Trails of Cold Steel IV now has a confirmed Western release date. The final chapter in the property's Erebonia arc comes to a close on the 27th October in North America and Europe.
With the previous game ending on a massive cliffhanger, we can't wait to see where the story goes. If you've been with the series from the start, then this fourth entry promises to be one heck of a roller coaster ride.

Brilliant series. Just finished playing the 3 games back to back last week. Can't wait for this now because what a cliffhanger.
Amazing, Day 1!... It has been such a great gaming journey.
Just finished catching up with Cold Steel 3 - excited for October.
Ahh, really close to the end of Sky the 3rd so only 5 games to catch up on before Cold Steel 4. I can do this!!

Man...I've been plying the first "arc" of the Legend of Heroes series - the Trails in the Sky trilogy - for some time now and I'm seriously impressed, pretty much instantly became a fan and I'm not even a huge JRPG guy overall. Still need to finish Trails in the Sky 3rd and then spend some serious cash on four Cold Steel games.
@Lurker @nessisonett Out of the six trails games I’ve played Trails in the Sky 3rd it’s the only one I haven’t finished. The first two trails in the sky and the 3 trails in cold steel all had a mixture of towns, over world, requests and dungeons. Whereas the third trails in the sky just seem to be one giant dungeon with doors leading to short stories. It became tedious long before the end. I certainly didn’t feel the lack of any of the story I must’ve missed in the later games so my advice would be to skip it.
@Ryall I’ve actually been really enjoying the 3rd. The first few hours you think it’s going to be a bland dungeon crawler but it gets really good towards the end and the story is probably the most mature it’s ever been. There’s even a whole chapter where you travel through dungeons from the other two games filled with boss fights against characters like Philip the butler, Lieutenant Colonel Cid and even the Divine Blade himself. It’s definitely different from the first two but I’ve been enjoying it for what it does.
Probably my last ps4 game before the ps5 is out
@nessisonett Maybe it’s time I gave it another go. I might be nearly at the end of the bland bit.
Would I need to have played previous games to enjoy/understand this one?
I'm still waiting to find the first 3 at a low price to add them to my backlog and feel bad about buying so many games
@NeoTokyo404
Yes as the continuing on from each other , you would be completely lost with the story and characters , it's not like most of the FF which are separate this continues the story with each game
@NeoTokyo404 While I think you could go into Cold Steel 4 blind and still have fun with it, you really need to play the past three games to get the full picture.
There are so many characters and individual plot threads at this point. I think jumping in now could lead to some serious confusion. Every game's a direct sequel.
You can kind of jump in at Cold Steel 3 since it takes place a few years after Cold Steel 2, but even then, as older characters are introduced, it definitely assumes that you're at least familiar with the first two games.

But ladies get near him
He’ll kiss a few gals
Then hang out with pals
And go wild on his own demon serum.
@NeoTokyo404 i'd say yes, as every game the story is connected . you can play as stand alone but you'll miss so much if you don't play the earlier games
This will be the last game I play on PS4 ... no better game for a swan song.
I'm still stuck at the end of cold steel 2. I want to move to the 3rd game, but i am derermined to finish the second after plugging over 70 hours into it. Definitely getting the 4th game.
@johnny30 Any game released after July has to work on the PlayStation 5, so you will be able to play it on your shiny new machine!
I'd recommened anyone interested in the series (and most specifically the story, characters and lore) to start from the beginning (Trails in the Sky). Granted I haven't even played the Cold Steel arc yet but everything I've seen so far and everything I've read points out that it's an overarching storyline, even if specific "arcs" are relatively self contained (think Marvel's Infinity Saga), characters reappear and plot points are continued.
