EGX Rezzed, the UK's London-based indie games exhibition, won't go ahead in 2020. Gamer Network and ReedPOP have announced the cancellation of this year's show, and as expected, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is to blame.
The convention was initially planned to take place in March of this year, but was postponed to early July in reaction to COVID-19. Now, with the situation looking unlikely to change anytime soon, EGX Rezzed 2020 has been cancelled outright.
"After extensive discussions with all the relevant public health, local and national authorities, and with our Rezzed partners, we have taken the decision not to go ahead with this year’s event," reads the statement from the organisers. "We thank everyone who has prepared to deliver what promised to be a fantastic event over the past year, showcasing the best of indie gaming to the incredible Rezzed community."
Meanwhile, the event's big brother, EGX 2020, is still scheduled to take place at ExCeL London this September. Purchased tickets for Rezzed have been automatically upgraded to this event, but you can simply ask for a refund by reaching out to the customer services team. Whether EGX 2020 will follow suit remains to be seen.
EGX Rezzed is planned to return in 2021. Were you hoping to attend this year? Let us know in the comments below.

Cant wait for EGX 2020 taking place at the Currently An Emergency Hospital London this September.
Real shame though to be honest, July was rather ambitious but then again, who knew that back in March? I'm in doubt for EGX in Sept to be honest. I suspect that too will be cancelled which will be the first time I haven't attended in nearly 4 years.
@Haruki_NLI Yeah but hopefully it means there will be somewhere for a lie down as it can be quite exhausting do all that walking...
@Rudy_Manchego Its going to be weird not going to EGX myself for once, but thats more a choice on my job position changing since last time, and September being good ol' seasonal setup.
I imagine that by September the ExCel wont be a hospital, at the same time, even though they are barely being used, these emergency stations aren't going to go away quickly, just in case. Better to have and not need after all.
@Haruki_NLI Absolutely and I think they may well be kept into the summer at the very least.
