Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, the 8-bit platformer released a couple of years ago as part of a Kickstarter stretch goal, is getting a sequel on the PlayStation 4. The title, which doesn’t currently have a release date, will feature four playable characters and an “epic new story supervised by [series creator] Koji Igarashi”.
You can check out a trailer embedded above. There’s no release date right now, but the blurb explains that you’ll be battling “through stages filled with fearsome enemies and dangerous traps, each with a massive boss waiting at the end”. I preferred Curse of the Moon to the main game, I'll definitely pick up the sequel
I have the first one, I'll play this one too. I prefer 16-bit graphics compared to 8-bit like this though.
I'll get this for sure. Loved the original too, although I did prefer the main game.

Distribution: Digital Only
Meaning it'll be on Limited Run Games a year after launch so the scalpers can roast the rest of us.
@carlos82 Ditto. Curse of the Moon was a really good modern take on NES-era Castlevania, but without any of the terrible design choices that plague a lot of those older games in the series.
Can't wait to play this.
@Shepherd_Tallon A lot of LRG releases have long preorder windows these days to ensure everyone has a chance to order a game they're excited for. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
It's cool that they're going to an 8-bit look. I wasn't a big fan of the first Bloodstained.
@3MonthBeef Oh, it is? I didn't know that.
@Shepherd_Tallon You are right probably so ill have too wait a year extra. 😆
@Ralizah Yeah they do that a lot more now but you still have some odd games that are stealth dropped with very few numbers.
@Flaming_Kaiser @Ralizah They leave a nice pre-order window open for weeks for a regular edition. Then right before launch they ninja drop a brief window for a Collector's Edition. I ordered Streets of Rage recently. Can't wait to get my hands on it, but I dreaded the ordering process.
Constantly refreshing to beat scalpers.
@Shepherd_Tallon That are the ones im looking for most of the time. Just got too play Jak and Daxter because of Limited Run Games. And now i can finally play Icey in the near future. 😆
@Shepherd_Tallon Streets of Rage i got the CE for that too cant wait. 😆 👍
Message for the scalpers
@Flaming_Kaiser lolol, nice message.
But yeah, don't get me wrong, I love LRG.
They had a lot of the old Star Wars games for sale over the last month too. That was very cool to see.
@Shepherd_Tallon Same here but i understand where you are coming from and the new shippingrates are criminal. 😔
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah for sure. It costs me so much to order from them now.
Streets of Rage Collector's Edition though. I just had to.
@Shepherd_Tallon Those ***** have me by the ##### with some games. Its funny that with some games i dont have a choice. 😆
@Flaming_Kaiser Oh yeah, I know your pain. I find myself getting fussier and fussier with the games I spend my time playing, but as you say, with some I just don't have a choice.
It's not even an impulse buy with some. It's an inevitability. And you know because it's LRG you only have so much time.
There's never enough time!!!!
@Shepherd_Tallon I do have a bit more regrets with games i bought and i think too myself why didnt you just leave it and thats not LRG related but in general.
@Flaming_Kaiser I've gotten quite good at that. As I said, I've gotten very fussy. I used to buy a game just because it was a chart topper or because someone mentioned it. Then I ended up with a collection that was mostly junk.
Now I'm very selective about the franchises I follow, and I enjoy the games I play far more because of it.
@Shepherd_Tallon The biggest problem is that i f you have too many games its almost impossible too choose what too play and i end up doing a MW multiplayer session. 😆
@Flaming_Kaiser Exactly. You can't enjoy the one you're on because there are five more behind it. It starts to feel like effort and less like fun. Then you burn out.
I'm telling you, get fussy.
@Shepherd_Tallon Do you play a lot of different stuff like shooters, RPG's, adventure, openworld or just a select amount of games genres?
@Flaming_Kaiser Survival Horror, Action Adventure, RPG, Action RPG, the occasional Beat em up and FPS, and every few years I get an RTS itch. Platformers are fun too.
I don't really mind the genre and gameplay as long as the setting or the plot interests me.
@Shepherd_Tallon Ah nice its always cool too hear a that somebody branches out. I love my short games like Gone Home, Wispering Willows, Child of Light i need too play Dear Esther and What Remains of Edith Finch i just read Ether One its a little like Gone Home was good that one is cheap. The Park is also nice and Layers of Fear. But if you want a cheap great game get the remaster Valkyria Chronicles great story anime turnbased RTS like. 😆
Ah Dear Esther is a great little game. I played it a few years ago and loved it.
But Valkyria Chronicles, I feckin love that game. It was one of the first two games I owned on PS3 along with Demon's Souls. I started playing Valkyria Chronicles 4 last year but never finished it. I'll have to get back to it.
I've never played What Remains of Edith Finch, but I keep hearing about it. I'll have to make the time at some point. If you want to try something random give They Are Billions a go. It's a cross between RTS and Zombie survival. I've been loving dropping in and out of that. I'm really bad at it, but it's still loads of fun.
