The standoff is one of the neatest mechanics in Ghost of Tsushima, as enemies feign attacks while you hold your nerve and pick the right moment to attack them. Reddit poster codmycave has kicked the immersion in these moments up a notch, however, by wielding his own headband and sword and… Well, give the video a watch.
The coolest thing about the standoffs is that they start out relatively straightforward, but escalate in complexity later on. Foes will test your nerve by twitching, and the window to attack becomes smaller and smaller. We wouldn’t like to face this guy in a duel, as apparently he’s still deadly without even looking at the screen.

hes prob looking at a 2nd monitor, theres no way to knoe when to attack without any visual cues, prob fake just for views..
@pimpjuice early on in the game the stand-offs are much easier and they don't fake you out.
@pimpjuice It's probably the enemy screaming "haaaarrgh!" that gives it away.
@pimpjuice Or you know paying attention and listening to the screams.
Gamer moment
Don't get into a fight with this guy
Y'know I'm not cutting the guy down cause he's just having a little harmless fun, but this reminds me of that really old jedi video from 2004 with the guy swinging that pole around set to Star Wars music.
@deadlyblack that video was.even more epic when they montaged some disco music under it and images of Ben kenobi cut in looking non plussed.
Don't mess with The Nerd Ninja.
@Deadlyblack wait, are you trying to say Jedi Kid wasn’t cool?
Comparing them to each other is surely a badge of honour.
Nerds rule!
Lol, stand off is so good, it's really hard to do stealth run because the stand off is so much fun
The guy's just having a bit of fun and trying to make people smile, and some still feel the need to have a pop. WTF is wrong with the world these days? 🙄
Think this is great. I might try it tonight. Semi clothed. For... reasons.
@Rudy_Manchego You can act out when Jin has a dip in the spa baths then. Video footage not needed, we believe you.
@Kienda I thought people always made fun of the Jedi Kid, so I wasn't sure if drawing the comparison would mean I was making fun of this guy.
Man, 2020 internet has me messed up.
@Deadlyblack the internet has always been mean and yes, people were horrible to him.
However, I actually liked him and felt sorry that people were so mean to him. He was “uncool” but to the point where he became a legend.
Not sure I’m making sense. But I have a soft spot for nerds. Haha
Excellent game so far, standoffs are a cool part of the game though I haven't reached the stage where the difficulty of them increases yet! The guy in the video certainly has added some authenticity to his game - I found it funny anyway!
@JohnnyShoulder Will add it to my twitter account while I reflect on all those restraining orders...
The video was great and I enjoyed it. Sometimes you don't have to care how it was done!
@pimpjuice Dry up Pimp ya old prune juice! It's just a bit of fun.
