Update: Some had suggested that yesterday's Twitter post from the official Mafia account was connected to Mother's day. However, a new message suggests that some kind of promotional campaign is underway. A new message maintains the one word theme: "Power."
Seems like something is happening, presumably this week.
Original Story: Mafia III may have had its shortcomings, but 2K Games’ crime series continues to have a lot of spirit. And now, amid rumours of a Mafia II remaster and a full-blown sequel, the franchise’s social media account has sprung into life. Writing on Twitter for the first time in almost two years, the account simply said: “Family.”
2K Games confirmed earlier in the year that a new Mafia from developer Hangar 13 will be revealed this year, while various ratings for Mafia II: Definitive Edition leaked last month. Geoff Keighley is scheduled to reveal a new title as part of his Summer Game Fest on 12th May, so we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some kind of connection here.

All three Mafia games have had flaws and shortcomings, but I still love this series anyway. Very excited to see where they go after Mafia 3, which had some amazing ideas.
rumor is next game is set in Chicago ? take it with grain of salt anyway....
Dixie Mafia would be interesting, it’s not a topic covered very often. They could go full scale Sicilians which would be fun as well.
Mafia I was the best for me. Instant classic. I remember you could shoot the tires of the cars... All the game was like playing Goodfellas. Pure love.
I loved Mafia 3's Empire building. They just needed to increase the variety of ways to build it.
Loved Mafia 2's story.
If they can add Mafia 2's story to 3's empire building with some variety, we have a winner.
How about a Mafia 1 remake? I couldn't bear the game being so outdated when I played it a year ago on the PC. Too clunky for my taste.
Yes please. Love this series anything will do me. Remasters of 1 & 2 and new game - all three.... yes please
Yes!
I'll take anything at this point tbh. I know it wasn't that long since Mafia 3, but it's great to know there's something in the works again.
We don't get anywhere near enough crime games like this imo. With how successful GTA is, you'd think they'd still be coming out all over the place but they're not.
@gollumb82 Mafia 1 has possibly my favourite story in all of games
@roe
I liked the story, too. The game's mechanics could use a facelift though
Mafia 2 is a wonderful game and one of the few i regret selling. I have Mafia 3 lined up to play at some point and im sure i'll enjoy it
Mafia II was great, I'd absolutely pick up a remaster. I loved the setting of III, but the gameplay was a buggy drag. I hope the next is a step forward and not back.
@gollumb82 Yess!! That's what I want to. Dont think we really need a Mafia 2 remake, but I'd be all over the 1st one.

Yet we have wonderful people who don't acknowledge or appreciate Rockstar's crazy talent. Goes to show if making their types of openworld was that easy, we woulda had a lot of those but we don't.
@MattSilverado I just recently got a PS2 so excited to play hit on that only Mafia game I ever played was a bit of Mafia 2 and a bit of Mafia 3 definitely want to get back into the series
Please be a new game
@TheArt who doesn't appreciate Rockstar??
@roe They exist.
They're making a Fast & Furious game?
I have several plays of Mafia 2 and dlc on my PS3. One of my last gen favorites and playing again with updated 1080p graphics @ 60 fps would be very tempting. Certainly great for first timers.
An all new game that follows the design and style of the first 2 games would be very great news. Mafia 3 was fun, had some cool features, lots of 60's music, and i could feed gators. All fine, but not Mafia. For me Mafia 3 would have been Vegas or a northern city in the 60's or 70's.
@MattSilverado ur comment made me shed a tear
Please let them go back to a mafia 2 style story and structure. That game was superb!
@interista87 I would love a remake of the first one... Still remember the opening scene with the cigarette hitting the street, you knew right there it was something special. If I'm not wrong the game was made by Illusion Softworks, that previously made Hidden&Dangerous, that despite serious flaws was an incredible game and even better to play coop over lan.
The first Mafia on PC was great, loved the 2nd one on PS3....The 3rd one however ? Fugedaboudit.......a boring, repetitive slog with crap stealth mechanics
I never got into this series. Played 3 when it was free on plus but it just didnt grab me. Everything was a bit too much by the books in my opinion.
Combat was fine but hardly innovative, and taking over rackets quickly became a chore and I dropped it.
Nice to see a lot of people enjoying it though. I can understand the charm a bit.
Would definitely play Mafia 2 again. Different dev but I'd love to see Scarface: The World Is Yours get a remaster. That game was awesome back in the day.
I much preferred Mafia 2 to the GTA games. The story was great.
Mafia 2 remaster with all new booster packs and real life slotmachines.
I loved Mafia 2, liked 3 and I’m ready for a new one.
Mafia 1 was hands down the best one. I'd definitely like to see a remake
