It might not have felt too much like a summer drought thanks to the releases of The Last of Us: Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, but we are slowly approaching the business end of the year. More big PlayStation 4 games are on their way, and not to mention the PlayStation 5 launch, and so we wanted to take a quick look back at what has been 2020 so far through the lens of video games.
What has been your favourite PS4 game of 2020 so far? Is it one of Sony's big exclusive titles, a multi-platform game, or a special indie experience that more people need to get around to playing? To answer that question, we've compiled every noteworthy PS4 release of 2020 so far into the poll you see below. If you want to take a look at Push Square's own Best PS4 games of 2020 So Far, head on through the link. This poll will stay open until Monday 27th July at 17:00 BST, at which point we'll gather all that data and put together a community-focused article detailing the results.
So, all that's left to do is place your vote in the poll and expand on our selection in the comments below. We can't wait to see what the Push Square community's own top 10 looks like!

Voted Ghost, Streets of Rage and TLOU.
My Ghost of Tsushima vote might be a bit premature as I've only played a few hours so far and already have a fair few complaints about it. I'm still enjoying it overall though.
Right now I think Streets of Rage 4 is my favourite game so far this year.
The Last of Us Part 2 is my favourite so far though Ghost of Tsushima is running it close so we'll see when I finish that. Others I've enjoyed have been Resident Evil 3 and Streets of Rage 4
Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us 2.
2020 turned out to be a great year for games after all. Despite the apocalypse.
Nioh 2 babyyy.
It's a pretty safe sequel all things considered, but rather than reinvent the wheel it refines and polishes it to a T. And it's definitely the most fun I've had with a PS4 game this year.
Also the combat just absolutely dunks on Tsushima's
1) The Last of Us Part II
2) Ghost of Tsushima
3) Maneater
Persona 5 Royal, Ghost of Tsushima, and Final Fantasy VII Remake in that order.
Only played three of these games, so:
1) FF7 Remake
2) Ghost of Tsushima
3) RE3
Last of us, streets of rage and ghosts for me. But could have chosen a few more. Just saw maneater on the summer sale so might pick that up after finishing ghost of Tsushima loving it so far, probably finish it by Monday got a long weekend break to finish it.
GoT
Easy GoTy
The Last of Us Part 2
Final Fantasy 7 remake
Ghost of Tsushima
Ellie's Rage
Jill's Snark
Barret's Preaching
Ghost of tsushima, streets of rage 4, last of us 2.
But last of us 2 will be replaced in October when trails of cold steel 4 will be released.
Only played Part II but really, I doubt anything would top it...for me anyway.
😉
Also voted for Persona 5 Royal as I have played the original P5 and loved it so...
It counts, don't tell me it doesnt!
😜
Will definitely be playing both Final Fantasy VII remake and Ghost of Tsushima at some point.
@Arugula 😂😂😂
This is a tricky one as i own and play alot of games and my attention span is actually pretty short so id have to go FF remake as i actually completed it.
👻 ghost of tshushima .nioh 2 and streets of rage 4.word up son
Ghost of Tshushima because not one quest is the same, and I feel when viewing and exploring the map it just feels like every quest or activity is different and not a copy and paste repeat objective. Just feels different and does look amazing.
@Arugula Great.
🙄
Only played two of them (although I do have a copy of Dreams which I got for free, just not played it) so...
Two Point Hospital and Persona 5 Royal.
1st is TLOU2. I cant understand the hate for this game, graphics were superb, gameplay was good, and the story was great.
2nd is Ghost of Tsushima. Only about 15 hrs in, but graphically its beautiful, gameplay is original and entertaining, the story...not finished it yet, but its ok so far.
3rd is FFV11 remake, just good fun to play.
@Arugula 👍
Walking dead saints and sinners GOTY so far
Didn't think anything could top Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Then I played The Last of Us Part 2... And now I'm having an amazing time with Ghost of Tsushima... So... what an amazing year! And we still have Cyberpunk 2077 and the PlayStation 5 to look forward too!
Apparently the first 2020 game I'm going to play is Fairy Tail next week since I've been doing Covid backlog in 2020 + some PSnow/PSplus games
I LOVED FF7R especially the ending but I was not ready for how much fun Ghost of Tsushima is. Its Definitely my fav game of 2020 so far. Kakarot was ok too.
The.Last.Of.Us.2 - hate all you want, no other game has caused so much discussion, controversy, heartbreak, rage, sympathy and forgiveness in recent years. All that in a linear structure, with no futile question marks and filler. My opinion, of course.
1. The Last of Us Part 2
2. Ghost of Tsushima
3. FF7 Remake
@thiz That game was doomed from the start. I played that technical test months ago and just thought who the heck is this game for? I feel bad for anyone who bought it to play multiplayer b/c it must be dead online.
I can't really answer this until I've finished Ghost of Tsushima, which is highly doubtful it will be by Monday.
Persona 5 Royal closely followed by Nioh 2. Both phenomenal games.
@ShogunRok Almost exactly except switch FF7 and GOT
Ghost of tsushima is the first, next is ff7 remake, and the third one is persona 5 royal. I'm really enjoying ghost of tsushima, it's more sandbox type of game like skyrim rather than more linear open world games like spider-man and god of war.
FFVII Remake, although it's the only new PS4 game I've purchased this year, so it wins by default. But it's still looking to be my favorite new game released this year. The battle system is just perfect, and while there are presentation issues, most of the game still feels super AAA. It's full of nostalgic charm for those of us who played the original as children on PS1, yet it still feels like a brand new game.
Ghost of tsushima, the last of us part 2 and Persona 5 royal
@roe just finished streets of rage 4. great game. that said, it isn't keeping me engaged for more than 2 playthroughs... wish they had remixed the stages or enemy placements to improve the replay value. also, it's hard to believe just how much easier the game is playing as blaze versus axel.
Pillar of eternity 2
Desperados 3
Ghost of tsushima
Shoutout to the 4 other Two Point Hospital fans out there!
Final Fantasy VII Remake was like the second coming for me so definitely that 😍
Okay..so if we remove last of us 2, ghosts, and ff7; then it gets somewhat interesting. That’s gotta be resident evil 3, doom eternal and persona royal, right?
Like so many ones and zeros; it’s not even close. Those top 3 are SO great it’s like cheating!
What a great year. Can't believe how good its been. Picking 3 from that list is impossible as 2020 has been fantastic!
(snarky looks from everyone 1 metre plus around me)
Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy VII Remake and The Last of Us Part II.
Honourable mentions go to Resident Evil 3 and Trials of Mana.
The Last of Us Part II. It's set a new benchmark as the longest wide linear game ever.
I am a fanboy of the series but come on Final Fantasy VII Remake is the best!
I actually thought GOT would be top at this moment
P5R, SoR4 and GoT.
@ShogunRok Finally. Someone with good taste.
Nothing touching the last of us 2
Blimey. I came here to vote but I actually haven't played a single one of those!
FF7 remake for me
Ill tell you in 2021 when i made a dent in my backlog. 😆
Currently Streets of Rage 4 is my favorite game across all 3 platforms but Ghost of Tsushima has a very good chance of overtaking it, really love what I've played so far.
Third choice is TLoU 2. The more I've gotten away from the toxic discourse that took place on both sides of the extreme, the more I've thought about the game on its own and while there are story parts I still hate there's no denying what a finely crafted game it is. The combat, regardless of how you go about getting through those segments, is better than a vast majority of games ever made. In terms of world-building I think this is the best I've ever played and it's not close except for maybe a few Resident Evil games that also handle that very well.
As much as I love The Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima is just too fun to play
For me it's a toss-up between Ghost of Tsushima and FFVII Remake for 1st, with Dreams coming in 3rd. Had The Last of Us Part II been less disappointing, it would've been a contender as well, but as it is, these three are the one's I've liked the most this year so far.
@DragonSlayer1759 TLOU2 touched me in such a personal way, had such a huge impact on me afterwards. I don’t understand the rage either, man. Nothing is gonna top it for me for awhile, at least until Cyberpunk comes out.
TLOU2 and Persona 5 Royal for me.
And these are also the only 2020 games I've played so far...
1)Ghost of Tsushima
2)The Last of Us Part 2
3)Final Fantasy 7 remake
P5R, GoT, FF7R, DOOM Eternal, Nioh 2...
3 is not enough...
Last of Us 2 all the way, along with Ghost of Tsushima and FF7R. Honorable mentions to Streets of Rage 4, Kentucky Route Zero and Persona 5 Royal!
Ghost of Tsushima
TLOU2 (although it did drag a little towards the end)
Doom Eternal
I have Streets of Rage 4 ordered on physical (think it gets here next week) so this might edge out Doom once I play it but GoT is probably my favourite so far. I really want to try out Kentucky Route Zero at some point though, heard great things about that game!
The Last of Us Part II
Ghost of Tsushima
Persona 5 Royal
No order. I feel like on another Final Fantasy VII Remake would make the cut. The daddy chuff ending did sour it for me though.
Ghost of Tsushima
@johncalmc SPOILERS!!!!!
🤦
@Col_McCafferty Sorry, you're right. Spoilers for everyone who hasn't played Final Fantasy VII Remake yet: it has an ending and I didn't like it very much.
Interesting to see the amount of you who has TLOU 2 as one of their favourites. How come all over You Tube it got such hate, it was almost ridiculous. Im of the suspicion that they only played to that infamous death scene and then packed up.
@DragonSlayer1759 completely agree with you on tlou2, great game, just seems like it's trendy to say you hate it.
@DragonSlayer1759
For some people youtube is their income, and most of the hate was from people who need those views on their channel. And Naughty Dog and Sony didn't help by abusing the copyright system. All that said, I think it's a game that will be looked back on more favorably as the years go by and we get further away from all the outside 'noise' that surrounded the conversation. I do think there are parts of the story that were horribly done but what Naughty Dog got right it got really right.
1) Doom
2) Journey to a Savage Planet
3)Dreams
Final Fantasy VII Remake for me. I still need to play DBZ Kakarot and I'm waiting for alot of the other games on that list to drop below ~$25-$30 USD.
The Last Of Us Part II. Not only of 2020, but of all time. Just as the first game was before it.
