Cyberpunk 2077 has suffered yet another delay. This is the second public push back it has received, with a new release date of 19th November 2020 now announced. Confirmed by co-founder Marcin Iwinski and head of studio Adam Badowski in a Twitter statement, the developer claims that the title is feature and content complete but it needs more time to fix bugs and glitches. The coronavirus pandemic quite clearly has had a major impact on development despite the studio stating otherwise.
The PlayStation 5 will assumedly be launching right around this time, which leaves Cyberpunk 2077 in a very strange position. Is one of the first games we insert into our brand new console going to be a PlayStation 4 game? From the looks of things, that is definitely a big possibility right now.

Interesting. Wonder if this means they’ll be pushing the PS5 enhancements in the coming months then.
Oh boy, i will make popcorn, internet will be fun to watch today.
I'd sooner it be delayed than rushed out as a buggy mess with a hefty day one patch.
I'm super eager to play this, but their "ready when it's done" approach is the right way to do things. It's best to release a game in a fine condition, not full of bugs and issues.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is a launch game with the next gen systems now. Nov 19 is going to be very close to their release dates. Also people won’t now hold off buying it as they wait for the next gen version, which will now likely be around the same time.
Square Enix must be breathing the biggest sigh of relief right now.
They should take the time they need. A later release is WAY better than a buggy game, and I like the transparency here. And after all these PS store sales I've got so many games piling up that I haven't played, so... no big deal!
Was planning on waiting anyways, they can take all the time they need. Can't wait to fire this up on the PS5
November 19 huh? Hmm
PS5 launch date?
I can't deny I am a bit gutted but like others have said I want it launch in the best possible state and I have faith CDPR will be doing just that.
I have pre-ordered on the PS4 though (physical copy) so how does this work if I have a PS5 by then? Do I get the upgrades if it backwards compatible or does it only upgrade the digital version, daft question I know but I am unsure as I will no doubt rather play it on the PS5 now.
I was gonna buy the PS5 version anyway
Not a big deal for me. Gives me more time to set aside money for paying off the CE.
19th? that's a Thursday.
that's a bit unusual, but hey.. I saw today the PS5 could potentially release on the 20th - perfect timing!
Going to call it now.
19th November will be XSeriesX release date.
PS4, XB1 & Series X will be available at launch.
PS5 enhances features will be delayed (although base PS4 version will be playable on PS5).
It’s a conspiracy!
I agree with all that say it is best to wait until this is done, but the delay is still a bummer.
They'd be crazy not to release it with some sort of meaningful next gen upgrade at this point
@TrueAssassin86x I wanna say April something?
Defo xbox series x launch date
There's my launch title for the PS5 or XSX
Next week's event is going to make this news even harder to take.
Basically its gonna be a launch title for both ps5/xbox then? I wish WISH devs and publishers would just stop announcing any release date until it's gone gold at least.
Super popular game delayed to release on the Xbox One-Series X and the PS4-PS5 at the exact same time, yeah that wasn’t planned.
Got to be launching on next gen now, I wonder if they're struggling to get it to run on the base consoles, particularly the S
@carlos82 yeah i also wondered that.
it's a game i plan on getting for ps5 because i think the ps4 will struggle to run it without severe downgrades.
I was going to play this on PS5 anyway.
That's fine by me! Means I only need to buy it on PS5! Got TLOU 2 and Ghost Of Tshushima to enjoy before then anyway!
Not really bothered about the delay, I’ve got no plans of getting this game. But it’s a shame for all the people waiting for this game. At least this means that hopefully the game will run smooth & bug free. Also with the next gen consoles out then, they’ll sell loads of this game.
I mean the new date is the day before the next gen consoles launch. Plus or minus 5 days.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare leaked the PS5 launch date. Go into a warzone game or a 32 vs 32 match and you will see on signs all over downtown,

25.11.2020
@jdv95 its definitely one game that is begging to be played on more powerful hardware
13 Sentinels and D2: New Light are also on that month. So I'm good regardless.
Avengers just got a massive break. It was so going to get lost with CyberPunk also there at $60.
I had very little hope it would run fine on my launch PS4 anyway. This looked like a PC or PS5 purchase. Would be missing out on RayTracing on my PS4.
I'm actually quite OK with this. I could definitely see a PS5 version happening, and I would imagine in the coming months, they're going to announce one, so I won't need to double-dip.
I guess at this point it will actually launch after the next gen consoles.
That’s all good, it means I don’t have to practice restraint and can just start from zero with the most impressive visuals.
I was going to play it on PS5 anyway so this suits me.
I won't need any other games at Launch...
Come on CD Projekt Red, Be Honest; Just Say We are Scared of The Last of Us Part 2!
This was originally announced May 2012. 2012.
With the PS5 hype, I kinda forgot about this game lol.
Whoops.
This is not even funny.
Cyberpunk is making me really hate long marketing cycles for games.
Well at least now I'll have plenty of time to savour Ghost of Tsushima..
It's a shame as I had the week off when it was scheduled to release. Still, I firmly support their belief in releasing the game as polished as possible.
I've already got the PS4 CE pre-oredered so if the PS5 is out by then hopefully it will be patched up to play better on that.
Well considering it’s taken what 7 years or more to get to this point, I won’t be surprised if it takes another 3 or 4... but if it releases around Christmas time I’ll get it for the PS5.
I can't wait for it to be released in 2087 and it'll be hailed as a great nostalgic look back at 2077.
Heck Yeah I am even more excited that I can play it day one on PS5! I have had CyberPunk 2077 pre-ordered from day one. I don't mind the delays to make it a better game. I understand early release date announcements are just estimates! CDPR should be praised for taking the time to do it right the first time.
If they finally say that yes, the PS4 and PS5 versions are launching at the same time now, then I’d preorder the PS5 version right now. Looking at how long it took them to support the PS4 Pro compared to how they treated the Xbox One X, I just don’t want to take the risk.
@Octane Still think HFW in 2021? This game has been in production for like 7 years, was due out the beginning of this year, then the middle, now the end, and it's Cyberpunk:BotW now. Those underwater HFW scenes are breathtaking, but underwater is always a concern.
What's the last big game, not a yearly sports or FPS, that hasn't been delayed? Has this gen had 1? I suppose Ghost of Tsushima only had 1 but it felt a year later then everyone expected.
Sad but this is way better because now I will buy it directly on PS5
anyone remember biomutant?
what happened to that game? it was announced years ago and has had several delays aswell, and there is still no new date.
A real shame but not that surprising.
I planned on playing this game on the PS5 anyway but still not ideal.
Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima will have to make do whilst we wait.
😉
Jesus guys how about a little crunch?? These guys need Neil Druckmann standing at the end of their desks with a cane
Definitely seems like they're doing it to coincide with the next gen console launches which are both rumoured to be around that date. No biggie - just means more time to finish my ps4 backlog
Hope this is a straight next gen release now, I would have played this on PC as it looks like current gen will struggle but If I can play on next gen it I'll play there. Games are better on the big screen for me who spends all day working at a PC screen.
Anyone that gets genuinely angry at a delay needs to chill. More time in the oven is most likely a good thing, and CDPR have a great reputation for treating fans and consumers well.
This really just needs to be a cross-gen title at this point. Cyberpunk 2077 would be an incredible launch window title for PS5/Xbox Series X.
@rjejr Just because one game is delayed doesn't mean all of them will be. Also, the games aren't the same. Cyberpunk 2077 was announced 7 years ago, but didn't go into full production until TW3 was finished, which was in 2016. And unlike Horizon 2, this game isn't a sequel, so they can't reuse the assets, it's probably on a new engine, etc. So it will require a bit more work.
Not a good sign... 😔
Are we that sure Cyberpunk is a lock-in for ps5 enhancements though. We know CDPR is pretty close with M$ & they locked in a timed exclusive on the XboneX Witcher 3...took ps4pro months to get similar treatment & then needed further months patches to get it running acceptably. For all his bluster about despising 3rd party exclusives Gamer Phil has indulged in them (both indie & AAA),this gen.
I'm planning on buying the inevitable PS5 version/re-release, so not end of the world.
Hopefully it isn't just a straight up port though.
@LiamCroft
Did you guys see this:

Pretty big news if accurate, worth it's own news story?
There will be a day one next gen update patch for the backwards compatibilty version.
And then 2021/2022 the native PS5 version will be released, and will be free for anyone with the PS4 version.
So this pretty much confirms backwards compatibility games do have the option to be 'enhanced' with a patch from the developer.
Maybe the physical version will come with an extra disc or two for the PS5 data if needed (depends on how big a patch will be to take advantage of the next gen consoles or if they recompile it completely for the next gen consoles) and you load it up and then the PS4 disc has the licences for both versions. Pop the PS4 disc in a PS5 and it could ask you to insert the PS5 data disc or if you wanted to download the data via the network, then the PS4 disc would be used to launch either versions of the game. Just an idea of how it could work.
If this was anyone else people would be complaining but they always get a free pass for everything they do.
@Octane "Just because one game is delayed doesn't mean all of them will be.'
But that was kind of my point, ALL of them have been the past 5 or 6 years. Sometimes twice. It's like everyone is competing to be the next Duke Nukem Forever or Half-life 3.
If this wasn't CD Projekt Red then people would be pissed, instead all you see is a load of "take your time CDPR" and people just continue kissing arse. These delays don't bode well, they got a huge reputation from the witcher and while I am looking forward to cyberpunk, I don't think they'll be able to match the hype.
