Forget about those Tony Hawk rumours -- Skater XL is a real skateboarding title confirmed for PlayStation 4. Looking like a slightly more realistic spin on EA's Skate series, the indie game now has a locked-in release date. Skater XL manuals onto PS4 on 7th July.
The new trailer above emphasises the game's customisation options, which include plenty of licensed clothing brands. With free-form gameplay and physics-driven tricks, this is sounding like a fairly promising take on the sport. At this point, we'll take what we can get, but this at least looks to be of a good quality. In a couple of months, we'll be able to take it for a spin and see what it's all about.

Sweet! Now get rid of the wheels, put some snow underneath, get Yellowcard doing the soundtrack, bring back Nate and Zoe and we’ll be talking!
Good collection of brands there. I’ll stick to my PC copy once it gets out early access and for access to user created maps but I’ll probably rock an Enjoi deck, Independent trucks, Bones bearings, Ricta wheels (Clouds if they have them) and some Grizzly griptape.
@kyleforrester87 I would love a new SSX game.
Man I hope it's good!
I loved Tony Hawk because it was so fun and arcadey but found Skate hard to play.
But I’ll give this a go if it’s good. We need more skating games that are actually good!
Was hoping for XXL but will take this. At least its better than L.
