Assassin's Creed Valhalla was announced back at the end of April, and we've been waiting on official gameplay ever since. Ubisoft finally delivered during its Ubisoft Forward showcase, giving us at look at roughly five minutes of the upcoming open world title. You can watch the overview trailer above.
Ubisoft has also aired a 30 minute demo, which goes into a lot more depth. Honestly, the game looks like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, but with more of... Well, everything. Combat has been expanded and RPG mechanics promise additional customisation.
Oh, and Valhalla's got a release date: the 17th November 2020, as was leaked prior to Ubisoft Forward.
How do you think it looks? Throw and axe in the comments section below.

This has been said many times but this just doesn’t look like Assassin’s Creed. The spirit just isn’t there anymore.
@Akurusu For me personally AC does when Etzio story died in revelations I actually loved AC 2, Brotherhood to Revelations then AC3 was just awful Black Flag was great I've never played an AC game since they all look medicore and boring
@Nakatomi_Uk give Odyssey a try, I loved it! It's bloated but I was never bored or fed up. It's my favourite since Black Flag.
It looked okay until the bit where Eivor went to town with an axe on a wolf for about 5 minutes. It's stuff like that gets people moaning and crying and moaning about it not being an Assassin's Creed game anymore.
I really loved Odyssey, but something about Valhalla isn't grabbing me like I hoped it would.
Personally, Black Flag and Origins were my least favourite AC games, and this one is made by the same team so it was always going to be a hard sell for me. I just hope the main character can rival Kassandra.
@ApostateMage I thought the exact same thing. Ubisoft said that it was going to streamline the RPG mechanics (no more random loot, level gates) but when you're hitting a wolf for 5 minutes with a massive axe and it's still not dead, there's a problem.
I get that it's part of a boss fight but it just looks absurd.
Is that on XSX?
CTRL+C CTRL+V. ODYS[Backspace]... VALH[typing...]. DONE!
I never could get into the earlier creed games. But I throughly enjoyed origins & Odyssey. I’m really looking forwards to this, & I’ll be buying it for ps5 day one.
I don’t care that it’s not an AC game. To me it’s just a Vikings game and what more could you want from a Vikings game, I’ve never seen a Vikings game like this so I can’t wait to play it... Sure it’s going to have all the usual AC crap copy/ paste job, the boss fights look abit silly but people wouldn’t complain about that if it was any other game eg the Witcher! Maybe they shouldn’t call it AC, anyway I’m looking forward to doing abit of raiding!
To be fair I reckon it would take me 5 minutes to kill an angry wolf with an axe
That wolf could have gone down way quicker. Did you notice it got stunned and you could do an attack then but the person in control didn't bother? Same for the human enemy after, one stomp when he was on the ground took off most of his lifebar.
Joraptor has put up footage of some of his gameplay trying to be stealthy. Might be instakills but not bosses. That wolf thing bothered me too.

I'm liking the look of it! Seems less repetitive than Odyssey, but actually playing it may be a different matter.
I love the TV series Vikings and all that lore around the Viking invasion. Also spotted the County and City I live in appear in the game which makes me even more excited to play it.
It looks great for me totally something else i didnt play AC after Syndicate. But as a invader arent we the bad guys now? Just saying not to be a ass are the assassins the good guys anyway its not like the Vikings were good.
Meh.
I found the leaked gameplay more interesting that's saying much.
It looks much more enjoyable than the leak lead on, I wonder how much changed and why between the two builds. Still not a huge fan of how floaty the combat system from Odyssey feels but the finishers look hefty enough to offset that, they're super gory and satisfying. Still really hoping after this game that they move away from some of the heavy RPG/Fantasy elements, fighting giant wolves and people, glowing loot chests, damage numbers and all the other HUD obscurities really takes me out of the time period where the older games felt more immersive.
Overall I'm excited! If it's closer to Origins than Odyssey I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun!
Day one buy for me. I loved Origins and Odyssey. People complain about the direction the series has taken, but as a big RPG fan, I welcome it.
"get the cat to join your crew" well that is....something
@Bentleyma- people complain about everything tgeyre bunch of hypocrirtes.if assasin creed stays like black flag.they will say its the same assasin creed.they always complain about everything.no one told them or forcing them to buy the game.and some hypocrits will buy the game.this game looks amazing.i l😍ve the new rpg elements in assassins creed game.its much longer so many things to do.cool stories and gameplay and graphics.word up son
The smaller trailer was all I saw so far but it actually made me excited...yeah it looks exactly the same as odyssey but I'm expecting the PS5 to give it a bit more beauty
Yeeeaaaahhh I'll avoid this entirely. There's no Assassins, there's no parkour, It's just an RPG with Assassin's Creed slapped onto it.
I loved Odyssey, but there's something about this that just hasn't landed for me yet. I don't know. It has my curiosity, but not my attention.
@TheArt you wrote that as a joke but I think is actually pretty accurate, even Ubisoft's Gods & Monsters which is a suppose new ip plays exactly like Assassin's creed.
It looks like it could be fun. I got the platinum for Odyssey but it took some time!
This is definitely one you can play on PS4, no need to wait for next gen.
Not blown away by it but I'll definitely play it at some point.
@Juanalf But y'know I think I'm interested in Gods& Monsters because it's cartoony and fits that "running all over place" gameplay. AC tries to be realistic yet you have this bad ass misthios running all over the market, I keep saying it's too much work tilting the left stick halfway to walk. My point is, imagine outlaw Arthur Morgan running all over Saint Denis like an idiot. I mean jogging like Ellie in TLOUII fits that post-apocalyptic world. When it's too much running and everything's in haste, it makes it feel like some delivery guy on fetch quests, that's just one of my problems with AC aside the general copy-paste Ubisoft formula.
Odyssey is my favorite Assassin's Creed game since II/Brotherhood, but this just looks a copy-paste with nordic skin.
At least they're bringing some stealth mechanics back from the old days.
@Akurusu you're joking right?so you just want every assassin's creed to be the same? Like you want the New resident evil games to be the same to with old gameplay?
@Taylorzombie You can evolve a franchise without taking away what made it great.
@Akurusu still the same
Gameplay looked terrible, don't see myself getting this for many years.
