Sony’s not talking about alternative DualSense colour schemes right now, but it plans to “at some point” in the near future. The platform holder intends to roll out its next-gen system later this year, and it’s promised that PS5 pre-orders will be telegraphed, rather than opened at a “moment’s notice”.
Speaking with Geoff Keighley as part of a recent Summer Games Fest livestream, Eric Lempel said: “Right now it’s a hard enough job to get the unit that we’ve showed out, but we’ll talk about it at some point.” Judging by the wide-eyed grin on the marketing man’s face, there’ll be lots of options for you to choose from post-release.
The DualSense’s two-tone colour scheme clearly lends itself well to a variety of different designs and options, so we’re looking forward to where the manufacturer takes this. Perhaps it’ll even allow us to design our own pads at some point, much like Microsoft allows with its Xbox Design Lab.

This pink one would be wonderful 🦀
Who knew PlayStation could look so pretty in pink?
Personally I would like orange and white together. More options is always a good thing.
That pink pad is delicious. I bet if you licked it, it would taste like summer as a teenager.
White and light gray please.
@ApostateMage I read that as in "Summer" as a person's name and it was weird.
Honestly, I'm a huge fan of the standard white and blue.
All I see is a pink alien with legs, two big eyes and antennas on that controller.
@Matroska What's wrong with licking people?
When I saw the console design I wondered if they were keeping a secret feature unannounced in that the side plates (the white bits) can be replaced with different colour panels? A bit like how the faceplates were on the 360...
Probably unlikely but you never know!
Black and yellow just like the Pittsburgh Steelers😍.would look amazing.word up son
@Matroska No capital S. I'm weird but I'm not creepy. At least not today.
Colour me interested.
Love the pink, never thought I would say that. Or a nice purple.
The Pink looks great, would love a black and blue controller. Hopefully Sony will have a Design Lab for their controllers and maybe even consoles (doubt that'll happen with consoles, but still cool to think about.)
@Feena love the colour combination whish it was real 👍
Unless I'm missing something here, I don't get what Lempel says means that there will be loads of different colour schemes for DS controller?
I wouldn't mind my controllers in "neon genesis Evangelion" colour themes.
Orange and blue with a gator image on the touchpad would be like totally awesome.
@Arugula Yeah I saw that and it still makes no sense to me? 🤷♂️
Man Sony is bringing the full guns this generation I swear. Is it just me or with the dual-shocks this gen they seemed to have just lacked custom colour designs compared to Xbox controllers ? It really looks like they are covering this market this gen and giving the gamers a lot more options to make the ps5 more personal, which is good to see!
@Feena agreed!
@Arugula Well at least we are both going crazy together.
Heres my mockup! GIVE IT TO ME SONY!!

They really need to just let us design our own like Microsoft does. Im sure there are loads of people that would be willing to pay an extra 10 bucks to make their own!
Clear translucent or blue translucent for me. I bought all three crystal PS4 controllers Red, Blue, and Clear.
@NoCode23 Orange and blue would work for the Mets too... I'm on board.
Until today I never knew I needed a pink Playstation controller.
