Starved of next-gen news? The latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine in the UK is leading with a PlayStation 5 preview special – and Godfall is the cover star. Available on newsagent stands right now, the blowout promises information on all PS5 games confirmed and rumoured to date, including Watch Dogs Legion and Dying Light 2.
Speaking specifically about how Sony’s new hardware will improve Techland’s undead sequel, lead producer Eugen Harton said that the PS5’s SSD will help improve loading times “but we still have time to explore the ways we want to use the power provided by the new generation”. There’s more in the issue itself, and you can find out where to pick it up through here.

Available on newsagent stands right now, most of which appear to be closed at the moment.
Godfall looks lit . Stoked for it!
@LieutenantFatman
It's available digitally as well. No subscription needed. Single issue sales.
@LieutenantFatman Convenience stores are still open here! 🤣
I get it digitally but still seem to be seeing the last edition for the time being.
@SirRealDeal
I know, just an attempt at humour.
I don't think it's available in my territory, I'll just buy digitally
I think I'll buy it digitally on my ipad if there's a lot of ps5 news.
I don't mean to be rude, but this Godfall is not interesting at all, looks so generic...
I like the premise of God fall from what they've shared so far. Look forward to seeing some gameplay soon!
@RenanKJ lol nothing rude about it. That’s your honest opinion.
So would y’all be sued if you reported on that information 😉
@RenanKJ sadly i have to agree with you, i feel its kinda weird for it to be like, THE STAR ushering in next gen.
If it came out this gen it seems like itd be just some generic B grade game that comes and goes and is pretty quickly forgotten.
Sure, its all shiny with its next gen sheen but unless youre a big fan of hack n slash or souls games this doesn't seem exciting in the least.
I realize there are exceptions and theres people who would argue againt my opinion, but like.. Its just my opinion man
I wonder for how much longer OPM will be available?
I must admit, Godfall doesn't appeal to me from what I have seen and heard about it. It does seem like it 'could' release on current gen hardware but maybe Sony paid to keep it to the PS5 only. It seems that the main difference (other than visual and/or performance - ie 1080/30 PS4 vs 4k/60 PS5) would be that the current gen would have loading times which could be significantly lower or even no loading times on PS5 - but I guess we won't know now as its not coming to PS4 to compare...
Whenever I see Godfall, my brain reads God-awful...
Sorry but it looks dreadful, hope we see better launch titles than this turd
Interesting to see so many write off a game from a few seconds of footage and a brief outline. Sure I have little interest at the moment either but I will wait until I know fully what it is before judging it.
@RenanKJ
Generic is so generic a thing to say though.
Doesn't make any sense to me. No offense intended but that what I think people say when they cant find real reason to bash a game.
I'll wait to see more or even , you know, some gameplay.
@BearsEatBeets
Exactly my thoughts.
Game has my interest so far
@BAMozzy
They (the devs) were actually asked in an interview. Their answer was to praise the ps5 SSD power. Take it as you will.
If Godfall relies on weapons based combat like the clips we've seen it's going to be compared to God Of War which surely won't end well for it.
@JJ2. People will hate everything.some of them are hypocrits.they hate ea.they hate activision.konami.ubisoft.bethesdasquare enix.etc.but when the game is good they all buy it.if you hate all the game company.even a game that looks good.its simple donyt buy.no one is forcing them to buy it.goffall looks good.definetly on my radar.word up son
@billyboyblue666 that’s not exactly true. GoW isn’t the first game to reply on weapons based combat. From what I’ve seen I can draw no direct similarities to GoW.
@BearsEatBeets I think it boils down to what you like as a gamer. For instance, if I see a game is first-person or turn-based I’m almost automatically put off by it. But third-person hack n slash has all my interest. Although, I don’t call the genres I don’t like “bad games”. They just don’t interest me.
Not interested in Godfall (reminds me one or two of free to play games) ... Hopefully there will be more choice.
How crazy is it that this will most likely be the big ps5 launch game.
@billyboyblue666 Couldn’t that be said of basically any game that uses weapons ever? It’s not really that similar to GoW. Mon the hoops 😉
I need someone to answer this to me.
This game might (and most likely will) suck, since it's a launch game and from a pretty unknown team at that.
But, which part of it looks generic? The armor design looks quite amazing, can't remember of a game that looked similar to this.
@RenanKJ Agreed. It's hard to imagine a more uninteresting title to show off.
As of now, the PS5 doesn't exist for me. Show me the system or no hype exists.
@BearsEatBeets @JJ2 Yeah I agree, so little has been seen of the game not sure how anyone could decide that it is not for them or not. Haters are gonna hate.
@RenanKJ I feel the same, not interested in it at all.
Mine just arrived through my letterbox. Always loved this mag.
@JoeBlogs I know - its the same virtually every console generation. It gets to a point when porting down isn't worth the sales too and only the big sellers like Fifa and CoD will try and even then, as we saw with BO2 and Fifa, some compromises have to be made - like no campaigns. That was mostly due to RAM restrictions as well but as the switch proves, some games could still be ported if you don't mind having to scale back resolution and/or frame rates enough.
The power needed to get to 4k and 60fps is what the GPU and CPU of next Gen hardware will be for but if you cut both the frame rate and resolution right back, reduce visual settings - draw distances, LoDs etc and lose some features - like Ray Tracing, quick/instant loading, I wouldn't be surprised if a LOT of games could run on PS4/XB1 - BUT whether its worth all the extra work to 'optimise' for those consoles and whether or not the scaling down would be in the devs best interest is a different matter. Would they want to release a game that may not hold a perfect 30fps at even 720p without decent (medium/high) graphical settings and maybe even simplified/lower quality assets. By that I mean reducing the polygon counts and using lower quality textures to reduce the RAM demands as well as reducing the CPU and GPU load by the other scaling. Dropping the resolution also reduces the VRAM demands too.
Its possible but again its balancing the potential sales those games could reach against the amount of work it would take to port and scale down to get running. 3 to 4yrs on, the amount of people still using older consoles and more importantly, buying 'new' games will be significant lower. If people are still gaming on those, the Devs will only bother if they think the sales will be more than enough to cover the costs of the work needed.
I am sure certain games will be more difficult to port just because of the way they are designed but no-one would have thought the Witcher 3 could have been ported to Switch. Games like Wolfenstein were aided by capping the frame rate to 30fps - thus given the hardware double the time to process and render each frame. It does have more RAM than PS3/360 but its not much more powerful - although being newer, it is more efficient. Anyway, point is, it could still be possible to port down but may not be worth the effort due to lack of sales. We will never know of course because if they don't 'try', we won't see what sacrifices were needed.
.. genuine question.. if we buy the PS4 version of these games (WD2, DL2, LOU2, etc.) I assume they'll be patched to be 'better with PS5' (there's not going to be a PS5 AND PS4 version?!?) I'm thinking of stocking up before the release on games so it's not one massive hit at the end of the year...
Mostly looking forward to next-gen Monster Hunter and Kingdom Hearts. I'm also trying to play through FFXV for posterity's sake because I'm such a huge fan of the music, but the cumbersome loading screens around every corner make it extremely difficult to stick with; I almost feel like waiting to see if FFXV will be backwards-compatible just for the hope of improved load times.
@RenanKJ I agree, it looks current gen
@Jomac3db
Yeah i am underwhelmed as well. It looks like something that could run on a PS4 Pro.
@OneManDroid
I did in december i bought my first console (PS4 Pro) with VR and 100 games on it now with those holiday deals everywhere. i should be good for now :3
