It won’t come as much of a surprise but it’s worth pointing out on Days Gone’s anniversary: Sony Bend is recruiting heavily for a AAA project, presumably for the PlayStation 5. Its job listings aren’t especially forthcoming, but a post for a Rigging Technical Artist position mentions “cinematic-quality facial articulation” while a Senior Audio Programmer will contribute to the creation of “3D audio”.
Obviously, 3D audio is one of the PS5’s major selling points, although it’s worth remembering that the studio already has experience in this space as it supported the feature in its biker-themed PlayStation 4 open worlder. We’ll probably have to wait a few years to find out exactly what it’s working on, but a Days Gone sequel seems like a safe assumption at this stage.

With the cliffhanger Days Gone had I can't wait for Days Gone 2, but I really hope they replace the Unreal engine with Decima engine for the PS5 release.
@Zeke68 Yeah the 100% ending was really good. Don't know about switching engines though, they probably got a good handling of Unreal now and it's a good engine. But I suppose if they could learn Decima quick enough it does seem to produce outstanding results.
Good to hear. I've just started playing this again. There are still a few hordes roaming around that I want to take care of. Time to stock up on explosives and hide in a bush.
Days gone 2 coming though few yrs after
@Zeke68 sony bend switchIng engines probably would added a lot more extra development time to their next game. Sony bend would probably have to customize the decima engine a lot just to get something like the horde working with that engine.
I hope bend update days gone 1 for ps5 first before making the sequels, I want 60 fps & 4k for days gone ps5 version
The only I'm not too excited about it all the sequels; HZD2, Days Gone 2, Spiderman 2, GOW2, Uncharted 5(?), etc. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for GOW2 for example, but the one thing that made the PS4 so exciting was all the new projects, right up to the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima. And most developers are only able to release one or two games for a console.
@anon_pel222
Yes I worded that badly I meant when they release their game on the PS5, not that it would be a launch game.
Been itching to get back into this game... there's still a few hordes i wanna take care of.
Days Gone may be my next purchase in this long self isolation period. I've heard nowt but good things about it and some of the photo mode pics in the forums have been great.
I still need to get days gone but wanted to wait for a sale. This game has stuck hard to nearish full price
Days Gone 2 & a new Syphon Filter ? 🙂
Not gonna be the same with the voice actor dead.
hope day's gone was a one-off. time for gabe logan to make a return!
@Ken_Kaniff
That wasn't the english voiceactor, it was the Portuguese one. So the original voice will be the same in the sequel.
are people really gonna be excited for days gone 2?....
@Amppari yeah it was a good fun game.
@Grimwood why would Sony bend make a new ip when days gone sold well and was received well by gamers.
@ApostateMage do it. Amazing game.
@Grimwood how was it poorly made?
@Boucho11 he probably didn’t even play the game probably just look at the reviews.
Days Gone is one of the most underrated games of the generation and I had more fun playing it than critical darlings like Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn.
It wasn't perfect, but had such potential and was so good to play in comparison to what some critics made it seem to be in their reviews.
The team at Sony Bend is amazing too, I was lucky enough to share long conversations with John Garvin and some of the Environment Designers regarding the game over Twitter and they were all so open, friendly and happy to talk to their fans, it was an experience I won't forget.
Bring on Days Gone 2 baby!
@Jay767 anyone who’s played it knows it’s not a bad game so I’d say you’ve hit the nail on the head mate
@Arugula I lol'd. Good one ;op
I'd really love to see Days Gone 2, Days Gone is 1 of my favorite games.
Syphon filter.gabe logan for president.word up son
I bought it and only played it for a few hours looks amazing, the bike issues are repetitive though.
This game is great but nowhere near Uncharted levels or last of us.
I hope its days gone 2, I wasn't so sure to start with i felt it started slowly but then it got better as so many before me say the same but decent game and deserves another a great story.
I guess a lot of folks found days going to be kind of a divisive game. Personally I loved the game despite some passing issue. I can't wait for a follow-up! Bring it Bend!
@DonJorginho amen bro, so underrated. It was actually my personal game of the year. Just goes to show you not to simply rely on reviews weather or not to buy a game or not.. sometimes gotta go with your gut.
@Octane Relax. Sony is invested to bring new IP's next gen as well. They've been doing that since they've started, though it's been more noticeable during the PS3 era. Sequels are going to happen because a lot of their games are story driven, and are set up for sequels to begin with. Nonetheless, new IP's won't take a backseat.
@Zeke68 after the way Kojima used Decima I am practically salivating at the thought of what that engine will do on PS5. Although I am also curious to see if that superfact ssd can rememdy my one major gripe with Unreal - the texture pop-in/load failure.
But yeah, gimme them new Decima games - I have a feeling HZD2 is going to be eye meltingly beautiful.
@InsertUsername All of their main developers are probably working on a sequel at the moment. Except for Japan Studio, they'll probably have something new
@BearsEatBeets agreed. It would be silly for them to learn a new engine when they have been using Unreal for a while now. Can't wait for what I'm sure is the sequel. Glad to see they are looking into 3D Audio, as they should being a 1st party developers. I haven't tried it yet but been meaning to give the 3d audio setting they made for the Platinum headset.
@Octane I doubt all their developers are only working on sequels. Lol. Guerilla is likely working on at least two projects. Insomniac has another branch in North Carolina, so they are working on Spider-Man 2 and another project that's not known at the moment. Also keep in mind, that developers tend to juggle two projects at once, despite prioritizing one over the other initially. Either way, sequels aren't a bad thing, and I welcome them if they make sense. You'll certainly see new IP's next gen, and they won't be just a few.
