first played it was on pc I was amazed by the animation which was great at the time. The way your character runs and jumps... I wish for a more grounded remake with one on one combats (not hack n slash) and puzzles
A GOW 2018 sort of thing.
@JJ2 Man it will be cool if ubisoft make prince of persia games again, make the combat "heavy" like gow and keep the platforming like in sand of times.
