Evidence is mounting for the announcement of the next Gran Turismo game for PlayStation 5.
A few weeks ago, racing peripheral maker Next Level Racing seemingly outed the existence of Gran Turismo 7 in a social post. The company said it was a fan-made logo, and they denied any knowledge of the next instalment in Sony's long-running simulation series.
Fast forward to now, and PlayStation has been busy neatening up its trademarks for the hallowed racing franchise. In Argentina, Sony Interactive Entertainment has renewed trademarks for the Gran Turismo name, the GT logo, and Polyphony Digital, developer of the series. What's perhaps most interesting about this, though, is that these trademarks were all filed on 4th June 2020 β the original date of the PS5 games reveal event.
This event was of course postponed indefinitely, but these newly filed listings suggest Sony is planning to unveil the next Gran Turismo β presumably named Gran Turismo 7 β during this PS5 broadcast. There isn't much more information to draw from this, but the timing is suspect to say the least.
Sony has said a new date for the PS5 event is coming soon, so hopefully we'll learn more in the coming days.

sigh
2020 has been a year to be forgotten. Hopefully now that we're halfway through it, things will start to improve.
Gt7 at ps5 launch would be great.
Oo nice, I hope it has great single player (no online) progression rpg like gt of old π
I hope it's got decent single player this time, GT Sport was hugely disappointing in that regard
@munkondi Are you mad lol. How about higher quality textures, 4K 120fps and ray tracing for a start.
@lacerz lets hope so. Most depressing year ever.
For me Gran Turismo 7 would make PS5 the best launch lineup of all the previous 4 consoles. A GT game is something I'd expect a year or two into the gen. That and something like Horizon 2 and I don't think I could resist.
Full game in VR please. GT Sport is amazing in VR. Just need some competitive races.
This would be an amazing launch title but I doubt it will be as the support for GT Sport is still strong, can we please have the second hand garages back from GT 3 and more VR content
@Mostik
I think they will mash GT Sports into GT7 and use Sports as the online component and GT7 as the main singleplayer campaign.
@Zeke68 That makes sense especially when we consider that Sony has announced that we will be able to download the parts of games that we want ie online or single player component only as with COD this time around. Good shout and I can't wait!
F12020, Dirt5, ProjectCars 3 and now a new GT. Amazing for racing fans! ππ π
They need full VR support. Racing games alone justified my VR headset on PC.
Hurry up SONY with the PS5 Show!!! :-/ The Last thing I want is loads of Leaks before the PS5 Show :-/
@Angelus3K and full VR implementation
Does it really come as a surprise that there is gonna be another gran turismo? Gran turismo is sonys simpsons. Its been there since the begining and will always be there.
@Dange @4kgk2 GT7 at launch would be great, but the speed at which Polyphony Digital work Iβm not holding my breath on that one!
Typical Sony. They launch with the same type of games every gen. Racing game, 3D platformer yadda yadda π. I can about guess what was gonna be shown at that cancelled event now...Gran Turismo, Ratchet and Clank, Call of Duty, whatever other 3rd party stuff was gonna be shown, and the remaster of the PS3 game Bluepoint is doing. There I just saved yall an hour of your life. Your welcome.
Would be a great launch title! Either way always looking forward to more GT!
Image a GT game with the social connection/events of Driveclub?
@Ken_Kaniff Why bother responding and being on this website if you can only be negative all the time.
GT Sport is the best racer this gen and GT7 would be huge for launch.
Excellent, now a decent range of tracks would be better. Quite how some other racing games can have over 100 real-world layouts and yet GT Sport just a mere handful is puzzling. More tracks please! Oh and more cars too
@Sanquine I'm not trying to be negative I'm just a realist. I've been a Sony fan for a long time. I can just almost predict what there gonna do. Especially at launch.
@Ken_Kaniff You know Sony don't make the GT games, right?
@Alex79uk Yes they do. Polyphony Digital is owned by Sony.
@munkondi the penalty system needs scrapping and replaced with a better version. There's a lot that can be improved on from Sport which at it's heart was only focused on being a online GT
GT7 gameplay and launch for ps5. Really hopeful for the ps5.
@Ken_Kaniff My bad, thanks for the correction
Calling for a triumphant return of the original CarPG!
Ridge Racer would be good, long forgotten by many.
But canβt see it happening π¬
@munkondi a fully fledged single player for starters. I dont have the skills or the time to invest to get said skills to race online. Its boring finishing last all the time π
@Spoonman-2 yeah man, was actually thinking about ridge racer 4 yesterday. As i was flicking through an old mag. That game was amazing as was rage racer.
@Grimwood you are possibly the most negative person on this site. Certainly live up to your name, grim!
@Ken_Kaniff time to hang up your controller mate.
Still my fave sim racer.
