Update: Nope, there's still time for the director to leave, as Sony Pictures Entertainment has clarified that filming has not started on the Uncharted movie. Yet. According to a statement sent to Games Radar, the film crew is currently prepping, and the company is "hoping to start [shooting] soon". Progress, but it's still not quite there. Not yet.
Original Story: Ahh yes, the good old Uncharted movie. Following one delay after another, it finally looked like the big-screen adaptation of Nathan Drake would start filming at the beginning of this year. And then the coronavirus pandemic started. We're not on the other side of that just yet, but it looks like conditions are safe enough for shooting to commence. Yes, Tom Holland has confirmed that the Uncharted movie has begun filming. Hooray!
We know this thanks to an Instagram post shared by the man himself which sports the caption: "Day one #Uncharted" alongside an image of his own movie set chair.
The Uncharted movie is now scheduled to hit cinemas on 8th October 2021 so let's hope production goes smoothly between now and then. Are you still looking forward to catching this gaming adaptation on the big screen? Bring the popcorn in the comments below.

is this some alternative universe?
I said that Sammy, or Robert idk really, would eat their own words when they said this movie would never happen x) I told you guys, this movie will probably be crap, but it will happen!
Tom Holland killed spiderman for me now he will do the same for Uncharted.
Who is he going to play? Nate's son?
@Octane
i can see it being like the backstory in 2 with him first meeting sully and with him being young can get more than one film if it does well, many times something like this , after a few films the actors out of shape and needs a walker
@Octane Young Nate
@blacklivesmatter
dont think his films where the best spiderman movies thats Spider-man 2, but he is the best Peter/Spidey.
as good as tobey maguire was , he just looked wrong, looked like he should of been teaching high school!
Tom Holland is a good actor, but it's such a poor choice for this role. He looks about 12.
As for Fleischer, Zombieland was great, but that was 11 years ago. Everything else he's directed since then has been abysmal.
Really looking forward to seeing how this project goes.
The article pic looks like Nate has just walked in on both Elena and Chloe in bed together.
@AFCC
It's hard to make that genre crap. It should, at the very least, be entertaining.
Whether it's true to the Uncharted style is another matter.
@Arugula Origin story and not set in the same universe as the games (so not a prequel to Drake's Fortune for example)
I love the uncharted short that was released. Nathan Fillion was a perfect Nate imo.
@blacklivesmatter Troll
Tom's a good choice for an adolescent Nathan Drake. He has the right look - not too old to be an arrogant know-all and not too young to be naive and ignorant of worldly matters. His experience in playing the party of Peter Parker / Spider-Man also provides the right balance of ordinary guy - hero characterisation. It's an inspired choice by the casting director - and excellent use of Sony resources
I'll believe it when I see the movie hit theaters, Digital/VOD/Streaming, or Home Media (4K UHD, Blu-Ray, DVD)
@Octane Every one else already answered, but I'm a "picture is worth a thousand words" kinda guy. 😉
And if Marky Mark is still in line to play Sully he can pull that off pretty easily.
Just a reminder, just b/c it's filming does not mean it will release any time soon. See New Mutants.
Though, regardless of what gamers may think there's an audience for adventure movies, see National Treasure. That even got a sequel. And Holland is money in the bank. So is Wahlberg. They'll make money. Probably even a sequel.
@phil_j i hope you know he's playing young Nathan drake
@nathanSF you're joking right?
@Taylorzombie Hi. you mean about the age he's playing? No, I'm assuming he's playing a Drake in his mid-late teens - with a touch of make up maybe Tom's own age. He is 24 in reality and I get he looks younger but not young enough to play a kid Nathan Drake. Or did you mean joking about something else?
Tom Holland as Nathan Drake?...sigh, he doesn't match the look, doesn't match the voice, like what are they doing. Nathan Fillion/James Roday or I won't watch it.
Here's the most recent pic of him in role: Definitely not the Uncharted 3 age

I think the absolute best case scenario is that this ends up being enjoyable on an accidental Venom-type level. But I don’t see even that happening.
I like Tom Holland - He is perfectly cast as Spider-Man. I don't think he will be a convincing Nathan Drake though.
I don't see the need for an Uncharted movie. The games, especially the PS4 ones, do an amazing job of feeling like a movie and a game at the same time. The graphics are so good that the cutscenes basically look like they're straight out of a CGI movie anyway.
Why am I not surprised? Personally, much rather have a TV series than a movie but that's just my opinion.
I'm expecting this to be terrible, but like a car crash, I won't be able to look away. The Last of Us HBO show is what I actually have high hopes for.
They should've got this done years ago, with Nathan Fillion as the lead.
But as I've said before, they'd rather make what will most likely be a B-movie with a 'big name' than a quality fan-service movie with someone who would actually suit the role.
For me personally, the absolute best thing they could have done would have been to use the actual voice actors in the movie. They're all perfectly capable actors in their own right, and everything would have been perfect... voices, body language, mannerisms, interactions, chemistry... everything; and that chemistry between the game cast is one of the biggest attractions of the series... and it's all lost with whatever cast they choose for the movie. Probably wouldn't have taken much make-up to get them to look very similar to their in-game characters either. I bet every fan of the games would have gone to see that movie, but instead, they want a big star to try to get the average punter in... most of whom probably won't be interested anyway.
Oh please 2010 Robert de niro , mark wahlberg and joe pesci . I was hyped for that and now 😂 doesnt tom blurt out spoilers lol
I still don’t think it’ll happen. It hasn’t started and something will probably happen soon. They should’ve pulled the plug ages ago.
Meh, just let this go.
@Wormold so...i looked nate up on urban dictionary...one of my sons name is Nathan and we call him nate for short. Ill never look at him the same again lol.
This would have been better as an animated film, with Nolan North voicing Drake.
Tom Holland is an exceptional actor, and I loved him in stuff like The Impossibles, The Lost City of Z and the MCU as Spider-Man, but he just doesn't give off the vibe of Nathan Drake I expect from someone as daring and physically capable as he is. It's not that he's too young, but he just looks too high school wallflower-esque
Really awful casting
@nathanSF he's the right age to play young Nathan drake
@Taylorzombie agreed. But have you seen the photo he released of himself on set as an older Nathan Drake? As I suspected, his real age allows him to play both a teen and adult character with not much make up. Here's the link again - sure, it's more a twenty something Drake but definitely not a young teen.

@nathanSF young Nathan drake accepted or don't watch the film then
@Taylorzombie . Am I putting across the impression I'm biased? I'm not in the least. I'll probably watch the film regardless. Or were you talking about your preference for a younger Drake?
@nathanSF preference? Sweetie that was there decision to have young Nathan drake and wouldn't even care if he was young or older in the film just be happy
