Can you believe that Final Fantasy VII Remake is actually here? Crazy, isn't it? Now we just have to wait another 15 years for Square Enix to finish the story!
No, but jokes aside, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a great action role-playing game -- as pointed out in our review -- and we can't wait to see how many people absolutely hate it a week from now. Okay, that was the last joke. We promise this time.
Anyway, we want to know if you're buying Final Fantasy VII Remake. Do you have high hopes for the game? Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who managed to snag an early copy? Vote in our polls, and then feed us some juicy thoughts in the comments section below.

Physical prices have been the highest any game I’ve ever seen. Probably due to the coronavirus restricting supply. I think I’ll wait till prices fall a bit.
My preordered copy is supposedly arriving next Tuesday.
Had it preordered since last June, but won't receive my copy until next week.
I finally started my game yesterday!Been waiting years for this remake and the game is absolutely blowing me away right now.
I have to say I'm on Chapter 3 already though so if all chapters are as short as the first two it really I want going to last me long.
I'm not bothered about the game being in separate parts but I'm really interested to see how Part 2 is done...will it finally be open world or will it just be based in another town..or towns rather than having a big expansive world?
@Ryall it's staying at £50 which is a bit unusual, but RDR2 was the same around launch.
Going back to the N64 days, £60 at launch was normal. God knows what that is in today's money.
Not for me this one, I tried the original when it came out but like all the other rpg's I have tried, I just can't get into them. I lack patience and have a very small attention span. It saddens me but it is what it is
About 10 hours in and only just made it to the second reactor. I've loved all the new story additions so far, especially with Jessie, bittersweet as it is.
Ashamed to say I never beat emerald weapon D:
@Barryburton97 I’ve never spent more than £45 on the PS4 game day one and this is the first PS4 game with a physical release that I’ve not bought because of the price at launch.
Got my deluxe edition on Wednesday. Already put 11h in it. Great game.
Went to Target first thing this morning to buy it. I haven't had a chance to play it, yet, though. I just wanted to make sure I secured a copy.
No and no, someone break the game down for me in a nutshell please.
I was lucky enough to get mine on 2 April. Its absolutely brilliant. Probably the most fun ive had with a final fantasy since 10. I've played the original ff7 about 4 times since release all those years ago, and i can honestly say i think Square knocked it out of the park - particularly given the weight of expectation on their shoulders
Gee, I don't know. Did I buy the remake to my all time favorite game? The one I've been waiting five years for? The game I actually bought a calendar for just so I could circle the release date? Did I buy that game?
Nah. I'm still hung up on Nioh 2.
I want it physical and there's a strict quarantine on my country till next week, so... i have to wait, unfortunately.
@Ralizah I had my pre ordered since June last year and it still says it hasn't shipped yet. Trying not to be too irritated as people need more important things. Still sucks though
I never finished it back in the day. I might buy it at some point, but y'know, backlog.
@East76landS Spiky-haired guy meets big gun-wielding bloke. With hilarious results
Not right now... I played the original and finished it. Hard for me to play a game that I know how it ends.
But I'll get it at some point digital just to own it like I did with RE2.
I'll support Sakura Wars that will probably be overlooked this month.
Got mine from shopto, £47, delivered last Friday, 3rd. Chapter 4. Been double busy to play it through quickly.
Played the original beat it 2 different times but did not pre-order or pick up remake yet. Will at some point for sure, probably when I see it on a PSN sale for $30
£30, then we'll talk.
@Ryall
I've seen higher. Shortly after the PS2 launch I'd seen games typically at £49.99-£59.99 until the eventual £39.99 became the norm.
Never played the original or any FF. Loving the remake so far, brilliant game. Actually glad im going in fresh without any insurmountable expectations!
Final Fantasy is not a series that means anything to me but I did enjoy the demo so I might pick this up at a later date, probably after a price cut. It's good to hear that for those that have been waiting for this for years it is receiving warm praise.
Got P5R to play, I was going to wait for all the episodes, but I've been quite hyped by this.
@Bush its so easy to beat Emerald once you figure out its main attack.
Not yet. Despite the lockdown I’m working more than ever right now.
Still have Nioh 2 in shrink wrap. I think I might just hold out for the PS5 version.
God no these things are far too expensive..........No I purchased a Digital version of Horizon Zero Dawn complete for a tenna and when FF7 2020 is a tenna maybe...........my Gripe it is just an episode with many un answered Questions like when is the next episode out. Nobody knows far too many care. The demo was pants.
I had a master file on ps1 and ps3 for the OG. Probably beat the game 10 times in my life. That and Chrono Trigger would usually get an annual replay. Now i have a son and a massive backlog of games as it is. Lol. But tonight at 5 its pizza, IPAs and the REMAKE😁😁
Yes, I'm playing it right now, it's as good as the original ff7. It's already 1 am in here, I can't put the game down lol. Since I don't want to finish the game quickly, I think I'll play only maybe 2 hours max a day 😃
Got my Deluxe Edition 3 days early. Still playing it and loving every minute of it.
@Nyne11Tyme Eating pizza while exploring a rotten pizza sounds like a good combo.
Played the original but never completed it, or any FF game I've played. Liking what I've played so far, just about to go on my first mission with Tifa.
@wiiware first session for me will be 4 or 5. After that the same. If i enjoy it as much as the OG it will have immense replay value- especially with game plus
It’s bloody good.
After P5R, maybe. It's still mostly out of stock anyway.
12 hours in and it is a masterpiece!
@kyleforrester87 too bloody good, can't believe this is from the same team as the 13 trilogy.(I think it is anyways)
I received mine today two disks massive 100gb install. Been waiting what seems like forever for this.
Anyone that hasn’t played the original, genuinely stop playing this immediately and play the original first. There’s just too much meta knowledge expected from somebody who’s played the original game first.
I preordered the digital version and I'm loving it so far!
@darksoul77 Was it a full 100Gigs? The digital version is only 85.6 gig for me.
I haven't had the chance to clear the PS1 version that I still have downloaded on my Vita, so I'd rather eventually play that.
never liked final fantasy games, so have no interest in buying any of them
As I’m in no rush I might just wait for all episodes to be released before taking the plunge. Might get it for PS5 even if it gets ported to that...
I had the 4 disc game in the clamshell packaging for my original PS. That game had sooooo much content, especially for that time in gaming. I actually bought a guide for the game and pored over it to get the best builds and find the optional team members and monsters (looking at you Ultimate Weapon).
It’s also the first game I remember using rumble for the controller. I loved FFVII, and I’m glad they remade it for this generation, but I don’t see myself ever going back to it.
soulstrawisimo ,i started This morning ! finaly decent fantasy game from enix ! ff7 got infused with advent children!
I got the money now but I don't know if I want to buy it rn. Might end up caving in and buying it in a few hours tho
My copy turned up 8 days early, but I just started playing a couple days ago. Had to get through P5R first. I'm liking it so far, but I still don't understand why they felt the need to flesh out Midgar so much, necessitating the game being multiple episodes. None of the extra content I've played so far in my 18 hours has been so brilliant that it just had to be included.
My copy arrived early. I've put in 20 hours so far and loving every minute of it.
My Deluxe edition just showed up from Best Buy can't wait to get started. Was in High School when the original came out and loved it. Still give the edge to 6 for best FF overall though
@GADG3Tx87
Street fighter 2 turbo on Super Nintendo was £59.99 at launch...always remember because only game my dad ever bought me. He bought it second hand for around £15 and it still had price label on the box from Our Price. 🤣 like nearly 20 years ago
My first FF game. I'm enjoying it so far...
Yeah, Deluxe Edition. Never really played too far into the original but in years past have watched all the cutscenes. Also did play through Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII on PSP so I have an idea of the key story elements.
Can’t put it down. It’s GOOD
Played the original, beat it. Will not support anti-consumer practices so I did not purchase part 1 and no gamer will have either, only selfish, entitled pricks who wish to destroy this hobby. Yes, I've said that exact phrasing to friends. Don't support anti-consumer practices, have a backbone.
Played the demo and enjoyed it but I’ve got a backlog so I’m going to wait patiently until I can buy the PS5 Complete Edition.
No, no plan of buying it... I really got bored of Final Fantasy XV and now I have zero interest in the franchise
@GoblinKing86 I am gunna buy another copy every time you comment
I played a couple FF games on PC long ago. I did not care for them much then. Its not a must have for me, but just a second choice on sale only game.
I was never a big fan of FF but I really like how this remake looks. I might get it someday.
Welp I really did cave in and bought it lol. It arrives on monday but I don't know how I'm gonna finish nioh 2 before then
Tried the demo and really liked it! But I tend to wait a few months for PS Store sales
I bought the 1st Class Edition and a digital copy on PSN because I was afraid I wasn't going to get my physical copy on time.
Turns out I got my physical copy on time.
I am very very pleased with FF7R. I havent been able to really get into a game for a good little while, but i have played this non stop since it released. Combat is really done well, im absolutely loving this game. But maybe im biased because the original is one of my favorite games of all time...dont really care though cuz i love it!
@GoblinKing86 how is it anti-consumer?
Going in I was worried I was going to be disappointed just because the weight of the expectations that have been built. I'm happy to say I'm 3 hours in and have loved every second of it so far! It almost feels surreal to actually be playing it. I thought for many years it would never see the light of day.
@Barryburton97
1 pound sterling in 1997 would be worth 1.66 in 2020.
So a £60 game in 1997 would cost around £99 in 2020.
Not for me I know it's probably the most beloved in the series with 10 but I wish the remake was for 4 5 or 6 as they are my favourite FF games would be super cool to have them in a 2.5hd style of realised in 3d
The original FF7 I've completed about 50+ times since it's launch when I started I would try to play a different way. Back then you'd get challenges from school friends who'd play it and see if you could do it.
Like one was to finish the game with original weapons Buster Sword but you could swap out the Armour. Others would be no summons allowed it was great days back then I'm just finishing it on Steam only got to do Sephiroth in northern cave and I'm done.
But I won't be buying this for a bit I really really want to do my triple A back log
God of war
Witcher 3
Horizon ZD
Then I've just bought Days Gone I have a lot of time consuming Role playing games as you can see
I wasn't going to buy it because of it being in pieces. Then I seen the theme with 13 that was it. 13, Vincent, and of course Cloud was my team. So I bought it digitally and will probably pick it up on the cheap physical. I prefer physical unless it's game as service or sports game.
Loving it and 5 hours in! I loved the original and seeing the characters and Midgar remade or fully fleshed out is bliss. And being swept of my feet with the frenzied but exciting combat I won't be going back to ATB again. Love to see remakes of all the ff games up to 10. Ah... To be playing ff 7 remake every year for another 3-7 years? Heck yeah!
I've had it pre-ordered with Amazon since 2016 and have been told next Tuesday.
Yet everyone else I know who pre-ordered from them have received their copies early.
They all only pre-ordered witin the past 2 months and live further away from the distribution centre. So they literally drove past me to get to them.
@lacerz
You mean 3 disc? Or did you get the Japanese International Version?
Nope. Zero interest. Played the original on PS1, but never finished it... it's the game which put me off JRPGs for life, as well as the majority of RPGs in general. The only ones I've enjoyed are Fallout 3 and Horizon.
Loved (and completed) the original back in the day but the demo for Remake did nothing for me. Fortunately....my backlog is finally getting some love.
Not only no but **** no.
My pre-order got pushed back to Tuesday. I have this amazing friend who let me take his copy because I had yesterday off of work and I have very minimal game time, so he wanted me to be able to play it. It’s the most I’ve gamed in a very long time and I’ve loved every second of it so far.
@Enuo I just got to the third boss in Nioh 2 (the snake) really like the game but I find myself getting tired of being killed a million times..how's it going for u?
I have no longer interest with FF VII anymore.
I have FF VII & VIII Twin Pack Nintendo Switch, but i only play FF VIII, ignore FF VII completely.
FF VII R is even more Blah in my opinion.
Both FF VII and FF VII R are banned in my gaming area.
Turning it into an action game took away any interest I could've potentially had in it otherwise.
@Genrou Please watch the language!
@Expa0 Honestly, it's not that much of an action game. It is technically an action RPG, but success in battle still heavily relies on stats and equipment. You simply can't play this like a straight up action game and win.
It's basically still the ATB system but you have free movement and one-button combos.
@eltomo I'm pretty sure knights of the round was a must and I definitely didn't want to grind for one battle at the end of the endgame
Got it early on Monday, haven't played too much and only on chapter 3 but i've loved what i've played so far.
"Yep, I had it pre-ordered"
But I didn't play it yet cuz it's somewhere stuck in delivery along with Resident Evil 3.
@Ralizah @BrotherFilmriss @Deadlyblack Where do guys come from? I wonder which regions are the most affected because of this whole coronavirus situation?
@olkakalinska United States. Tennessee.
Ordered my copy last year.
@olkakalinska
Germany I have to add though that I ordered it on 7th april and they announced it'll arrive on 14th april. Please be aware that we have two days of official easter holidays on friday and monday too.
@Ralizah @BrotherFilmriss
Thank you, guys. Wow, that's crazy! Do you mind me asking if you had any issues like that before @Ralizah? I'm from the UK and it seems like most people got their copies a few days in advance. I thought that if they had dispatched physical copies to Europe and Australia sooner they would deliver them on time everywhere else.
@olkakalinska Nope. I've always received my Amazon packages on time. Even some notoriously difficult-to-procure ones, like the VLR special edition and the all-in-one package for Fire Emblem: Fates. This is the first time this has happened.
Everything non-essential from Amazon is delayed right now, so I'm guessing it's mostly on their end, and not S-E.
It's a bit disappointing, but they're right to prioritize needs over luxury goods in this challenging environment.
@Ralizah ehata joke Asda in the UK have it for 49.99 ten pounds cheaper then ps store. People on ebay Hadid for 114 pounds. Complete extortion. And yet some idiots will buy it due to lock down. Honestly guys go on ebay and bid for games. I picked up nioh 2 for 24 pounds two wks ago. Even pre orderd games u can get for less then 45 pounds if u shop about right. Hope u get it though its a good game. Minds me of res 2 remake without the zombies.
@Paranoimia it's nothing like old school ff games, i was the same couldn't get into all the fantasy stuff but this one is worth a go. Try the demo it's pretty solid.
@Ralizah Yeah, I suppose that's it. I hope you'll get it soon enough! Good luck and thanks for sharing!
I started with final fantasy 10 so I've never been on the 7 bandwagon. I do like final fantasy in general so I will pick it up at some point. Just don't know when.
I detested the demo due to all the drastic changes to gameplay all of which I don’t like, plus it didn’t run that smoothly on my ps4 slim. needless to say I won’t be buying it but for those who liked it, enjoy!
This game is...disappointing. The texture work is sometimes great and sometimes super muddy. The combat gets worse and worse as the game goes on. The friendly AI is abyssmal. Barely any exploration and when there is, there isn't anything to do or find. You're either being forced down a corridor for hours on end fighting the same predetermined enemies in the same predetermined spots or wandering around looking for something to do and end up just hearing the same random NPC dialog over and over. They took HUGE liberties in the story (one particularly is completely unwelcome but no spoilers here) and turned the game completely backwards. I worry about future installments, and am very glad I got this game for only $10. Anyone giving this game a perfect score was either paid or wearing rose colored glasses because although it isn't terrible, it is far from fantastic. Wait for the hype to die down and then listen to some unbiased reviews. This game is subpar, and I will still choose the original over this...reimagining.
It is worth every penny. If there is only one game anyone should buy this year, it would be FF7 remake. Keep supporting SquareEnix so they keep churning out the next parts of the remake. The journey has only just begun.
I received my copy on Friday but started playing Tuesday due to overtime at work. Having lots of fun so far!
