One of the big benefits to Microsoft ever so slightly lifting the lid off of its next-gen Xbox Series X is that developers around the globe feel much more comfortable making their plans public. One example is Bungie, which has today revealed that Destiny 2 will be coming to PlayStation 5.
Of course, it was always going to be playable on the upcoming console through backwards compatibility, but this confirmation suggests that a native version will bring with it some worthwhile enhancements. Console players will immediately point towards the PC's 60 frames-per-second advantage while we're sure updated visuals will also be on the wishlist. Bungie signs off by saying that there are "more details to come." We will bring you those updates when the developer chooses to share more here on Push Square.
Would you go back to Destiny 2 at this point in time or has the ship long since sailed? Let us know in the comments below.

So stoked
Super smooth frames with instant planet dive load times and I might just jump back in.
Bungie are still flogging that dead horse, I see.
It would make a great launch title!/s
I went back a couple of months ago after losing interest when Cayde 6 was murdered. It's still fun in moderate doses.
@Grimwood You only want two to five games to release per year on the PS5? What?
I thought the PS5 was going to have backwards compatibility??
Hmmm why? xD
Unless you get it for free if you have it for PS4. This game is basically dead..
@TrueAssassin86x hate to tell you but water is not wet 😉
It’s a shame Bungo kinda ruined the game when it went F2P. The seasonal model is just kinda crap, plain and simple. It’s no accident that the very best MMOs, FFXI, FFXIV, WoW etc are all subscription based, it takes away the dependence on MTX. This game is basically Eververse Simulator now.
Sony really needs to come out and speak more about these BC versions/PS5 versions.
What does Bungie mean? that they're selling a PS5 version? That the PS4 version works on PS5? If not, will we need to pay to have the so called "upgrades" like 60 fps?
Will of course give it a go. Havent played in a while and I'm sure there's some content Ive missed. If it has enhancements and some good expansions I'd be happy to dive back in a bit!
So are they going to try to sell it again or will it be upscale to take full advantage of next gen for free, like Cyberpunk and AC?
@oldschool1987 It's Bungie, they would charge you the full-price 3 times without any shame if they found out how they could pull that off.
@u4gReservoirDogs lol probably
Destiny 2 went free to play but still needed PS+ to play online, I think they should focus on destiny 3 for next gen & go F2P from the start, maybe with a BR mode + cross play
@ApostateMage So your now just going to get the pc version and believe me I have this on my Samsung 1Tb Evo drive and I still don't notice a y difference in load speed to planet the servers can be a bit crap sometimes
There's supposedly a new expansion at the end of year, shadowfall didn't add much, Bungie seem to get stuck on that moment like D1s The Taken King. The dlcs before it were crap but then they release one great one and for D2s that was Forsaken. I don't know why instead they re do the whole thing and add Destiny 1 and destiny 2 together and release that then just call it Destiny Online and then just add content like it should have done in the first place.
I don't think I'm gonna buy Destiny ever again. I bought the first and every DLC and felt so much regret buying them cause they were so lackluster. Destiny 2? Does the exact same stuff again. DLCs are lackluster, short, and have the same enemy types with a different tyoe of skin with a forgettable story. I'm out.
