The incoming PlayStation 5 deep dive video -- which premieres on YouTube in just under two hours at the time of writing -- may be longer than we first thought. If you embed the video onto a site other than YouTube and hit play, you're greeted with a very brief look at the video's length before it snaps back to the premiere screen.
And this is where it gets juicy. Using this method, we can confirm that the video shows a length of 52 minutes and 45 seconds. If accurate, this is going to be one heck of a meaty presentation.
It's worth noting that this video is based on what was originally going to be Sony's GDC 2020 talk. It'll be presented by PS5 system architect Mark Cerny (who also spearheaded the PS4) as he breaks down the next-gen console's technical specifications and key features. If it really does run for around an hour, we're going to be getting a lot of information.
If you're wondering what to expect, be sure to give our What PS5 Information to Expect from Sony's Deep Dive article a read. We go over all of the stuff that could feasibly be shown.
And if you want to know exactly when this PS5 video goes live, make sure to give our full guide a look.

52 minutes of Mark Cerny
@ShogunRok Will it be available here? I'm seeing it available on other sites.
Nevermind, @get2sammyb said it will be.
@lacerz Yeah, we'll have the video here on the site very soon, complete with a live chat.
Do we have a contingency plan for if the PS5 has less teraflops than the Xbox Series X? Presumably we're shutting the site down, burning our PlayStation games, and starting up an Xbox site?
@johncalmc Yeah we're all moving over to Pure Xbox where we'll waste our lives away being as bitter as humanly possible.
@johncalmc The contingency plan is for everyone to grow up, buy the console they want, and pipe down about teraflops and diddlywips and hootytoots, for goodness sake.
@Quintumply @johncalmc Notice the distinct difference in attitude here.
@Quintumply @ShogunRok I do prefer the bitter resentment angle but then I also don't know what a teraflop is so I guess I'm just gonna sit on the fence with this one.
How long was the PS4 Pro reveal and deep dive? You would think it would be a bit longer for a 'new' rather than iterative console with more 'unique' hardware and games...
@Quintumply I like a good diddlywip or a proper hootytoot though!
In all seriousness, I'm quite excited about this. I don't care that much about graphical prowess, but I'm looking forward to hearing things about load times, bc, seeing the design, and whatnot.
Hype hype hyyyyype. I hope they show us what really matters GAMES.
@johncalmc Don't worry John, you can check out the Push Square guide for an explanation: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/03/guide_what_are_teraflops_and_how_many_do_ps4_and_ps5_have
Would be quite refreshing if they spent a fairly short period of time outlining the technical side of things and then went into an epic showcase of upcoming games.
In general, I think PushSquare is the most 'adult' of sites that doesn't have too much 'fanboy' bickering or the pathetic and childish 'top trumps' number games - of course there are still some that want to make it about numbers but the vast majority are generally a lot more grown up and more interested in what their preferred console offers them rather than how that compares to others.
What difference does it make if the PS5 isn't as powerful if you prefer the type of games Sony offers, prefer the symmetrical controller and still get to play the vast majority of games at a much better level than you can with current hardware?
Personally, I intend to get both - like I have since both Sony and MS were available. Before that, I had both an N64 and PS1 too. What people need to understand though is that Tflops are only relevant to the generation and cannot be compared to previous generations. If the PS5 was say 9Tflops, that doesn't mean its only 50% better than an Xbox One X because numerically, that's what the numbers say. You would probably need a 13+Tflop Xbox One X to match the PS5 if it had 9tflops because RDNA2 is so much more efficient than the older Architecture. Even if it doesn't have the same Tflops or CU cores etc, it can still be a massive upgrade over current generations and will still be the only place to play numerous games - unlike MS where all the games will be available on XB1 S/X, PC & xCloud. You will still need a PS5 to play Sony's Exclusives....
I am excited.
What are the chances of hints of new games? Glimpse of Kratos or Aloy?
@LiamCroft no way how did I miss that there was a whole teraflop article... okay now I'm firmly in PS5 must have the most teraflops or riot camp
YouTube title is "The Road to PS5".
Odd that it doesn't seem to be mentioned on the EU PS blog...
Youโre surprised? This is on the shorter end for me. I knew it was gonna be at least this long from the start. I hope itโs evens longer.
@ShogunRok "waste our lives away being as bitter as humanly possible."
I've been preparing my whole life for this moment. ๐
Serious question though - since we already know the length of time, 52 minutes, does that mean this is prerecorded? I know Directs and States of Play always are but I thought this would be Cerny kinda shooting from the hip on a twitch stream. Well whatever they call it when you broadcast live on PS4, "share" or whatever.
It will probably be better recorded but I'm less excited if that's the case.
@BAMozzy
Exactly it doesn't matter if Sex isnt as good as ps5 ๐
I'm not sure size matters either.
My body is ready
@Neolit LMAO - its all about the rumble triggers.... LOL
I do wonder whether it will have the same features as the DS4 - inc the touchpad and light bar as these were under utilised on PS4 a LOT of the time. The speaker added more for me but then I don't have a PS4 camera. The touchpad was more a large button in the majority of games. 6 Axis too is under-utilised but that's remained and these features ought to remain if EVERY PS4 game is BC. Killzone and Infamous used (some of) the features...
I can't see them talking too much about things the DS4 offered - just the 'new' features...
@JJ2 LMAO - as long as people are 'satisfied' with their choice and it gives them immense pleasure, it doesn't matter what others are doing...
