MLB The Show 20 may be the only baseball game currently in your crosshairs, but Metalhead hopes you’ll swing for something different instead. Super Mega Baseball 3, the third entry in the studio’s uber-polished arcade sports series, will launch on PlayStation 4 next month – and it’ll feature full cross-console play with Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC out of the bullpen.
In addition to vast improvements to the gameplay loop, the developer’s also pitching a brand-new Franchise mode, which could prove a serious time sink if you enjoy sports game campaigns. “In addition, the game offers a revamped user interface plus tons of new audio, team/character content, and stadiums with variable lighting conditions,” the press release reads.
Interestingly, the developer’s planning to release a free demo which will serve up a chunk of the competitive online suite, “promoting short matchmaking times and an active online userbase”. There’s a trailer embedded above, and it does look good. Between this and Sony San Diego’s simulation, baseball fans are feasting on PS4 right now.

I like the idea of this, and MLB The Show, but in reality I really don't get or understand baseball at all and I give up within about ten minutes usually.
@tomassi You can easily learn the rules on YouTube. It's a much easier sport to understand than, say, NFL.
@tomassi you can pick up the first title very cheap now.. Well worth getting into.. The second one was a vast improvement too...
Rules and game mechanics become second nature after short while so do give it a go, if can... Highly recommended, especially if want a quicker, arcade experience.
Who the hell would buy this?!? Hard pass!
@Mafia_Man19 People with good taste in games.
@Mafia_Man19 They're good games?
