We don’t know what the weather’s like in your part of the world, but it’s beautiful here in Britain. It’s typical, then, that after over six months of wind and rain, none of us can go outside. Still, it’s great news for that backlog of yours. Here’s what we’re playing.
Sammy Barker, Editor
When was the last time I was playing a new release? No, it’s not Final Fantasy VII Remake for me, but Control. I’m finding the level design a little convoluted at times, but this is a fascinating release with an amazing atmosphere. It’s certainly scratching my inFAMOUS itch.
Robert Ramsey, Deputy Editor
I'm on my second full run of Final Fantasy VII Remake and I think I'm actually enjoying it more this time around, now that I know what to expect. My PS4 friends list is already packed with people playing it, and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks.
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
I don't seem to be able to stop finding indie games to review. My Friend Pedro is next on the agenda, so I'll be filling my Easter weekend with acrobatic shootouts and hovering bananas -- just like the Bible teaches. Hope you all have a nice break!
Liam Croft, Senior Staff Writer
I’m going to be playing a lot of Final Fantasy VII Remake this weekend. I have no nostalgia whatsoever for the original PSone game but I am already loving what I’ve played so far.
Lots of Final Fantasy from our core editorial team, then, and we suspect more of the same from you in the comments section below.

Playing final fantasy 7 remaster on ps4. It's sort of surreal. This is how I imagined ff7 graphics when I play the game decades ago, squareenix captures the game atmosphere perfectly. Also aerith and tifa is really beautiful in this remake, japanese company really outdo themselves making great hd era "realistic" characters design from blocky psone games (like ff7 and re2)
On pc I'm playing cris tales demo, a rpg inspired from chrono trigger and others classic rpg. And holy heck this game is beautiful, the game 2D graphics is sort of insane. This is the best 2D games graphics that I ever saw in games, it's not pixel art but it's not like flash games either, every scenes in the game can be used for pc wallpaper I think. The gameplay and story is good too, I think everybody that like 16 bit rpg should try the demo on steam.
Working my way through A Plague Tale at the moment. On chapter 12 and it’s been good so far. If I finish it I will get started on Resident Evil 3.
Spending my gaming time with plagues and infections, how apt. Stay safe and happy gaming everyone.
well FF7 ofcourse!
only at the start of chapter 3 but i already see why the game gets such praise. a wonderfull start with the FF franchise for me i must say.
PS4 I’m getting quite addicted to Red Dead online, which I only got into a month or so ago. Love switching between the different roles. Just wish Rockstar would sort out some of the well known bugs like disappearing camps and infinite loading screens 😡 Also playing Doom Eternal and DiRT Rally 2.0
Xbox 1 Dead cells, and have just started Mutant Year Zero (both on Game pass)
Switch Animal Crossing New Horizons. The Easter event comes to a head tomorrow, so should be an exciting day on the island!
Well I am being odd by going all last gen and playing Mirrors Edge on PS3 and Tomb Raider Anniversary on XB1 backwards compatibility!
Will be playing a mix of AC Odyssey, Persona 5 and Battlefront 2 to scratch my MP itch.
Happy gaming and Easter everyone and stay safe!

Finishing up Control which is deffo like the good ol program called Warehouse 13, going for the trophies. Also aiming to start Persona 5 sometime this week and perhaps Uncharted lost legacy, stay safe everyone. 😊
Mhw Iceborne
What else?
I'll be playing some Persona 1 and Mega Man 8. Also going to start something else that's more modern, but not sure what yet.
Lots of Animal Crossing, man this game is a lot of fun - fishing tournament today which suits me because I love catching fish in this game.
And FF7 Remake of course, 11 hours in - it’s wonderful, I think I’m in love with Jessie, they’ve knocked it out of the park with her character.
Anyone here who didn’t play the original, and what do you think of this game? From my perspective it seems like you almost had to have played the first one to fully appreciate all the differences, but it’s hard for me to get my head round what it must be like for someone who’s completely new to FF7.
Bit of Divinity 2, RDO and God of War.
Shame that Rockstar doesn't seem to be too interested in improving and fixing RDO in last few months, the PVP is pretty much dead nowdays, and with autoaiming being the core gameplay mechanic, i can see why.
The weird and wonderful, Control. Seriously, this game is quite impressive, definitely the best game that I've played this year so far. I love the fact that it's set in the same universe/dimension as Alan Wake, too.
More Persona 5 Royal and Animal Crossing. Was hoping FF7 was going to be delivered by my birthday on Monday but not looking likely now, never mind.
A combination of Tearaway Unfolded and Team Sonic Racing! Love the online multiplayer! 😃
@kyleforrester87 having never played a FF game before i can say that i enjoy FF 7 remake as much as you do
sure i don't have the nostalgia factor but for me that is not a con at all.
if anything it's a wonderfull introduction to the franchise for newcomers like me.
Creeping towards MK11 & PvZ Battle for Neighborville plats so I'll be working on them and some Jedi Fallen Order which I picked up on the current sale
I wish I could say I was playing FF7R.
@jdv95 reckon you might play the original after?
Robert, since you're playing the game a second time...can't you continue playing after the main story? Like doing sidequests, getting the plat trophy?
@kyleforrester87 tbh not realy.
i think it would be to much of a "downgrade".
but that does not mean i'm not interested in older FF games.FF 12 always had my interest so i think i'll play that at some point.
Bought the fmv bundle today, have done one playthough of the complex, it was good, think there's 8 endings, so I'll be checking them out. Plus, I will be continuing with Diablo 3, currently on a campaign with a necromancer.
I'm just downloading the Final Fantasy remake so I guess I'll play that 😁
I'm almost at the end of my first playthrough in Detroit. Great game. After that I'll return to Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Only got the underwater areas to get the plat and then the Atlantis dlc so I'm looking forward to finishing it.
And Animal Crossing too. That game is great in short daily bursts.
I’m on vacation starting now. My work is essential and if I can avoided as much contact with people during this crazy times the better. It was always going to be a staycation from the get go. I plan on getting a lot of games. Samurai Shodown, Street Fighter V, Control, Soul Calibur 6, Tekken 7, and Judgement. And maybe, just maybe... start playing Red Dead 2.
The PSP remake of Persona 1 @crimsontadpoles or the PS1 version?
I can only imagine that it's quite the different experience compared to Persona 5 (Not to mention 3 & 4)... Persona 1 has first person dungeon crawling like the first two mainline SMT games doesn't it?
As for me I'll be playing the same as last week. I'm on Opus/Chapter 7 of Shining Resonance Refrain and nearing the end of the game.
My run as the Amazon in Dragon's Crown Pro is also coming to a conclusion and I'll maybe make some more progress in Iconoclasts as well.
Stay safe everyone and have fun gaming!
Going for the platinum In Ratchet and Clank and starting FFVII Remake later on!
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy PSP remake of Persona 1, playing on PS Vita. It does have first person dungeon crawling. I'm not very far into it yet, but so far it does seem to be a weird and wonderful bizarre mix of classic SMT and later Persona games.
Watching Hi-Score Girl
Playing FF VII, RE3, Nioh II. I might give Shadowgate a go.
As I've just bagged a Ps Now subscription for forty quid, I'm delving into Control, which has the usual bollocks narrative, but the gameplay is excellent!
Bloodborne and Re3.
The Last of us remastered.
Since I don't have my copy of FF7 Remake, I'll probably either finish Control, play Boneworks or start Persona 5 Royal even though I just finished Persona 5 last month I'm getting that itch man.
DOOM Eternal - til I've had enough of dying
RE3 - thinking about chasing the plat now I've got the infinite rocket launcher
Control (via PSNow free trial) - way more enjoyable that I thought it would be
FF7R - barely scratched the surface off it
It’ll be some more Dishonoured 2 and Ni No Kuni 2 for me with FM20 on the Switch to fix my football needs. I’m kinda struggling in Dishonoured actually, getting found by the guards regular and end up butchering my way through levels despite my best efforts. Need to be a lot more careful methinks!
Dark Souls Remastered & Pokémon Emerald
Playing some Animal Crossing and wrapping up Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
So this weekend I'll be prancing around by the rivers dressed up to look like a very dainty Easter Egg,which I made myself out of..Easter eggs, don't ask me how I did it or how they don't melt cuz I have no idea..magic I guess.I'll also be waving a dainty little star wand about which I won from a fishing Tourney.
When I'm not prancing about enjoying the thrill of Easter I'll also be waving a gigantic sword bigger than my body about killing everything that moves and complaining everything sucks and how I just want my money.
Nioh 2, but I might rage quit today, but I am only on the third boss(the snake). I love the game though and want to keep going although I don't know if I have the patience tidied 800 times. I know...git gud. Sometimes I just want to relax and enjoy a good story. Might start star wars.
I meant patience to die 800 times
Yoshi's Woolly World (Wii U) - Starting the second world this weekend.
Fallout 3 (Games For Windows) - Really taking my time with this one.
Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles HD (Windows Phone) - Still stuck in the sewers, going to take a decent crack at it this weekend.
Resident Evil 3!
I have been having a blast with the game and just beat it on standard difficulty. I will attempted a hard core run tonight. As others have have stated it a tad on the short side my first playthrough was around 6.5 hours but boy is it fun! I may try and Platinum this game just as I did on RE2R.
@playstation1995 Nice, I loved Darkest Dungeon. One of my games of this generation for sure!
Have a guess ..FF7 remake. Just finished chapter 4 and it's wonderful so far and ooohhh Tifa. It's basically 7 in a 15 skin with a smattering of XIII thrown in, but in a good way
Also playing Doom Eternal for a break from FF7
Have a great an Easter as you can in these crazy times guys ♥️
FINAL FANTASY VII Remake
it's me so you know that's what it was going to be
Continuing to work my way through Dragon Quest XI whilst dipping into Subnautica and finally getting round to finishing off The Order 1886. Enjoying all 3 of them - good times!
@Arugula. Its really difficult.but extremely fun.im used to playing hard games.word up son
FF7. That'll be it for a while. Absolutely love it. It continues to put a genuine smile on my face.
@ShaiHulud darkest dungeon is one of the best game ever.the narator is awesome.back to the pit.word up son
FF 7 remake and persona 5 royal with some splinter cell blacklist added in. Man I forgot how brilliant blacklist is and it now has made me even more sad that we haven’t got a sequel in these past seven years
I’ll be playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Animal Crossing New Horizons when I can get away from my job. I’m an essential worker apparently, and our “stay-at-home” order isn’t doing anything in our town.
Wii games for this weekend.
1. Super Mario Galaxy
Have finished the storyline this evening. Phew, that was ridiculous hard to beat Bowser at Final Battle.
2. Pokepark 2 : Wonders Beyond
Have befriended with Snivy. Now i must gather more friendship level to enter the poster at Arbor Area.
Another FFVIIR here. They've absolutely nailed the personalities of the characters and how they interact with each other and the world around them.
@AFCC After you finish it, you unlock chapter select. Just the same thing as in an Uncharted game. You keep your levels, equipment, materia and everything else as if the end of the game. It's kind of like you're time travelling. You also unlock hard mode which you can switch to at any time. There are certain things you can only do in hard mode, and it changes the difficulty beyond just making the enemy stats higher. You use chapter select in conjunction with it so you can either go back to chapter 1 with hard mode on, as a kind of NG+, or just skip around as you see fit. Of course, you dont have to put hard mode on at all, though you need to to 100% it.
@Ralizah Still waiting for your physical edition? Not tempted at all to get a digital copy?
Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is beautiful and wonderful. It's brilliant to see all the changes and additions to the plot. It's such a different experience to the original - which is used as a basic plot framework - that I may have to replay the PlayStation classic once I've completed this. I particularly love how the roles of Jessie, Biggs and Wedge have been fleshed out. The boss of Chapter 7 is kicking my arse!
Also playing Persona 4 Dancing All Night and finding it great to be back with the lovely P4 cast. Last but not least lots of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which continues to have me mesmerised! I can't go out so it's nice to experience the cheery, nature-filled world of Mooksville.
@Matroska It's set to arrive next week. With that said, I got the Deluxe Edition for the price of the standard version, so, no, I won't be going digital with this one.
Nioh 2 (I simply adore its mix of Diablo and Soulslike, I could play it forever trying to improve my builds).
On Switch: Dragon Quest Builders 2 (totally addictive gameplay loop) and Luigi's Mansion 3 (coop with my GF), it is amazing how it looks great on the TV
FF7 and RE3. Wasn't too keen on RE3 at first, but I'm enjoying it more and more with every playthrough.
@Arugula I'd say the difficulty lies in properly preparing your party before you delve into a dungeon. Preperation is key in this game, you need to spend some times in menus and dig through some stats if you don't want to run into problems.
@playstation1995 Madness, our old friend!
I've never played or actually heard much about the first persona @crimsontadpoles... It's usually always Persona 2 (Usually Innocent Sin) I hear fans are talking about regarding the older entries. I was tempted to get a Playstation Classic on the cheap purely to try Persona 1 (Or Revelations Persona as it was called)
Have fun with it and Megaman 8!
I'm on my fourth run of Resident Evil 2, a game which I am enjoying immensely. Surely, a new Dead Space game can't be far away (flashes a glare in EAs direction).
@ShaiHulud. Eradicaced.begone fiend.their cursed champion falls.man i love this game.word up son
Final Fantasy 7 Remake whilst hoping to finish the Pacific Standard Heist on GTA Online.
Reading the comments section I feel like the poor cousin to you guys, most of whom are playing RE3 or FF7R...
I'm playing Days Gone and freakin' loving it! It has all the zombie apocalypse cliches that I love. Also, some of you guys were saying the main guy is an unlikeable Deek... Well, I find it quite refreshing to be honest
Happy Easter everyone!
Jealous of everyone playing FFVII R, but I’m taking a break from gameplay heavy games after completing Dead Cells and instead started Batman: The Enemy Within. Finished Episode 1 and so far it’s everything a Telltale Batman game should be.
@BearsEatBeets I'm about that far too. Chapter 11 or 12. I love it so far
@playstation1995 it's brilliant! Can't wait for part two.
@Matroska Nice! Thanks for the info man, this was very helpful
@Arugula I just love the Wild West setting. I never got into GTAV online.
Just finished uncharted 4 and lost legacy and boy what a blast these games are.
@ShaiHulud yes part 2 will be amazing.word up son
FF7 Remake, 20 hours in and am on Chapter 11, this game is absolutely near perfect!
This has definitely set a bar for releases this year.
FF7 Remake for me too, I don’t think the demo did it justice at all. The opening few hours are extremely hit and miss but once the game starts to open up you can appreciate the combat a lot more. It just makes me wish I could leave Midgard though, all my favourite parts and characters are from later on.
@Obbie169 I'm up to chapter 15 now and other than a bit of frustration with one enemy and quite a few deaths (prob just me being a bit crap) I've been nicely surprised by it. It's been better than I expected. Looks like I'll see the end tomorrow then consider the Platinum.
My (not so little) nephew asked me to play MH: World with him online this weekend 😊😎
Great thing about Videogames - breaks that age divide and can get some questions in about school and friends between hunts 😉
Going to dust off some move controllers and play Sports Champions 2 golf on my PS3.
Just finished Lara Croft GO main campaign on the Vita. The bonus levels are too hard, so I'm taking a break with it.
Finished playing Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders (the whole game, all five episodes) on Steam. Started playing Hexen, oh it's an awesome game! Vastly more complex than Doom/Heretic.
I plan also another try to play Saw on the X360. It is good too, it's like a simplified The Evil Within but with the distinctive riddles of the Saw franchise.
Nothing on PS4 right now, besides Puyo Puyo Tetris several times a week with my girlfriend.
Tomorrow arrives my retail copy of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for the PS4. Will try it a bit, but I'm going to play it later.
Days Gone baby
Nioh 2, Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter World:Iceborne
And starting up Night in the Woods for the first time
Starting the Final Fantasy VII Remake tonight.
Am trying to resist buying new games, despite the money I'm saving from all the sodding pubs being closed. Dusted off Brut@l and Portal Knights from my library, and they're both amusing me (great graphics, both).
playing nioh way of nioh. that is not realy fun but i must finish it.
All about Final Fantasy 7 remake for me. Absolutely love it. Won't be playing anyrhing else until im done with that, and then i'll be going back to Life is Strange 2, which im also enjoying.
Worth noting that i hope people have kept their backlogs well stocked. I've been looking around at other games online and it appears they are selling out almost everywhere. Very glad i picked up the Yakuza remastered collection and Persona 5 Royal a couple of weeks ago!
Persona 5 Royal - the superior JRPG
(Don't take that too seriously btw. Not a fan of old FF7 but I still have hopes for the remake, which has been on my shelf, sealed for over a week.)
Xenoraptor, and Atomine.
@kyleforrester87 I missed the fishing tournament and I'm sad
I'm playing FF7R, just started Ch 8. This is really good.
@AFCC not sure what made it a tournament exactly but I got a snazzy T-shirt and bag out of it so all good!
Trying to cross play cod warzone with my buddy on pc but its confusing, think we got it working and a match started but then got kicked from the server right away.
Anyone got any tips?
I only have a switch so I’m playing black flag.
I moved back from Australia 2 weeks ago and our house contents are stuck in port somewhere until the lockdown ends including my PS4. Should have packed it in my suitcase! 😁
Taking a break from AC odyssey to play the Bioshock collection, somehow never played the games first time around!
Going to the tomb in the Ringed City, he rolled back the stone. The angel said "Do not be afraid, for I know you are looking for Jesus, who was killed by a gank squad. He is not here, he has respawned. Come and see the place where he lay, before he rage quits the bloody game"
Happy Easter everybody
@Softshepherd
I envy you! You're in for a treat. The first Bioshock is, IMHO, among the greatest games ever made. Enjoy!
Persona5 Royal. 45 hours in and I still have to enter the 3rd dungeon. Will I ever finish this game? 😂
Well after days of not knowing what to play and putting games on and going no, not in the mood for that, i started nioh yesterday, im really enjoying it although its pretty hard, currently stuck on the 2nd boss man hes annoying, prob spent two hrs last night on him nearly killing him most times, so today i think will be make or break with this game lol. Also interested in getting curious expedition, heard some good things about it so might get that if i rage quit nioh lol
Hoping to squeeze in some animal crossing and see what I can do with the 60 odd earth eggs my daughter and I have got! Anyone reccomend a good switch screen cover to to reduce glare? Tried to play it outside yesterday but even on brightest setting, couldn't see a thing. Still getting some star wars fallen order and gta4 in, both are great and really enjoying my gaming at the minute. Enjoy copious amounts of chocolate and stay safe folks
Playing The Touryst on switch and have to say it looks stunning!
@R1spam you still playing gta4? Don’t tell me you’re one of the eight people that hasn’t bought gta5 yet?!
@Dodoo haha no afraid not, it was one of the first games I got when I bought my ps4! I really fell out of gaming during the ps3/360 era and missed a huge number of games. Have slowly been going through them and it's been great. Played red dead, portal, the mass effect trilogy and skyrim (not finished it yet) in the last 12 months and still have portal 2, half life 2, witcher 2 , max payne 3 and alan wake to go! To be fair, some of the best games I've played on ps4 are actually ps3 games remastered. Some great titles this gen but for sheer depth of quality, I think the last gen edges it.
I've dusted off the laptop and booted up some nostalgia in the form of some Spectrum games! I've been playing Dizzy, Treasure Island Dizzy (having only one life is a right £$@#), Cyclone and Feud. I'm also plugging away at the GBA version of Final Fantasy (yes, the first one!) and in the modern era, making my way through the latter part of UC3, Drake's Deception, via the Nathan Drake collection on the PS4. I'm overdue some PSVR time, so I may get a bit of Astro Bot, Blood & Truth and Bound played tomorrow.
@R1spam
Dude that is some absolutely banging games you’ve played and have still yet to play. Wish I could approach all of those again as completely new game’s.
@kyleforrester87 I hope they do it again
FF7 remake and savouring every minute of it. I'm spending too much time in the materia menus though! And taking breaks with some Age of Empire DE on PC. Stay safe y'all.
Attempting to finish Control. Meaning if I can overcome the constant crashes, frame stutter, excruciating load times etc. Really enjoy a lot of the gameplay, but my god is the optimisation dogsh*t.
@AFCC he’s back in July!
Spider-Man on PS4, and Steamworld Quest on Stadia.
@kyleforrester87 Will we reach july though? xD
@R1spam hah good man and the best thing is last gen games are cheaper too!
I had a similar situation at the end of last gen after owning a 360 I swapped it for a PS3 about a year before PS4 came out and just had loads of Sony exclusives to play through in quick succession. Good times!
Did you like red dead? Was one of my favs last gen. RDR2 didn’t come close imo...
Getting platinum on Hunt: Showdown finally and trying out Order 1886. Happy Easter all!
Yakuza Kiwami 2.
Finished the main story but going around and doing other stuff now (which is often my favourite part in RPG games), like playing golf, darts, levelling up/buying new skills, other substories, etc.
Awesome game and even though the areas aren't huge I think they're really well made and with loads of things to do.
@Dodoo rd1 is an amazing game! The open world is great and Mexico was fun. I really enjoyed RD2 as well, Arthur Morgan is probably my favourite video game protagonist ever but I can see the games flaws. The island trip is poor and stops the story dead.
@BearsEatBeets I finished this on Monday. I felt it was a great game, loved the world and the story. I've never heard people bash it before but also nobody really talks about it either which is sad for it being as good as it is. Oh, and trust me I had the same problem with 2 of the fights as well.
@Obbie169 I finished on Sunday. I wrote a few thoughts on the 'games recently beat' thread. Definitely feel it has flown under a lot of peoples radar which is a shame.
