After teasing the reveal earlier this week, Codemasters has announced DIRT 5.
This new take on the off-road racing series looks to take things back to a more laid back setting -- a sim racer this ain't. You can get a feel for what this game is all about in its debut trailer, embedded above.
It looks to have a wide variety of vehicles, events, and locations as you drift across ice, race through muddy tracks, and bash into each other in closed circuits. It gives off some slight Motorstorm vibes, which we certainly appreciate.
It's set to feature a career mode starring -- yes -- Nolan North and Troy Baker, among other voice talent. Four players can race at once in split-screen, too, and naturally there will be online play, plenty of customisation options, and lots of modes to enjoy.
DIRT 5 is a cross-gen title, coming to both PlayStation 5 and PS4. The game is due to launch "from October", so it seems it'll make it onto PS5 as a launch game. It should be a fun way to break in your next-gen console.

Maybe because I watched this thru my phone but looked like a PS4 game.
Best thing showed by far imo! Just got the Dirt Rally 2.0 platinum this morning so I'm all in on this. Will be a great PS5 launch game hopefully!
@Glennh73 most of the early games will do because they are, this was confirmed to be 4K 60fps on Xbox with a 120fps mode as well, presumably the same for PS5 too
Pretty excited for this one!
So it's Dirtza Horizon then Good for the guys who are into arcade. I'll wait for Dirt Rally 3.0
Dirt 4 is an excellent game.
Pretty much the only thing I remember from the live. ^^
Oh yes this looks right up my dirty dirt track!
Loved Wreckfest and will be happy for more in that vein...
Next gen launch game? SOLD!
Be they arcade, simcade or simulation, more racing games are always a good thing in my book.
Count me in, not sure what system I'll be playing it on though
@Glennh73 it is because it's cross gen title.
it looks like a skip from me.
It looks like a cross between Dirt and Grid and a hark back to dirt 2. It could be good, I'll be getting it.
