As has already been confirmed by a dozen or so social media influencers with approximately 15 times more clout than us, Sony has provided us with The Last of Us: Part II review code and we’re currently playing the game. And that’s all we’re really allowed to say at this stage, which is all a bit frustrating for you, isn’t it?
So, when can you learn more? Well, first of all there’s a State of Play coming up, and you can find out when and where to watch that through here. Then we’ll have a full review right here on Push Square on Friday, 12th June at 12AM PDT. In the meantime, if you could avoid sharing spoilers in the comments, that’d be grand.

Damm man you did not have to rub it in like that
Anyway can you guys at least say who of the staff will write the review?
Awesome. Interested to hear discussion about this game whether good or bad when the time comes.
Were you spoiled before playing it or are you experiencing it "the normal way" ?
Won't be long now. Perfect game to play during the lock down. Stay at home. Play games. Save lives.
So jealous right now :/.

How I feel
@Cornaboyzzz they had it spoilt like so many of us 😞
I cant wait to read their review. I really hope the game is brilliant and a massive FU to all those people that have behaved so appallingly over the past month
Why on 🌎 did they give the code over 2 weeks before the embargo lifts? They are just asking for the date to be breached.
I waited a generation to play the first one, so I can wait for the perfect patch or the PS5 version to play the sequel.
I read this story but, I am actively avoiding all others, anything to do with TLOU2, including today's State of Play.
I want to know nothing of the game until I play it at 00.01 on 19th June 2020.
As if we didn't already know it's gonna be a 10/10 for you 😉
@Nyne11Tyme Hopefully that won't happen. I appreciate the early lead time as it allows us to do more with it.
@Cornaboyzzz Can't really answer this question without elaborating more. Sorry.
@jdv95 Yes, I'm playing it.
@Nyne11Tyme. All i want is a joel gameplay.and its going to be interesting .word up son
For the review to hit a week before release, it means that Sony and ND are very confident that the game is great, or even excellent.
It happened with God of War.
@clvr probably but god of war is still going to be pushsquare number 1 ps4 exclusive.so yeah.word up son
@get2sammyb Does it have a recap feature for people who didn’t play the first one or played it a long time ago? I’d like to play the second one without replaying the first one but I’d like a refresher on what happened
Now we know who to blame if another bunch of leaks show up
It's typically a good sign when the review embargo lifts early.
Don't really see the point to this article other than a little bit of showing off?
There's already an article about the State of Play, this article says you can't say anything about the game, so this doesn't need to exist.
I decided to wait before purchasing the game, for obvious reasons. I just hope reviews provide a clear and impartial reviews of the game.
Couldn't care less for any review (ever). I'll play game. I like it, or not. If the latter, I'll refund or sell. The end.
@playstation1995 i think itll be flip flopped from last time. Mostly Ellie but she will get hurt or captured and old Joel will take over
Guys, you already know the plot of the game.
It's a zombie apocalypse with MUSHROOMS.
Game's a stealth prequel to the Mario universe. The end.
@DotM i wouldnt expect that. Especially considering some sympathize with ND over the hate they are getting. Im not saying they should or shouldnt but this game is going to make it difficult to keep personal views out
@Grimwood
excuse me but why is my opinion pathetic? Based on the leaks I have seen, i have decided to wait for honest reviews rather than making a day 0 purchase. Then I will decide on whether to buy it brand new, or borrow / buy 2nd hand. What is wrong with that?
At least you guys have a lot of time to play through the game before the embargo lifts.
I bet it's a pain when codes aren't sent until the week of release.
@Nyne11Tyme
Exactly. I would like to really know whether what i know so far is founded. And with what i know so far, im not paying for it.
That's nothing, I'm currently playing Half Life 3.
@Cowboysfan-22 We wrote a recap article: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/05/feature_the_last_of_us_-_full_story_recap
Well this makes a nice change. Sony must have confidence in the game to give you codes so far ahead of release.
Are you enjoying it so far and does it hold up to the first game based on what you have played at the moment?
@arkhamtheknight Can't answer this, sorry. I know it's super annoying, but Sony has asked us not to share anything until the aforementioned date.
Sorry!
Sooooo, any good?
If there were a number up to 10 clickers in a room, how many Clickers would you think would be a fair number?
As others have already said,generally a positive sign when reviews sent through earlier & the embargo lifts ahead of release. Unlike Bugthesda or 2K dump & runs,or Activision waiting to patch in mtx after the positive reviews!
I am curious about the State of Play for newer mechanics like the cover system etc.,that were mentioned ages ago,but am wary of spoilers after what's been going on. I've hardly seen anything since regarding new Clickers etc.

A big thumbs up to Sony for putting out review copies ahead of release.
I realise game journalists aren't entitled by right to this, but the sudden switch to withholding games without favourable press and review embargos is all very shady.
Whatever the quality of the game I applaud Sony for not stooping to the depths of certain other video game publishers.
@Crimson_Ridley Ehhh, I mean to be fair, they announced when the review will be available. I mean that is something to get hyped about right? Seriously though, why say something if you can't expand on it?
"I have this really cool story but I am not allowed to tell you until arbitrary time has come. Please enjoy being tortured with that knowledge that I know something cool and you don't until then."
It is as bad as an announcement for an annoucement.
Give it to me! I will pay you, I will rub your back, I will get a ticket to the Uk for it, I will never ever disagree with any review score, I will never visit another gaming website!
@MS7000 I know it's annoying. I wasn't going to say anything, but other people started posting they had the game on Twitter and I was getting asked.
Where are your offices? Asking for a friend 😉
Might be an unpopular opinion but I for one am glad you guys have the code so early. A game like this deserves as much time as possible to review! Early guess is 9 or 10/10
@get2sammyb That's fair. Admittedly I don't follow either PushSquare or Nintendo Life on social media... don't shoot me, please, NO, AAAAAAAAARGH!
..Anyway as I was saying, since I don't follow the social media, I didn't realise you were being pestered there so whilst annoying, it does make sense to do the article.
Sorry guys, I couldn't care less about TLOU2. I played the first. it was good, not great. I found parts of it played some of the 'contemporary' issues and themes in the POV and storyline in a heavy handed way.
From what I've seen of the official trailers and gameplay, it seems there's even more of the 'Look how right on and risk taking we are' going on. I can't help thinking TLOU2 has been male-feminist righteously over-egged.
The guys should have stepped aside completely 100% and let a team of women writers work through the themes.
If I'm honest with news like this it should have just been shipping to the many so we could all enjoy it now.
@Grimwood wow, bit hateful, aren't you? He doesn't like the story direction, so he's not that interested. That's his opinion, he's entitled to it, there's literally zero reason to insult him for it. Grow up.
I'm impressed that the developers are letting the reviews come out a week before the game release. Seems like a bold Hail Mary for the company. Either you get a whole bunch of positive reviews that can wash away the negative stigma around this game or people lay into an already limping PR campaign. No matter what it shows that the developers stand by their work and you have to give them applause for that.
@get2sammyb Are you enjoying it?
Edit: nevermind
I look forward to your biased review that still gives it a 10/10, even if everything is a narrative disaster.
@Bliquid You sound biased in your own way.
Nanomachines, son.
Congrats for getting it early. Enjoy 😊
Yes!!! Can't wait to buy this game. Just finished replaying the first part. Can't hardly wait!
Not interested.
But hey, if anyone wants a Steel book it'll be available in the Chicago Suburbs when I'll finally be able to cancel mine.
@Bliquid Haha! Well good to know you've already made up your mind regardless of what anyone writes before you've even played it.
@Menchi Oh look, a biased hater that hasn’t even played the game for himself yet. Not like we have plenty of those around. 🙄 I know all about the spoilers and I’m still hyped as hell. I’m ready to experience the whole package, even the parts that everyone’s outraged by. 😉
@get2sammyb Let me try to get some answer! Do the graphics look super insanely good on a 4k tv and a ps4 pro? Gameplay wise, I mean!
I'm jealous you're playing, but I can hold on 3 more weeks 100% Maneater lol
@AFCC Nice try but I'm not allowed to answer that either. Wait for State of Play tomorrow.
@JesWood13 If you think I'm biased, as someome planning to buy the game, instead of the obvious fanboy media outlets, you clearly don't know the meaning of hater.
@get2sammyb D: I knew you wouldn't answer! Will you be able to answer some question on the 12th?
@Menchi Your reply is like navigating a maze. Like what? Lmao
@JesWood13 I don't expect someone like you to be able to grasp it, don't worry.
@playstation1995 nah, we all know @get2sammyb's favorite game is Persona 5 😉
@clvr. But god of war is still number 1 in exclusive.word up son
@AFCC Yes, I’ll be super active answering questions!
@Bliquid Fair enough, you’re entitled to your opinion.
@Bliquid Are we talking about the same Sammy that openly hates Jak 2?
@Rob_230 honestly imo it's not the spoilers themselves that ruined the game. It was the response of ND and Sony that ruined it for me...
@Menchi I’m Menchi, I speak in riddles that contradict what I’m trying to get across because I’m such an intellectual! Look at me, I’m so smart!
@Bliquid If you’re so disgusted by violence, then why are you playing games to begin with? Lol, or watching movies or tv for that matter.
@Menchi Also if you think this is simply just a fanboy site, then I ask why are you here? I trust Sammy to give an accurate, unbiased review. Just because you want it to be a 2/10 because you don’t like that story, doesn’t mean it’s not gonna be a 7-10/10 for someone else, so get over yourself. Don’t like it, don’t buy it.
See people ^ this guy gets it.
They seemed worried about the spoilers and then sent loads of 'review copies' out 25+ days early?
@Rob_230 very doubtful - I imagine unless you disagree with the points they make for why these guys have said it will/is ***** then it won't change anyone's opinion on it bud
@get2sammyb it would be nice if they would provide you with 2 codes or you have a way of having that account on 2 PS4s as i assume you will be playing this on a pro (for obvious reasons).
Then us mere mortals (that are in the majority) could find out how this runs/looks on the base model.
@playstation1995 boy are you thick.
C'mon, get a joke when it hits you in the face, instead of always spouting the same fanboyish drivel about GOW and GTA.
Hey will you look at that, it turns out that the story/synopsis that many people read on reddit or 4chan is all fake, the cutscenes that were leak some are true and some aren't. Why i say this because according to a reviewer who played the game to the end confirms this, if you don't believe me read the tweets from @GenePark.
And this is why destiny 2 died, because of woke whales and brain dead people like you and the people in this comment section. Zero taste in gaming, you mindlessly like everything like a disturbing zealot without knowing the wrongs and the rights. You people are not gamers, you are brain dead trend following zombies who want to ruin gaming as a whole.
