Crikey, this is exciting! Following its shock announcement last week, IO Interactive has showcased some more Hitman 3 VR gameplay footage, which includes context from the Danish team. The developers discuss how leveraging PlayStation VR brings you closer to the action, allowing you to get up-close-and-personal with your targets.
It also improves the virtual tourism that the series is known for, allowing you to physically exist within up to 20 different locations, ranging from Paris to Miami to Dubai. It seems motion controls will be included, as it’s mentioned that you’ll be able to tease enemies by tapping them with crowbars before taking them out, while you’ll physically be able to peek around corners to use your weapons.
Interestingly, there’s no specific mention of the PlayStation Move motion controllers, so it’ll be fascinating to see if Sony has a different kind of peripheral in the pipeline for PS5 that’s yet to be announced. Either way, we’re extremely excited to get to grips with this – it’s clearly going to be a game changer for a series that already comes highly recommended.

I can not wait for this. Hit man is one of my most beloved franchises. I even played absolution to death. Vr is going to be a total game changer.
I don't know how this is even possible to be honest. If it's as good as they say it is, then this is going to be absolutely phenomenal.
@get2sammyb honestly to me it speaks to how much IOI care about hitman as an IP.
When you love something that much you make it work no matter what.
I have nothing but faith that this will be every bit as good as they say it will be.
Very very impressive. I really hope this comes to PC VR in the future. I would love to play it.
Honestly this is sounding amazing! The tease your enemies bit in particular sound like it’s going to be a blast!
Edit: the inner child in me is really hoping I can smack someone in the balls realistically after tapping on their shoulder to get their attention. God I hope the attention to detail is that deep.
This has now become my most wanted game(s), the only question is if I’m going to have the patience to wait to play the inevitably better PS5 version. Obviously the improvements will be worth waiting I’m sure.
I'm looking forward to this. My only concern is that it appears to use the wands. I hope that it's not a 'wand only' title, as I'd much sooner use a DS4 for precise control, rather than those immersion breaking, not fit for purpose, clunky, inaccurate wand things.
Edit: I've just read (based upon a developer AMA) that the game will be a DS4 only title. Happy days.
Maybe they will use the additional move controller they made for ps3 the one with the analog stick the navigation controller that went along side the standard move controller? You could use both of those for move so it makes sense unless sony does make another form of controller.
Never played a Hitman game before. Now I'm very excited for it. Glad that it appears to use the motion controls. So much more immersive to tap someone with the crowbar, then slam them. They work great in Saints and Sinners, even without an analog stick, and they should work great here as well. Super accurate for this type of thing. The Moves work great in Pistol Whip, Space Pirate Trainer and other shooting games.
Hard to believe. I'm dying to play it.
The fact that they did not specify which console will it be available for, makes me think it might be coming to ps5vr.
My concern is playing it with PSmoves. They need to launch new VR controllers to truly appreciate free roaming games on Psvr.
Yeah, this is very cool.
And Hitman 3 contains all the levels from the last two as well, right?
As a big fan of Hitman from the very beginning I’d love to try this out but won’t be getting a PS5 till at least a couple of years after release. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one bundled with PSVR then try this out.
This has to be a Ps5 title right? I doubt the ps4 could handle this without it being choppy or blurry
Wow, I've never really cared about the Hitman games. As mentioned, VR support really is a game changer though. Makes this game a day one purchase for me. I can't wait.
I can't flipping wait!
@Octane
I am wandereing this myself. They have not been very clear in on this.
Can't wait for this, I hope it leverages the PS5 in some way but most importantly I hope Sony come out with some new controllers and a PSVR2 at some point
@zimbogamer I’m pretty sure it’s being released on PS4 too.
@Dominatso they said you could port the levels you own to 3 meaning you’ll have to own the others I think.
@MarcG420
Aha Ok I think i missed that thanks
This will sell headsets.
@MarcG420 I am a bit skeptical about what they have shown being on the ps4. I have a pro and even that struggles with VR games. One of the things I am excited for with the ps5 is that VR games will have better frame rates and field depth which is currently a big issue
The entire trilogy will get be support. Might download 1&2 from my psplus backlog then.
I'm excited for this
@zimbogamer I was too, that’s why I checked and there’s no mention of the psvr support only being included with the PS5 version. I’m not sure where you’re getting the PS4 pro struggling with vr games. The ones I’ve played on my OG ps4 were all fine.
Yes yes, we've all known about this gimmick for quite some time now, and sales figures confirm it will soon be joining the likes of 3DTV. ☠️
@InsertGoodName I'd call VR niche rather than a gimmick. Too early to say whether it'll become mainstream or remain a niche like flight sims and train/truck driving games. There are plenty of successful niche products though, and it doesn't make them any less valid.
@theheadofabroom Hmmm with how fast the tech world moves along, 2016 is an awfully long time to cut it the slack of not bedding down just yet. How much slack do you want to give it? Those other examples are niche yeah that's true but they've been established in some cases for a couple of decades. I take your point though.
I just desperately want this to be running off PS5 with a fully optimised version for the existing PS VR headset. When PS VR on the Pro tries to do life-like graphics, the games really suffer inside the headset (not the TV output that's marketed). In my opinion there are just a couple exceptions to date concerning photo-realistic games.
I think Resident Evil was one game to pull it off well, followed by Blood & Truth and LA Noire VR Case Files.. just, if not limited in other ways. Iron Man was the all-time worst, it looked so awful in terms of resolution, geometry and texture detail, and the loading times and frequency was simply atrocious. I couldn't get past it as much as I tried, and I hope Hitman 3 VR doesn't become that.
I bought my PS4 Pro JUST for VR, I'm a major fan of what Sony have done for VR and I'm praying it succeeds well into next-gen and that more people get to discover its wonder. It is excellent for so many other games, and Skyrim VR knocked things out the ball park in the same way as what WipeOut VR did for racing games. These are just mind-blowing experiences. Quite life-changing RE the world of gaming.
But they really need to take things forward now, otherwise they're shooting themselves in the feet when people go out of their way to try it, then see how horribly dated the graphics/experience can be in certain high-profile games (GT Sport VR I'm looking at you too). Then it really does get (absolutely wrongly) confined to the world of gimmicks.
I'll be giving this a miss.
Lmao the tap on the shoulder with the crowbar and then the swing was amazing
