Reel off the titles that Sony announced for the PlayStation 5 during its reveal event overnight, and it makes for startling reading: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Gran Turismo 7, Demon’s Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – and these are just the highlights. The crazy thing is that, as PlayStation boss Jim Ryan admits, this is just a “glimpse” of what’s to come.
“We showed over two dozen games tonight,” he told CNET. “Over half will be exclusive to PlayStation when they launch and, you know, nine from our worldwide studios. I really want to convey the message that we're only getting started here.”
There were rumoured titles that the Japanese giant didn’t announce yesterday, such as a new Uncharted believed to be in development at a new Sony San Diego studio, and the heavily speculated Silent Hill. The manufacturer has said there’ll be more events in the future, and that this was just a taste to whet our appetite. That it’s just getting warmed up worries our wallet immensely.

I feel the next presentation Sony does will reveal the price and open the POs at various retailers.
I can definitely believe it as I've noticed Sony does not show everything their Partners/Studios are working on, and spreads them out over different events.
Of the 4 games listed in the "highlights" one is a remake and another is a remaster (that Spiderman news has bummed me out so much). GT7 didn't look amazing to me and the half they talk about being exclusive at launch is because Sony have paid Bethesda for timed exclusivity with Deathloop and Ghostwire.
I am hoping they do bring out the big guns later, because after the hype and smoke died down from last night's presentation I'm underwhelmed.
Edit: Ratchet and Clank genuinely looks amazing. If that's a launch title then I could still very well be in.
@pip_muzz Tough crowd. 🤷♀️
@get2sammyb It's fair to say I'm being a bit of a moaner here. Its the Spider-Man game that has me so disappointed. It looked like a proper new game (albeit clearly on the same engine as the last one, but I'm fine with that). That being a remaster knocked down my must own games from 4 to 3 (others still being Sackboy, Ratchet and Clank and Horizon 2)
Er of course SONY This is just the start I dread to think what The Last of Us 3 will look like on the PS5 & God of War ll & Ghost of Tsushima 2 &...well you get what I am saying
@pip_muzz these pre alpha builds looked better than that other presentation from that other company.....
This has set me off again. For the 5th time in less than 24 hours I've been moved to tears of joy at what Sony are delivering to us fans and gamers, from the games they've shown us to the reveal of the PS5, and more to show us in the coming months. Genuinely lost for words, I'll leave it there.
They showed a new Ratchet & Clank. That’s good enough for me. I hope they will be more creative this time around.
I believe sony bought housemarque.that game from them yesterday was cool as ice .twice as nice.and housemarque never had a bad day in theyre life.word up son
@pip_muzz If it's any consolation, the PS Blog says:
"The latest adventure in the Spider-Man universe will build on and expand Marvel’s Spider-Man through an all-new story. Players will experience the rise of Miles Morales as he masters new powers to become his own Spider-Man. With PS5’s ultra-fast SSD, players can near-instantaneously fast-travel across Marvel’s New York City, or feel the tension of each one of Miles’s web-swings, punches, web shots, and venom blasts with the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback. Highly-detailed character models and enhanced visuals across the game intensify the story of Miles Morales as he faces great, new challenges while learning to be his own Spider-Man."
I really don't think the remaster interpretation is correct. I think it's going to be a shorter stand alone game. As long the price point reflects that, I'm happy. But we'll see.
@Cutmastavictory That goes without saying. This was significantly better than Microsoft's presentation. Actual gameplay was shown here for starters. I know I'm being overly critical. Its not from a whingy place, but from just wanting more and more from these companies. Sorry if I was overly negative
They have to cover different genre aimed at different age group. It is impressive for the launch games. More games will come of course. Don’t forget PS4 launch with kill zone and knack.
@Grimwood Golden Abyss says hi.
I think I'm all Uncharted out by now. I feel like it's tie Sony moved on and left it alone for a while. However it is good to hear there's more to come in terms of reveals / livestreams. I want to see a teardown of the PS5 system itself. I'd also like to see some in-depth gameplay videos like the one we got for Ghosts of Tsushima so we can more accurately see what some of these games are actually like to play. This was a god start, but I think they'll need to show more.
I'd rather see them take their time with eg: God of War 2. HZD 2 came as a bit of a surprise seeing something this soon. Anyway, happy for a bit more dripfeed. Whilst first party cross gen titles aren't obviously happening, we still need to hear what'll happen with the likes of Control/GTA V etc. getting remasters...does that mean the ps4 ones won't work,or just run in b/c mode with no enhancements?
Likewise,will we see crossbuy titles eg: AC Valhalla, with third party & indies? (Oddworld Soulstorm as an example)
I'm fine with what was shown for new gen ps5 only stuff. But I'd hate to see games locked out of b/c for token remasters-a little more detail on the features/services side of transitioning need explaining yet.
Consider my appetite whetted. Now tell me when it's acceptable for me to begin complaining again about Sony's lack of information.
@pip_muzz I agree. It wasnt a bad showing, but nothing looked better than anything running on PS4. Plus that Spiderman news was some slick way to make casual gamers believe there getting a new game. I believe I can wait a few years and but the console for half price.
Well of course. We still got the gamescom online event and a planned digital event for tokyo game show. Im far more excited for the japanese games tho
I'll be waiting patiently.
I'll be honest, the way the PS5 has been talked up, I really didn't see much that "wasn't possible" on any other platform - except for maybe the Ratchet & Clank dimensional shifting.
I was impressed with some of the games shown and I can't wait to make the shift, but I didn't see anything that made me rush out and pre-order.
For fairness sake, nothing stood out on Series X for me to rush out and pre-order either.
What a 24 hours... Since the Spider-Man game is similar to Lost Legacy and not a remaster, consider me fully back on board the hype train. News has just broken on that one. PS5 back in the driving seat (I'm glad Sony weren't misleading anyone)
@pip_muzz
Yes, I'm chuffed to read that it's in a similar vein to Lost Legacy, excellent news.
@pip_muzz I was a bit like you when I saw the show as was not blown away by a lot of the games. But then I saw the trailers in 4K and WAS blown away. Good news about Spider-man.
@playstation1995 I loved the lady they used not a photomodel and the setting. A little Dead Space, Event Horizon, Alien and fast action brilliant. 😃👍
@pip_muzz Great news indeed some headhoncho doesnt know what he is talking about. Its like the Uncharted 4 expansion thats good news indeed.
@Flaming_Kaiser. I believe sony bought housemarque.man that game looks amazing.its like a fast pace alien and dead space game.word up son
@Arugula Awwww yeah, I was really blown away by some of them! Horizon was spectacular!
@playstation1995 I loved their stuff so hard but such hart for their games.
I’d love another Uncharted game they were amazing either with Nathan drake or his daughter as the main character 👍.. wasn’t too impressed with the lost legacy characters
