Are you wondering whether the PlayStation 5 can actually be placed sideways? All of the initial promotional material for Sony's next-gen console showed the machine in an upright position, leading many fans to question whether it has to be positioned vertically.
Fortunately, that's not the case. Sony has released a couple of shots that clearly show the PS5 in a horizontal position, with what is presumably the same stand propping it up. Phew. Now you won't have to worry about reorganising your gaming setup.

I think it looks better standing vertical and without the disc slot. Might go digital on this one.
As much as I always prefer having my consoles on their side,in this case it will have to stand up cuz it looks beautiful and stylish stood up but ugly as hell led down..

I personally think it looks better vertical rather than horizontal.
I wish someone would also invent a device that sucks all the dust out of my bedroom so I don't have to keep dusting my consoles. This baby looks like a dust magnet, and yes I am using a HEPA filter but I can't beat the dust!
Would rather it be black but the white is cool. I think it looks better on its side, less like a router.
It hurts my brain morec this way as it will never seem level with the top and bottom looking like they are peeling off. Vertical it looked like a vase so I could deal, butvthis just looks like it fell over and started falling apart.

Now just need to offer it in Black or at least make those white parts interchangeable - offer different colour plates to customise it. I am still not convinced it will be a Day 1 buy for me - at least wait until H2:FW releases but knowing can be horizontal at least is a good thing...

Anyone seen the dimensions yet? My PS4 Pro just snugly fits on my bookshelf, so I hope new PS5 is Similar height when standing up.
Vertically it takes up less space. Black is the worst color to keep clean.
I really like that the PS5 will come with a base. Helps keep the console elevated and makes it look a lot sleeker.
Still looks kind of awkward. Hopefully the rumors of its heat problems were not real, but I guess we'll know when it comes out.

Horizontally since my tv cabinet is wide, not tall, it's nice to have confirmation from sony.
Well, that answers my question, just now if it can be had in black to match the rest of my gear. May not buy on day one though.
@Vix yes I'd give them props if only they could hear me screaming over the ps4 pro they built for me in 2017.
But sure "props" least of they thing starts to melt you won't really notice. With its already "curved" design.
The Playstation logo placement while the PS5 lays horizontally is really messing with my OCD...
They did actually show the PS5 laying down in the PS5 event video at 1:13:15 or 1:23 of the closing sizzle reel.

I wonder if you need a stand for that, too, though. Why else would they show it resting horizontally on a stand still then and not just resting on a surface with the stand?
Can't tell exactly from the renders, but the console doesn't appear to be flat on neither of the sides.
