Whether Sony will delay the PlayStation 5 to 2021 or not is a question on many people's lips in the current climate. Will the world have recovered from the Coronavirus epidemic by the time the next-gen console is planned for release or is this a situation that will stretch to next year? We don't have the answer to that, but Sony continues to reiterate that the PS5 release date is still on track for Holiday 2020.
Inside a new Bloomberg report focusing on the hardware manufacturer, it is stated that Sony may have a portion of profit wiped out by the Coronavirus alongside the potential delay of an earnings report scheduled for April. When it comes to the PS5, Bloomberg says: "A Sony spokeswoman said it doesn’t see any notable impact on the launch of its next-generation game console PlayStation 5 planned at the end of this year." If that rings true, then we'll be getting our hands on the console's new high-speed SSD, 3D audio, and PlayStation 4 backwards compatibility in roughly eight months time. If you're wondering how the PS5 compares to Microsoft's Xbox Series X, head on through the link.
This is the second time in the space of a week that the Japanese giant has reiterated the holiday 2020 release window, but as the number of reported cases of Coronavirus continues to spike, we're finding it harder and harder to believe. Do you still think the PS5 will launch this year? Make a prediction in the comments below.

This is the "opinion" of business people though. Of course they're gonna be optimistic and sticking to targets.
I think the truth is nobody really knows but if I had to guess I'd say it's looking more and more unlikely we'll get any new console this year now.
I dont really care either way. But i would like them to do a consumer focussed show soon to tell people what they can expect when it does arrive!
As with previous articles, i do think the last of us and ghost of tsushima will delay any announcements though
A limited launch might be possible by then. It won't be gone (especially in the States, lol), but I imagine it'll have peaked long before then.
Of course, so much changes from day to day right now that thinking in terms of months seems pointless. Who knows what the world will look like by Holiday 2020?
Microsoft said they are on track so...
@LiamCroft why don't you fix that unofficial PS5 Logo in post picture? not only in this post but it has been on lots of other posts such as Guide Posts...
@parvaz1 Would you rather we use the exact same black PS5 image with white text for every single article?
@LiamCroft of course NOT, but you have some designers for your site? or even someone of you could work with PhotoShop? i don't think thats so difficult to change...
Personally I think it should all be next year the way the world is right now with this virus, deaths and there's a possible chance or another recession. Will both companies want to risk it because Sony will be losing on each console and if all what's happening goes on longer then sorry to be even more negative no one would fork out for what the console price I think which will be £500. Who's gonna have that then games at this moment in time no one know of there going to keep there jobs at the rate
they can set their launch window to what ever. as long there is no proper support for bc i can wait for a ps5pro.
I'm thinking:
A new open world Power Rangers game based on 3 seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Sonic 30th anniversary game.
The Simpsons Hit and Run remastered game.
Rayman M remastered game with Dark Globox and Globette.
The Sims 5.
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 remakes.
A new South Park game.
A new Family Guy game.
Mortal Kombat 9 remastered.
Rayman 1-3 remastered.
@zazzy Cool man. You have your hobbies and I have mine. I'm not sure what you expect from a PlayStation news cite.
MS has already confirmed a November release date for the Xbox. Sony has no choice but to release it.
China has almost totally got over COVID 19, so Sony is right the PS5 will likely release this year.
Coronavirus has very negative effect on three areas of the economy travel, leisure and retail.
It has a moderate impact on construction, renovation, maintenance and education.
It has a relatively low impact on office-based work, manufacturing, distribution and agriculture.
From what we’ve seen so far the chances that coronavirus will prevent the manufacturing or distribution of the PS5 is minimal. Of course you’re probably have to order it online because the shops that sell it might be shut.
@zazzy Well then why are you here?
@Jaz007 exactly.
@Ken_Kaniff pretty much. Even if supplies are lower I think they launch.
