Coronavirus is causing all kinds of chaos, and games are just one of the things affected. Sony announced that it’s delaying The Last of Us: Part II and Marvel’s Iron Man VR earlier in the day due to logistical reasons, but it’s left many pondering what will happen to samurai open worlder Ghost of Tsushima.
The Sucker Punch developed PlayStation 4 exclusive was dated last month, with a 26th June launch attached. Perhaps pre-empting any questions about the title, the Japanese giant stressed that “there are no other delays to report, but we’ll keep you updated”. Let’s hope the pandemic will slow down and the game will be able to release as planned.

I hope this keeps its slot. This is so much more exciting than LoU2.
yeah i hope it will be secure.
but be aware that no upcoming game for the rest of the year is 100% safe.
with some luck the virus might slow down during the summer but the risks will still be high economy wise.
with some bad luck FF7 could be the last MAJOR game releasing this year. all other games that have not gone gold yet (cyberpunk,GOT etc) might not make it anymore. (cyberpunk releases in september sure, but no one knows how the world will be yet by than be it about the virus or economy)
@jdv95 Unfortunately, it's true. Today's delays will not be the last.
I almost had a heart attack when I saw that GoT picture.
"...BUT we’ll keep you updated"
Its the 👻 ghost playa.so far so good.thats my most anticipated game this year.word up son
Yeah... gfjjgg Chung ghjvg Gibbs Delhi oufvhj...,......... ok.
Edit: My real comment.
Yeah.............ok.
No game is safe this year. If it gets delayed it gets delayed. There are plenty of other games to play in the meantime.
Man.... 2020 officially sucks now... hope everyone stays safe and all, but by the time this is all over or close to it I’m gonna be caught up on my backlog I’m sure, and be in the mood for something brand new.
Possible reason for a delayed date: "New Corona virus restriction. Any internet traffic related to video games or streaming of any sort is banned, except for Google Stadia because they own half the world and bribed governments out of desperation for their product"
Joke aside, I've been eyeing this game since its first announcement. I'll make sure to clear my schedule when it gets released unless critics unanimously say it sucks, no pun(ch) intended
This is like when Nintendo says they have "no plans" to release a new 3DS then a week later they announce "New 3DS".
Until people start going back to work and school just assume everything is delayed.
They said TLOU2 was safe from delays like a week ago so wait a few weeks and we will get confirmations of a delay to GOT too.
@get2sammyb off topic, but if anyone preordered ff7 digitally, i was able to start downloading it tonight. Its a huge download, i think 86 gb, so if anyone wants to go ahead and get it, it is available, at least in the us
@ellsworth004 Doing the same.
Do you think we'll be able to...play it sooner?
@KrazyK85 I can't see why. They've sent out physical copies early to make sure they get there in time but they've kind of overdone it; my copy was sent out yesterday and it has 24 hour tracked delivery. Sure it might not get here today but I doubt it'll take 8 days. But with digital it'll be business as usual other than letting preloading start sooner due to internet speeds being reduced internationally. Would be cool if it was, though.
@Matroska That it would. Ah, well. Fortunately not much longer anyway.
It's going to be delayed.
"Tenet" will be next.
A whole year on Pause.
Thankfully I have enough of a backlog that I should have enough games to take me into 2021 but I appreciate that may not be the case for everyone.
There are enough games out there though, impossible for anyone to have played everything that's been released. Maybe some people should take a punt on same games that they missed first time round. Try something a bit different, take some risks. There are always plenty of older games on sale after all.
Just release it digitally if you have to, with a physical release to follow when practical. If anything, the devs will make more money because everyone knows buying games digitally is more expensive (new titles that is) and a lot of people won’t want to wait any longer to play this...myself included!
@Matroska i got mine yesterday. Its amazing! Be excited
Seems highly unlikely.
I could maybe see this being used as a test for a digital-only release but even then I think a delay is far more likely given the budget and expectation for this game.
There's lots of interesting questions though. Would they be willing to take a hit to the sales of this game in order to still bring in some revenue at a time like this? I think that's possible.
Lots of moving pieces and unknowns here.
