Mortal Kombat is obviously known for its blood and gore, but it's no stranger to some lighthearted levity either. Friendships have been included in various games in the franchise's past, and are an alternative to fatalities that swap out the carnage for cuteness. Mortal Kombat 11 is bringing them back in an impending content update, and you can see a few of them in the above trailer.
These are obviously very silly, but seeing Scorpion hug a giant teddy bear, Sub Zero serving up ice cream, or Liu Kang busting out his disco dance moves is joyous. These friendships are part of a free update coming to the game on 26th May, when premium expansion pack Aftermath is also scheduled to release.

This looks incredible.
Love MK11, but it always felt like it was missing something w/o stage fatalities and friendships... Awesome job NetherRealm 👍🏼
I love how the trailer made it clear that Friendships were always meant to be an out-of-place, non-contextual rebuttal to media watchdogs.
Epic sax at the end is...uh...epic....
Jax plays an alto sax - tenor sax sound plays.
Mileena!!! Hopefully this isn't the last we see of her...
That Terminator one with Arnie's goofy smile had me in stitches.
Why did they just give away so many friendships? I at least wanted to be surprised!!
@cashflowx Maybe fighters will have more than one? If not, I'm hoping we'll see more in the future!
I'm thinking of buying MK11 last MK I owned Deadly Alliance on PS2
