One unexpected game announcement really caught our attention during the PlayStation 5 reveal event, and it was Kena: Bridge of Spirits. This cross-gen action adventure had a great debut trailer, and we can't wait to see how it all plays when the game arrives this holiday.
IGN has just released a new video, which features two members of the development team as they go over the trailer and provide some details. Kena is the titular lead character, a spirit guide who has discovered a village filled with lost and corrupted souls. Her staff is a versatile tool that can act as various things; you can use it as a melee weapon, a bow, or a shield.
The Rot is the cutesy species of little black creatures seen in the trailer, and you'll find more of them as you explore the world. They have their own abilities, such as Rot Carry. Using this, you can tell the critters to pick up objects and place them down wherever you need them. They can also aid you in combat as well, enhancing your attacks.
The Rot and Kena will work together to rid the game of corruption, Okami style. The devs say that once you've cleared an area of corruption, it'll unlock "new elements of gameplay".
We're excited to learn more about Kena: Bridge of Spirits as we get closer to PS5's holiday 2020 release. Do you like the look of this one? Tell us in the comments section below.

This was one of the stand out trailers for me at the PS game reveal last month but not many people seem to be talking about it?!
Loving the art style and the world looks very rich and detailed.
This is one of the games I’m very much hyped for. It looked so good!
Looks amazing, can't wait to play it. Seems like a cult hit in the making.
Looks quite alright but also a bit too Disneyfied for me personally.
The animation and graphics are beautiful in this game but I hope the actual gameplay and combat can fun are fluid, if so then this is a day one buy for me
Classic game incoming.warning classic game incoming.this game will be?amazing.word up son
Looks like excellent Christmas Morning fodder.
This looks utterly charming. I love some charm in my games.
This was one of my highlights of the event so really looking forward to this game.
Can't wait! Big surprise that its holiday 2020. The announce trailer didnt have a release date/window. Now it appears to potentially be a launch game!
@Diymhoshei this game took the show for me. We may not have seen much, but what we did see reminded me of the PlayStation 2/Xbox era platformers. I loved that style of games, but we don’t get many of those these days. I was really excited when I saw that trailer.
It looked brilliant, really can’t wait for this one. Definitely a highlight of the presentation.
This could be one of my first ps5 games
Nice, I'll get this and spidey mm on ps5 launch day
Really hyped for this. It looks gorgeous and I love the vibe. I just hope, as this appears to be their first published game, that they nail the gameplay too. But they are saying all the right things.
This certainly caught my attention during the reveal.
My first thought was Kameo Elements of Power on Xbox 360. Then it had a little Pikmin, which is always nice.
Watching this now all I need is a blue furry skin and I can have the Starfox Adventures sequel I always wanted staring Krystal.
Cross gen you say? Guess this will be a look see at what PS5 does besides remove loading screens. I still don't have a 4k tv and I'm in no rush.
I loved the reveal trailer for this, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of it
Really looking forward to this. I hope it's a launch game.
I really liked the look of this during the ps5 reveal. I felt that it looked like a Pixar film come to life.
One of those games that came out of nowhere at the PS5 event, looked really charming and definitely something I'll keeping an eye on because I think it has promise.
@Bentleyma- Kena: Bridge of Spirits was confirmed for a targeted Holiday 2020 release window in the Developer Interview video.
Might not be available at Launch but we should still be able to play it before 2021.
